Been having a bit of sluggishness and slow response with my browser since installing 10.04... flash was a bit choppy etc. I upgraded my flash plugin to the 64bit one - restarted and no more browser issues. still having a graphic driver issue, but i can live with it for the next few weeks. View 1 Replies View RelatedIn my frustration to get adobe flash working in firefox I deleted the /usr/lib/flash-plugin folder. Now when I try to uninstall "Flash-Plugin" from YAST it fails as it can't find the sub-folder. I also cannot install the latest version of flash player as it says that it is already installed - So I am stuck in a loop.
I am running SUSE 11.2.
Is there a config file of installed programs that I can modify to remove the "Flash-Plugin" entry, or is there another way to get over this problem.
ver since I upgraded my Fedora 10 to F11 I've noticed that the flash plugin in Firefox crashes every time I try to load some content, leaving just a grey box. When I go to Adobe's website to check the version number, it works fine. I've already tried reinstalling the plugin.

I click on the button to install the plugins and select Adobe Flash. I get the message "Package is already installed." I go back to the web page and the same thing happens again.In Ubuntu Software Center I see that package restricted-extras is installed.
I tried going through Tools / Add-ons in Firefox, but the list of add-ons wouldn't load at all that way.I also tried going to Adobe's web site, but for versions of Ubuntu 09 and later it offers an "APT" file instead of a .deb. Firefox asks what application to use to open an "APT" file and I don't know what to tell it... I'd be fine downloading a .deb or using apt-get or Ubuntu Software Center though.
Today I installed an upgrade through update manager of the Adobe Flash Player Plugin and it breaks the flash in all three of my browsers: Firefox, Opera and Chromium. Had to revert to previous version to get it to work. Ubuntu Version 10.10 i386 Sony Viao Laptop.

My understanding is that when one installs Adobe Reader the browser plugin automatically gets added. For some reason the Adobe browser plugin isn't working in Firefox on my Ubuntu 10.10 desktop. The plugin doesn't show up in Tools Add-ons or Tools -> Manage Content Plug-ins. It works fine on my laptop with the same versions of Ubuntu, Adobe Reader (9.4.2-0maverick1), and firefox (3.6.17).
Starting firefox from a terminal yields messages that are probably illuminating to some:

It's been a bit since I've used it, but opened it up today, and it's just performing at a crawl, not to mention sucking up a goodly amount of CPU cycles (process "miro.real"). I've tried the Repo version 3.5.x as well as the PPA version 4.0.3, both are just as slow and as choppy as it can be in 11.04. Any thoughts, or anyone just want to share my misery? View 1 Replies View Relatedi just updated from karmic 9.10 to lucid 10.04 using the online upgrade option. so far everything is working great. the only issues i am having seem to involve firefox. when i visit videos i get the message "your browser is no longer supported. please upgrade to a modern browser." i am running 3.6 "canonical" so it is "modern". i am able to watch videos after i close the message. it's just an annoyance to get this message every time i view a video.
next, is on some websites (like this one) it will not supply my login info. but on a few sites (like ebay) it does supply my login info. not sure why some sites work while others don't. the info is there when i look under my saved passwords....
ive installed the classbrowser plugin for gedit, and installed it the correct manner, by copying all the contents of the download to the .gnome2/gedit/plugins folder. The side pane shows up when i enable the plugin but it doesnt seem to do anything (the pane is just blank). Do i need to do anything else to get it to work?
