I would like to save a website as pdf document, but I search for a method that preserves the links of that website and makes them clickable within the pdf file. Every method I found so far removes the links and leaves only all things visible, like printing. There is an thread from 2007 about the same topic but it didn't came to a conclusion either [URL]....

That was until I went to one particular website and found that some links were missing. They simply were not showing in the browser. They were showing in the source code, so they should have appeared. Now, I have two different profiles by using:

My hosting server is running Linux / Apache. It would be very nice to be able to link some files (preferably hard links, but symbolic links also would help), but haven't a clue how to do so. I would be willing to write a server side php script if that would do the trick.
View 4 Replies View RelatedRecently Firefox is showing some but not all the links inside a page in a website that I use every day.Firefox had worked well in the past years with this site, so I made a few tests:- I tested the web page on Firefox 3.5.9 on Fedora 12. Some links missing.- I tested the same web page on IE8 on Windows Vista. No issues, all links there.- I tested the same web page downgrading Firefox to version 3.5.4 and downgrading the required libraries. Same issue, some links missing.- I compared the html code that the web server hands to both IE8 and Firefox. They are exactly the same.I don't know enough about html or javascript to understand why Firefox doesn't like some of this code portion.

I have a website that has a massive list of royalty free stock photos and I want to download all of them. I have bought a membership for [URL] so I am able to download as much as I want from them for the next month.
Instead of going page by page and manually downloading each set of stock photos manually, I would like to automate this process. Here's my idea:
1. Download the website with the links to hotfile [URL]
2. Use grep to retrieve all the links to [URL]
3. Feed the links I recieve from grep into wget and download the works of them.
The problem I'm getting is when I use grep, It retrieves the entire line of html code where "hotfile.com" is shown. So here is an example of one link I receive in the output:

I need to write a script called '~/get_birthrate' which when invoked with a two letter country abbreviation(i.e, au,ch,ni), extracts the appropriate line which contains the information about the country's birth rate from the [URL] (where "ca.html" should be replaced with the appropriate two letter abbreviation). The output should look like:

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am running Linux from a DVD, not installed. I am not good with installing software, but since the DVD cannot be corrupted, I am content to operate this way. Lately, I have been having problems that previously did not occur. When I try to click on the checkbox to get rid of emails, it doesn't register in most cases, or when it does, I am clicking multiple times so it registers twice, meaning it is unchecked again. Even more frustrating is some issues that are affecting my ability to update my business. I am trying to modify spreadsheets (text not calculations).
Whenever I try to click & drag to select something to change, it keeps jumping around to select only some of what I want, something else or some combination of the 2. When I try to copy and paste several fields from 1 column to another, everything from the several fields in the source column ends up together in the last field in the target column. I am also trying to download some images from a website. There is a single column of links to the images. I have to click on the link to get to the image in order to copy it, then back out to continue looking for more links to do the same.
My computer keeps jumping back 2 steps, then forward 2 steps, and sometimes I lose my place in that list. I could deal with it if it were a small number of links, but this is a list of probably close to 20,000 links. Again, i am operating off of a live DVD so this should not be corruptible, but this has just started happening, and has been an issue the last several sessions.
At my Uni, we use a web-based login for our internet connections. Its based off of Cisco, and every Wednesday night every computer on campus must re-enter their credentials to use the network.
Normally on my several computers I simply pull up the Terminal, point links to google.com using

Naturally, this is EXTREMELY time consuming, as I have about 5 computers located around campus and must physically walk to the machines and login every single week.
My question is, How would I formulate a program that does the following;
1) checks for connectivity (i.e. is able to reach/resolve to the greater part of the internet) and
2) automatically fills in the credentials on the links login page?
I want to install Ubutn-Server-9.04 on a disk.
This old windows-used disk has three patitions:
1 # -- Primary NTFS
2 # -- Logical NTFS
3 # -- Logical FTA32
I plan to install Ubuntu on 1# Partition and override the old OS-Windows7. but the Data on 2# and 3# partition can still be preserved?

If I reboot or logoff of machine upon re-boot the same subscription requests appear.
It is re-producible and happens every time. If I don't reboot or logoff the subscription request will no longer appear.
When I set my preferences via the Appearance Preferences dialogue they are not preserved after reboot. It always reverts back to Visual Effects; "None" upon reboot or logoff.
"Theme" and "Background" preferences are preserved but "Fonts" and "Visual Effects" are not.
The None setting forces my PC to exhibit wacky renderings making it unusable. Normal or Extra settings function as expected.

but now that fckeditor is available for mediawiki (very beta), it has become much better to just stick with wikitext format. There are only a few conversions to do: tables, links, and bulleted lists. The lists are a fairly simple regex and fckeditor magically reformats the tables, so all I'm left with is the links. But I'm not a regex master. How do I reformat code...

FC13, KDE desktop.I am puzzled as to how KDE goes about deciding what windows and apps will be "on" during the next visit, and their positions. Because I do other media-related things with the system, I don't have it load up myth's front end automatically. I prefer having a "konsole" open and ready, For whatever reason, the "konsole" always comes up squarely over the KDE desktop panel.I've tried moving the console aside, to a preferred position, but no matter how I exit X (log out, computer shutdown by the "start" menu, shutdown via command line), the console is back where it is.The SIZE gets saved, but not the position.Similarly, sometimes I accidentally leave an app open when I do a reboot. Network Configuration, for example, or Firefox. When I log back in, there it is! And I'm not sure how to un-preserve that.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI was having trouble with using my T500's internal microphone, and I figured out that if I run alsamixer in terminal, and if I increase the level of "internal mic," then it works fine. Now the problem is that it seems periodically the setting reverts and I lose the mic volume and I have to re run alsamixer and do the setting again.
Is there any way I can set this setting in KDE, and preserve the setting once it is done?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have Ubuntu 9.10 dual booting with Windows7.My ext3 /home is mounted as F: in windows.I share a firefox profile between them so that when i am in Windows my firefox uses the same profile as it does when in Ubuntu.It all worked great until recently. I am unable to save files by right clicking and save as. In the config i am unable to set a directory to save to. It neer asks me where to save to. Just nothing happens. some off my book marks are all messed up as well, my rss feeds have the same post on some random website every time i log on and i have to manually refresh to get the correct feeds back. I am unable to delete the random bookmark.

now i can select and use the new resolution - until next reboot. after an reboot 1280x720 is again not available. even if i work with sudo - the resolution isnt there....

I'm working on a Soekris net4801 that is running an unknown distro of Linux. The kernel is 2.4.29, and iptables is v1.3.4.
I can't work out how to save the iptables. I searched the whole system for files/folders containing the name "iptables" and got 3 results:
/user/local/lib/iptables
/sbin/iptables
/lib/iptables
I've tried iptables save, iptables-save and iptables save active.
"iptables save" and "iptables save active" give me an invalid argument error. "iptables-save" isn't a valid command. "iptables --help" gives me a list of valid switches, none of which have to do with saving.
how I can save the iptables?
Whenever I click a website link to a .pdf I get this error message, "Could not launch Adobe Reader 8.1.2. Please make sure it exists in PATH variable in the environment. If the problem persists, please reinstall the application." Even though there is no Adobe Reader installed on my p.c.
I then have to right click the link and "Save link as How do I set the PATH variable so that Evince can open the document directly without first having to save the link?

I have a script for the Sangoma wanpipe drivers that I modified to add the LSB information so that "update rc.d wanrouter defaults" runs correctly. The symbolic links from rcN.d to init.However, when I reboot the system, all the rcN.d links have disappeared and wanrouter isn't automatically started!I've never seen this kind of behaviour from a Unix based system in 20+ years, so I'm baffled as to how to fix the problem.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to set up scripts to execute Luckybackup and make them easily available to all users of the computer. Following the recommendation of the web site (http://ubuntu-tutorials.com/2006/12/...-all-versions/) I tried to set up a folder (/usr/local/myprograms/luckybackup_scripts) containing the scripts, and to put symlinks pointing to the scripts in /usr/lock/bin.
The object of this design was to have my local programs clearly separate from any other programs, and to point to them with symlinks in /usr/local/bin. is because /usr/local/bin is automatically searched when a terminal command is issued so the user need not specify the whole path to the script.The problem that I ran into was that the system would not let me create symlinks to scripts in /usr/local/myprograms/luchybackup_scripts. While ths symlink was created, it was invalid and did point to any target. The only symlinks that I could create had to be in the same folder as the target, namely /usr/local/myprograms/luckybackup_scripts. I tried to create the links using Terminal and "sudo ln -s
Links from third party applications do not work any more. When I go to click on links from PDF,s or from Pino or KeePass nothing happens. I've tested different browsers Opera, Chrome, Midori etc same thing links just don't work from third party apps.

I just installed Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS i386 on my desktop after not having it on there for while then decided to do a clean install on my laptop, which had 10.04, but I had screwed a few things up on it... (and a fresh install is always nice
Anyway, no big deal, just kinda weird: Whenever I google something that I had just googled before on my desktop (ie, a program or something that I had installed, and wanted to install on my laptop also), the link for the result is purple, as if I had already visited that link. But I know I haven't because this is a completely fresh install, I reformatted and everything. The only thing I can think of is that somehow the history/clicked links got transferred to the live CD from my desktop, as I used the same disc for both installs, but this seems a bit improbable imo.
EDIT: I just realized that I did NOT use the same disc for both installs, I couldn't find the original so I burned the .iso onto another one for my laptop install....
When in Chrome or Firefox periodically I want to place a shortcut to a web page on my desktop. To do this I click on the button just to the left of the address and drag it up to the desktop. Sometimes this works but more often this creates a copy of the HTML page. And if the web page is HTTPS I get an error. I can drag to the Bookmarks Bar and it copies the link fine. Then I can drag it from the Bookmarks Bar to the desktop. I know I can create a launcher for the web page on my desktop but that's a lot of trouble. Why would dragging to the desktop work sometimes and not others? Are there any work arounds or fixes? I am using Ubuntu 10.4, Chrome 6.0.472.53 and FF 3.6.10.
