Ubuntu :: No Internet - Where Can I Donwload All The Software

I don't have the internet at home but I have it in a communautariste library. So I can't donwload the software from Ubuntu, anyway, could I?
I'd like to know : where can I donwload all the software I can see in the libary selection of the ''start'' menu. Sorry but I don't know the name of it in english, I use the french version.
If the software are on different website, can you please give me a good web adress for a site that contain many good software compatible with Ubuntu. Site like sourceforge has many software but all of them require 55 other paquets!
Also, is there a place where I can donwload a mega-pack full of pacquets, so I can search on it at home instead of searching for them, one by one, on a web search engine.

I am getting seriously pissed off and dissappointed at the way things are handled here i bought some music from rhythmbox and after a long journey in disconnections and reconnections i finally got the files in my U1 storage ( rhythmbox still says "Transfering to ur U1 storage" in mydownloads ) now how am i supposed to download all this files??? i can't download an entire folder in web browser ( i can only do one file at a time ) and i am not able to find another way through rhythmbox or anywhere else after reading one hour of irrelevant tutorials and faqs ( i have a headahe at this time, so even if there was a way i probably would not understand it :D )
is there a way or do i just have to suffer downloading all my files one by one ???? and btw: i had to do all this on a virtual machine becuz noscript got in the way of adding my pc to the account ( w/ allowing all the servers it still blocked something) and rhythmbox crashed somewhere in the process and after restarting my pc, it kept getting stock when pressed the check out button any way that's not important i actually prefer it this way to have one dedicated virtual machine for U1 music

When I click download DVD 4.7 GB, on any browser (I tried in Firefox, Opera and Chrome) It started to download 4.3 GB instead of 4.7- The first Download was 4.2 GB and I though that was wright, but the checksum didn't match. Now It started download only 4.3 GB Why is that? How can I solve this ?

I am trying to connect my desktop to my laptop over a non-internet connected LAN, but when i enable the LAN connection on my desktop (the one with the wireless) its internet stops working.
it is a very similar problem to this except that i am using ubuntu for the machine with the two connections.
right now i have my wireless on the 192.168.1.* address space, while the LAN is to be on 192.168.5.*
note: my goal is not to share internet with my laptop, just be able to connect to it and the internet at the same time.
desktop: ubuntu 9.10 , wireless and LAN
laptop: windows xp, LAN only

I'm trying to set up a wireless AP with Internet sharing. I currently have the AP setup with hostapd and a dhcp server. The clients can connect but there is not Internet sharing. Now my situation is somewhat uniqe in that my internet connection is my teathered android cell phone. The tether app is azilink and i use openvpn to create a virtual networking interface(tun0).

On this box I have Two seperate Ubuntu installations. Recently in both I seem to be having the same problem. I initially can connect to the internet as per normal and use any internet application. But after a period of time, sometimes just minutes, sometimes hours, even though the icon says connected, I cant update pages or send emails etc because there is no actual connection. My Physical connection is good I know - My Ubuntu laptop and Windows gamming PC connect fine during this period. So
Does this suggest an intermittent hardware fault or is there some thing in Ubuntu I can check to make sure that it is setup correctly and nothing has been corrupted? I am a lay PC person - I dont really want to be command prompting - Plug & Play and Point & Click is my limit.

After upgrading to Ubuntu 10.04, I'm not able to make any connection to the internet with either my netbook through WiFi or my computer on wired LAN. I can, however, ping my Solaris machines and Macbook. How do I fix this?

I tried to install Xubuntu 10.10 Maverick as dual boot on my laptop. However when xubuntu is on, I can't find a way to connect to internet. When I try the 2 arrows on the up-right corner the option for wireless is deemed. I tried offline/online, that did not work either. when I click the firefox It says you are not connected.

I recently installed ubuntu on my mom's computer but I can't get the mouse to move trough the touch pad and I suspect the USB is not working either, because I can't get anything to work trough the USB, and the Internet is not working trough the cable, and I think wireless as well. OpenSuse 11.4 Asus Netbook 1000H Following other members in the forums I have installed Opensuse 11.4 on the Netbook. In the early days Ubuntu Netbook Remix worked well for me. But this has been discarded, and the "one size fits all" Ubuntu had become slow and cumbersome. So..... onto my post. Opensuse is working well. The install went beautifully.
It detected the Wireless Internet and I am able to get on line. I also need to share the Internet connection to a desktop. This is done via a small network switch. Thus far I cannot do this. I tried to use ifup to configure a static ip but this busted my Wireless configuration. I went back to knetwork manager. Then I tried to set up the wired network using knetwork manager and under IPV4 "share" the connection. But this blanks out any possiblity of a static address and substitutes dhcp. My desktop cannot ping the this dhcp address. Ubuntu had this thing called Firestarter? - from memory. This configured the system to sharing the network.

I installed Suse 11.2 on clean HD. I cannot connect to the internet. Seems like Suse didn't install drivers for on board ethernet card. It is a Marvell Yukon 88E8056. I'm new to this and don't know how to install the drivers.

I have SUSE 11.0 set up to act as a router/firewall for my home network to the internet through a cable modem attached to an Ethernet card. When I was laid off several years back, I found information that let me connect my network to an ISP via a standard serial modem. I am considering going to the Sprint U1901 4G USB modem and dropping cable internet. Sprint claims the U1901 is Linux compatible. My thoughts are that using the 4G modem should be similar to the old dialup modem. I had a script that connected to the internet whenever internet traffic was detected. Unfortunately, I did not save notes on what I had done to setup the modem to dial automatically, and I have been unable to locate information that seems good to set this up again. I already know that all I had to do to get routing working was simply replace the internet port in the firewall/routing script with the port for the modem. So I assume that is rather trivial.
Would you please point me to a doc, perhaps SuSE specific, that gives reasonable directions on how to set up a "dial on demand" ISP connection? I assume that the 4G modem will be very similar to my old serial modem so that a dial on demand script will work. I did find a dial on demand howto, however, it did not seem to apply.

When i boot my computer and open ubuntu version 10.04.1 the internet wireless connection i have connected automatically. Now, for one reason i don't know, the internet did not connect to the internet. The progam display a message to uncheck the checkmark in the File Menu. After doing this, i refresh the system but it still not connect.

I have a linux box (fedora) with two ethernet cards eth1 and eth2. On eth1 I successfully configured a PPPOE internet connection. Such that from the server I can browse the internet. On eth2 I wired it to a wireless router essentially to provide the wireless cloud. On eth2 I also configured dhcp, such that the Linux box is both PPPOE and DHCP server.However my clients on the LAN cannot access the Internet.
On passing the routing command I get
Destination Gateway Iface
196.44.x.y 0.0.0.0 ppp0
192.168.1.0 0.0.0.0 eth2 (my subnet)
0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 ppp0.
The router (functioning as a wireless access point mainly) has a fixed IP address of 192.168.1.2 and eth2 has IP address 192.168.1.1. The dhcp file running on Linux has been set with option router (Gateway) 192.168.1.1. I cannot figure out how to correctly set the routing table such that my clients on wireless can access the internet cloud. I googled and googled but no solid solution. Any suggestions?

I want to set a up a network of inter connected pcs, for example on pc A linux is installed.now pcs B, C , D, etc should connect to A and do there work, for example A want to do C/C++, development, whereas B wants to do some PERL development or whatever, this is just an example, 2 different pc users might do same work also, and the connecting pcs may have Windows or linux or bsd.OSes now what h/w or s/w is required and what steps are required to set up this network, main pc would be connected to internet and also connected pcs might want to use internet also..have installed opensuse edulife , and use this as PC A for testing.. and I use bridged dsl Broadband connection to connect to internet , by the username and password provided by the ISP, in windows its easy to setup this connection, however not able to do on linux,

i have desktop computer with ubuntu 9.10 no wireless but with Ethernet card and i have my laptop dell with wifi witch is connected to the internet running on xp, i would like to connect my desktop to the internet thought my laptop using a cable between them, so i connected them and entered ip an subnetmask for both of them for the ethernet and enabled 1-"allow other network users to connect through this computer's internet connection" 2-"allow other network users to control or disable the share internet connection" on my laptop (windows xp) and every thing seams ok connection wise bet when i start firefox on ubuntu (desktop) it gives address (on any site) not found as if there is no connection. but on both PCs the local area network in connected ok!!?

i decided that i would dual boot my Dell XPS 1530 runnin vista and ubuntu 9.10 well i installed and everything ran smooth then i tried to connect to the internet well, wireless was not working at all so i researched and found out somethings. I hooked up to my modem wired internet and updated my system and used the broadcom driver It worked i connect to my router but it was running really really slow
so i did some more research and found this [URL]and installed wireless backports well i didnt check in the source box to tick the backports option and when i restarted the wireless was not working again and neither was my modem wired internet

I just installed Ubuntu for the first time and I'm having some problems with my Internet connection in Ubuntu. I have a wired connection; I also have a router connected, but this computer gets access directly through the cable so I doubt this matters.So, as I've said I cannot connect to the internet. When I click on the Network Manager (is that how it's called?) I don't have any networks listed under "Wired Networks". However, if I run Ubuntu from the disk I can connect to the Internet; I also had access during the installation.

Last night I switched from Windows XP to Ubuntu. This morning I could connect to my wireless network, but not access the internet. I tried several things like manually setting my IP address, but nothing seemed to work, then I found a solution on another site:

After I performed that action, I could access the internet.I then spent an hour and a half downloading and installing updates, before being prompted to reboot my laptop. I did so, but then could not access the internet again.I have now spent my entire afternoon browsing the internet (on another computer), trying to find a solution. I tried that command again, which now does not work. I have also tried different DNS settings and even plugged an ethernet cable into my laptop, but the internet still doesn't work.

What is the easiest way to use SSH over the internet with Putty? I have a Symbian phone with Putty installed and I was hoping I might be able to run some commands remotely on my 10.04 desktop with it. I've found a few tutorials but it seems like they deal with local networks and not over the internet.
