i use ubuntu 9.04 with lamp and i enabled mod_rewrite module for apache2 so i enabled 3 sites on which i am working. their configuration files in the folder etc/apache2/sites-available are identic even their absolute paths. it'all identic except their names. Below there is the content of one of these configuration files:

I've moved a web site from one server to another.I'm also moving the domain name to the new server.In Apache I've got the web site configured up and running with no problems. What I'd like to know if this is possible. I'm wanting to avoid a complete web site rewrite. I've looked into mod_rewrite but I don't think this is right.I only want the web site to look aesthetically pleasing. So if it's not possible so be it. (I'm not a programmer but do have access to the code)
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am running a website using a Fedora 9/ Apache 2 platform. I have added two new disks to the same server and installed Fedora 12 (I don't have both sets of disks in at the same time either the old ones with F9 or the new ones with F12). Having copied 'all' of the settings over to the new F12 installation it only serves pages on localhost not on the external IP as the F9 version does.
I have now installed F9 (got rid of F12) onto the new disks and copied the settings from the old installation onto the new disks and the server once again serves up pages. The only hardware changes are the disks being popped in and out between restarts as I swap between the old and new installations.
Hopefully there is some obvious (to someone) difference between F12 and F9 that would account for this.I have messed with settings for a while now and am almost at the point of paying for RHEL to see if that does the job.
I've only installed Ubuntu 10.04 Server yesterday, and it was the first time I had ever used it. As far and I can tell I have my Apache server up and running. When I go to localhost I get the 'It works!' page.
I tried checking my port in Windows, after I have Xampp loaded up, it says the port is working fine, and the site loads up properly, which leads me to believe the problem not in my router.
I've installed ddclient and put the proper information in as far as I can see but it still doesn't work. I've been testing my port here: [url]

I used to be able to watch Streaming Video from this site (It flowed continuously):and now that I have upgraded the speed of my DSL Internet Connection from 512kbps to 1 MBPS the video no longer flows. My problem with Video Streaming is only with the above site, all other similar web sites work perfectly. I have spoken to my internet service provider and they say there is no problem with my connection.The web site is a 24 hour news media site from Australia and contains no offensive material.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm having a mare with SSL with Apache. I have set it up and if I go to the follwoing address http://192.168.1.2 it seems to work and the pages are delivered to my browser. However if I try to access it from an exernal PC it will not work.
I can get to the non-ssl part of the site so the static ip is resolved and the port forwarding all works.
Does any one have any ideas (and in fact i think I may have just solved it - Ports - 80 mis open but I haven't done anything with 443. Will check it out and post back.
I have no idea why, but my website times out as soon as you try to use the cart.(which invokes SSL)It seems to have happened after I went live from testing, but I checked my configurations, and I can't see anything awry in my apache2 confs.Has anyone run into this before?I don't know how or why this happened or how to even begin fxing it

I've been on a quest to enable full routing through my openvpn tunnel between my office and the colo. Masquerading will work, however it will throw off anything key based and makes a lot of things just more difficult and vague in general. Is there an easy way to do this via iptables? I tried using quagga hoping it would magically solve my problems, however it does not seem to do my routing for me . I just did a basic static route within zebra...
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have three locations with a central office connected to two remote locations. At the central office I run on a cisco asa 5505 two site to site vpns. The remote end of the first site is a checkpoint firewall , and the remote end of the second site is racoon on debian. Both sites are up and working. However, where at the first site traffic goes both ways, at the second site it only works from the central office to the remote office.
For example, I can ssh from a host in the central office to a host in the first remote site (through checkpoint firewall,) then ssh back from that host at the remote office to any host in the central office. In contrast, after I ssh from a host in the central office to a host in the second remote office (through racoon), I cannot see the central office hosts (ping the ip address of a central office host, ssh, etc. all fail.) The vpn settings at the central office (the cisco asa 5505) are identical. So it seems to me that some routing magic is missing on the host running racoon at the second remote office. Where would such setting reside? racoon config files? iptables?
Maybe a site-to-site Ouija board connection.

The company desided to create a corporate Website on a remote hosting and desided that the site's domain should be company.net which is same as local network's domain name. So now it is not possible to reach that corporate website from within the company's local network because, as I guess, bind9 which is installed on above menioned PDC looks for company.net on a local webserver. Is there a possibility to let people from this local network browse the remote site?

I am trying to setup a virtual machine server as a web development environment. Install and setup is going correct. To avoid any accidents I have the apache alias set to www.example.dev instead of www.example.com. The URL will redirect no problem but I need to find a way to have every instance of a link (example.com) show up as (example.dev) so that whole site will function on the server without linking to the live external site. I'm using git as a version control system that will push certain commits to my live site and thus want to avoid changing any configuration files to get this desired effect on my virtual machine. How to do this server side, maybe via PHP, apache2.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a registered domain that resolves (via dyndns) xxx.mydomain.com to my external facing router -easy no issues there. Behind the router I have several machines (some VMs) running webservers, mail etc... What I want to be able to do is redirect the external traffic based on xxx to the relevant internal machine and serve the content back to the external world.
I have tried using a http rewrite of xxx.mydomain.com to the relevant machine an it works fine from within my network, however externally the re-direct fails as the master DNS servers have no record of internal DNS setup in my network (obviously).
So is there anything I can do to get xxx. recognized externally? I'm only just starting to get my head around how DNS, HTTP, TCP etc all hang together. Am I barking up the wrong tree with rewrite? Should I be looking at proxys?
To update it or just to rewrite if it is unstable.

I'm running slackware-current and I noticed that certain packages (qt, qt4, libplist) rewrites /etc/rc.d/rc.4 to it's original state. I modified my rc.4 to start SLiM (Simple Login Manager) before GDM/KDM/XDM and these packages just overwrite it. Fortunately, with slackpkg I don't have to apply these changes, but it's annoying to deny it every time.
I guess it's not entirely -current related, since qt3-3.3.8b appeared long time ago in extra/kde3-compat, but I can't tell for sure or test it right now (all my machines run -current)
