Ubuntu :: Make K3b Close A Data DVD+RW?

Dec 8, 2010

I'm trying to backup my data files to a DVD+RW and for some reason even though I set k3b to "No Multisession" k3b doesn't close the DVD. What do I have to do to make k3b burn a data DVD+RW and close the stupid thing instead of leaving it open for more data?

Software :: Make A SSH Persist After Tty Close?

Jul 1, 2010

I use a reverse SSH tunnel to log into my university machine from home. In order to do so, i start the java client that let me have ssh access to my university machine (since is behind a nat), then start the ssh -R command. However the java client is defective and brings my firefox to 99% cpu and ram leak, If I close the java client, i also lose the ssh -R tunnel and the connection. I tried to give disown, but again when the TTy is closed i also lose the tunnel. Is there any way to make it persistent? at least for an hour once i have closed the java client?

Fedora :: Cleaning Up - Make Epiphany Remeber Tabs After Close Browser And Open It Again?

Nov 13, 2009

I just moved to Fedora 11 from Ubuntu and I am very happy, not even thinking to go back to Ubuntu (because of gma500 driver support). How can I clean up Fedora? On Ubuntu I could go to Synaptics, remove Installed (not residetial) packages, I coud use terminal sudo autoremove, autoclean, clean. On Fedora I found out only one so far: yum clean all. Is there anything else I should now, can you share with me how you are cleaning up your Fedora? Second thing, which is not only related to Fedora, is there any chance to make Epiphany remeber tabs after I close the browser and open it again? Don't really want to use any other browser.

Programming :: Make Data Persist Through Webpages Via Forms?

Aug 17, 2010

For a website I'm making in PHP, I need a link on a particular dynamically generated page, called "Make a friend". Clicking this will take the user to a page where they have to provide their username and password, and if it's correct, the database will be updated. When the "make a friend" page is generated, the link will have a ?author=32 (say) argument, to reflect the author's id in the database. Now my problem is, that I need the author AND username and password as arguments to the "make a friend" script. How do I do this?
Instead of making the link a link, I've been toying with the idea of making it a form button (which will look better anyway), and using a <input type="hidden"> argument, for the NEXT page, which will be the page requesting the username and password, but I still can't seem to come up with a viable solution somehows.

Networking :: Make Opnet Guru To Get Data From Tcpdump Tool (command)?

Jan 15, 2011

I have a WAN network that i need to do some analysis on, for the traffic flows. I did lots of googling to figure out what useful tool to collect the packet informations.I found this site http://scrutin.wordpress.com/2007/04...-tcpdump/witch i made great use of to recognize the tcpdum tool.
I also have a network simulator on windows platform wich is Opnet Guru, (by the way.. is there a linux version for this simulator?).
MY QUESTION IS::
How can i feed the Opnet Guru with the flows data collected with the
Code:
tcpdumpwith its different options?
NOTE: in the Opnet Guru invironment there is an object called the profile that is being used to customize and genarate data flows with the desired characteristics to simulate the real flows. So i need to feed the Opnet with the fresh data collected with the tcpdump tool (command) instead of using the built-in profile.

Fedora :: Fill /dev/sdxx With Random Data - Make A "professional Effort" At Encrypting The Partition

Jul 5, 2011

If this is correct [URL] I can expect that it will take more then 16 days to fill my 2TB partition from /dev/urandom. That's not workable for me. dd if=/dev/urandom of=/dev/sdxx has been running for 36 hours, and I need to finish setting up the filesystem. But I also need to make a "professional effort" at encrypting the partition. Ok, so I can try

Code: sudo /sbin/badblocks -c 10240 -s -w -t random -v /dev/sdxx So, what is "10240" doing there? Yes, I rtfm, "is the number of blocks which are tested at a time", but is that for the partition size? If so, then I would want to increase it to 204800 for a 2TB partition, right? If not, what should I do?

Ubuntu Servers :: Access The Data In .fbd Data File

Feb 19, 2011

We purchased a new database system at work last October, ditching the old system because of a lack of support from the vendor. This is a retail Point of Sale and Backoffice database system. I am not sure what system the new one runs on, but the system we replaced was a Firebird data base. The reason I am posting is because we are now in need of the information contained in the old database which was not completely imported into the new system.

Basically the problem is this: The database in on a Windows XP system and I found a copy of SQL Manager Lite 2008 on the system, which after quite a bit of studying, I figured out how to extract the database into a removable file. I have this file (178MB) on a USB stick in a file called Backoffice.fbd.

My studying suggests to me that I can get into this database with MySQL. I have never used this and have no clue how to do this. All I want to be able to do get into the database and create tab deliminated spreadsheet files for each of the database sections (Customers, Repairs, Sales History, stock files, etc.) Is it possible to do this with Ubuntu and MySQL and if so, can expert suggest one or two things to get me started. While a guided tutorial would be nice because I am not an expert, I am willing to learn on my own if someone could point me in the right direction.

The problem is that data is read-only, and my program needs to modify it.
