i've been using a awk script to calculate my data... i have 3 files:
file a1.txt:

4
[code]....
the results were (3.5, 6 and 3) which is pretty easy.. now i want to combine all this into 1 file and each have different columns and called it avg.txt which have something like this in the end:
3.5 6 3
How would i calculate following values.Initial file
10 3
20 4
How would i calculate 3rd column which should be addition of value in 1 and 2nd column.File after calculation
10 3 13
20 4 24

All I want is a command that reads one data file with several columns and prints it in another one.However, whenever the value in one specific column alters, it prints one empty line in the new file. For example, consider the file

For a website I'm making in PHP, I need a link on a particular dynamically generated page, called "Make a friend". Clicking this will take the user to a page where they have to provide their username and password, and if it's correct, the database will be updated. When the "make a friend" page is generated, the link will have a ?author=32 (say) argument, to reflect the author's id in the database. Now my problem is, that I need the author AND username and password as arguments to the "make a friend" script. How do I do this?
Instead of making the link a link, I've been toying with the idea of making it a form button (which will look better anyway), and using a <input type="hidden"> argument, for the NEXT page, which will be the page requesting the username and password, but I still can't seem to come up with a viable solution somehows.

I would like to know how to make the file browser column width smaller than I can normally adjust with the mouse. I have minimized with the mouse, it is still too wide. Is there a minimum column width setting I am supposed to specify somewhere?

I'm using pyqt3 for my app and am lost on even how to attempt this task... On a vinyl cutter to have the blade pivot it must be offset from the center of the shaft it's on so say for example a .25mm offset would leave a .25mm unwanted vinyl attachment when the cutting is done. I somehow have to average or extrapolate that .25mm xy coordinate and add it to the hpgl plot file as a PUx,y; command? I have enclosed a simple sample file that has three images in it. In the corresponding hpgl file everything between the PU commands that are starting with PD are the code for that image (star for eg the pu to move to next image and then all PD for the next image and so on, so once the formula or procedure is figured out it can be applied to as many images there are in the file. Placing the new command at the head of each image PD group. Since there are absolute and relative cutters I enclosed the same exact plot for both types as the coordinates on relative can be negative numbers. Only PU and PD commands and a ";" as a command delimiter as sometimes many commands are on one line.The offset variable will come from a spinbox but .25 is good for an example.

Problem is simple but I can't figure out how to solve it, I tried any possible way that I know but with no result.I'm using simple perl script with DBI and do select from one table and do update in other table with results from select, but I can't preserve my '' returned from select when doing update. I simply want my '' from first table to be '' in second but postgres makes them real new lines. I tried to escape '' with , '',"",E(I mean E'value here') in front of value that updating but they are always real new lines not '' in new table.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to write a script to calculate the total amount of installed memory to use during an anaconda kickscript, so the swap file is created at 2 x the installed memory. I so far have the amount of installed RAM DIMMS but need a way to total them up and produce a varible I can use in the pre section of the install.

Note: on some servers there could be from 1 DIMM up to 16 DIMMS installed so the script needs to be able to handle this. I also can not use bc as it does not exist during the install stage. I am guessing I need a while loop to do this and use expr but do not know where to start for this logic.

what i want to do is be able to print column 3 and every column greater then 5. Has to be to the end of the line, since different filenames can have different amounts of words in them and the blank space is the separator. my current code works just fine if the file has no blank space.
