Software :: Songbird - Turns Up The Volume When The Song Changes?

Mar 21, 2010

Just installed songbird 1.4.3 on mandriva. Everytime I manually change a song, the volume turns up. So I always have to turn down the volume, so that it wont be to loud. This does not happen when songbird automatically change song, after one is done playing.

Fedora :: Songbird Repeats Every Second Song Endless?

Jun 24, 2010

I got a problem with my Songbird (1.4.3) on a Fedora 12 64 bit. When I play music and the first song is over, the song changes but the little loudspeaker symbol in the list, that displays the currently playing song, doesn't move to this song. It just stays on the first played one and also the title of the first one is displayed above the progress bar. But that's not all, when the song should change again (from second to third song), it won't do so. The second played song starts again and will be repeated again and again and Meanwhile the mentioned symbol just stays in front of the first song. Only if I press the "next" button two times the third song will be played. So I got to press "next" two times after every two songs. That makes listening to music nearly impossible. The problem occurred after installing a lot of updates (I had no fast internet connection for months so I now had to install all at once), so it is difficult to say which package causes the issue. Before that Songbird worked all fine for months. I would be glad to provide further information, but neither running songbird in terminal, nor the songbird error console shows up any error related to this behaviour. I also tried to delete the .songbird2 folder in my userhome, but it made no difference at all. Normally i would get the latest verion of the software at first, but since songbird dropped linux support, there is no newer linux version than the one installed on my system.

OpenSUSE Multimedia :: Volume Drops After Each Song?

Apr 18, 2011

here is the problem: for some reason, after switching song, sometimes even after starting song, my volume level gets to highest level, and when I try to lower it with my DELL Inspiron 9400 laptop's multimedia keys, it drops to minimal level (no sound). Then I have to adjust it in YAST Sound configuration or in Kmix panel - adjust "Master" chanell. But after another song switch - everythng starts all over.

As mentioned, to adjust volume I use multimedia keys. On DELL Inspiron 9400 laptop.
Opensuse version: 11.3

Used mixer: Kmix.
Used master channel (for multimedia keys): PCM

Volume level does't drop or increase, if I don't change song manually.

Fedora :: F11 Audio Volume Changes Everytime When Switch To New Song In Any Music Player?

Sep 2, 2009

First of all, this is not a rhythmbox issue, but a pulseaudio one. Everytime I click on next song (in rhythmbox or amarok), the master volume drops about 25 percent. Once the volume goes to 0, the volume cannot be modified without going into sound preferences and unmuting the volume for the application. This is *very* annoying. Basically, it means that everytime I click on next song, I need to follow that with 2 or 3 hits of up volume.

General :: Stop Song On The Laptop - Start Playing Same Song On The PC?

Sep 24, 2010

I'm looking for some pointers on a method to "transfer" the song-playing from my laptop to my PC, both running ubuntu. The use case is: I'm home listening to some song on the laptop. Then I realize how crappy the speakers are. Here's what I do *now*:

1. Stop playback on the laptop
2. Get up, go to the PC, open the music player
3. Find the same song
4. Try to find the same point in the song
5. Stop playback on the laptop
6. Start playback on the PC (the PC has good speakers)

Of course now I'm dreaming of having a "button" I push that does all this all by itself. Can anyone give me some pointers?

I love using linux. The main reason I use windows is because of my huge music collection and the lack of good programs to sort and open my music. There are a few apps nowadays that work good. The one I want to use is Songbird. I went to Ubuntu for about a week because all that stuff seemed to work good with it, but i couldnt configure my system as i wanted so i went back to slackware. Ubuntu Multimedia :: Can't Get Songbird To Start Again / Sort It?

Jun 10, 2010

I know, Songbird does not currently support Linux... I got the x64 .deb file off this website (http://skyzim.com/songbird-1-4-3-installer/) and installed it without issue. I got it up and running then screwed something up with the graphics and needed to reinstall. Now when I get the same file off the website, install it, then try to run I get an error "GLib-ERROR **: /build/buildd/glib2.0-2.24.1/glib/gmem.c:157: failed to allocate 14145530384 bytes". I tried doing a sudo apt-get remove libvisual-0.4-plugins as was recommended elsewhere to no avail. Anyone know how to get songbird up and running again? I did a "Removal" through synaptic to uninstall the first time, perhaps that is an issue?

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Songbird Search Takes Ages To Give Result

Jan 6, 2010

I really am a great fan of Songbird, but there's one thing that keeps annoying me: searching my music collection. I have about 12k songs (67GB) in my library, and using the search bar is pretty much a disaster: whatever I type it takes ages to come up with something, and if I delete any of the written to enter something new it hangs for like five minutes. This sort of forced me to look for specific songs myself or just keep it going on shuffle, none of which is a good solution.
I believe the problem is that songbird searches after every single typed character instead of waiting until I'm finished, which is a cool feature with smaller amounts of data to look through, but in my case it's just annoying and pointless. How to disable this feature? I am using Songbird 1.2.0, Build 1146.

Debian Multimedia :: How To Have Volume Buttons On Laptop Change 'pcm' Channel Volume Rather Than 'master'?

Jun 13, 2010

I'm running squeeze (last updated today), and everything has been working great. There is only thing that would simplify my life minutely..Anybody know how can I have the volume buttons on my laptop change the "pcm" channel volume rather than "master"? If they could control pcm, then I could adjust the volume coming out of my headphones or my computer speaker (both controlled by pcm, but not master...seems strange to me) with just one click.I tried to find this info online, but all results seem to refer to an older version. The simple "click here, set this" solution no longer is possible.
