View 4 Replieswhile writing my codes in g-edit, how do I know the in built library functions? Like in turbo C we can see the library functions? Is there any such features?How can I do that?
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhere are the definitions for C library functions located? It was just recently that I realized that header files don't actually define any functions, they merely include their prototypes.
For instance, stdio.h includes the following line:
Code:
This just means that the definition of printf() is located in another file. What file? Is there some kind of default shared object file that is automatically included during compilation?
Is there any library functions are available for encryption and decryption like windows. in windows we have wincrypt.h is there like that any thing is there in unix.

I am going to set up a Ubuntu installation on an external USB drive as per CS Cameron's advice in[URL]..I will put home on a separate partition and encrypt it when I reinstall Ubuntu using the inbuilt encryption in Ubuntu 10.04. (My data will be on there so it should be safe for a short while if the disk goes missing)
My question is: If I plug the USB drive into another computer which runs ubuntu (but cannot boot from USB), will ubuntu running in the "normal" way installed on the local fixed hard drive, be able to access the data on the partition if i tell it the password?
My Ubuntu 10.04 will not detect the inbuilt webcam on my Compaq Presario CQ61 laptop computer. This laptop only runs Ubuntu as I removed Windows when I got it home new from the shop a few years back. Haven't tried to get the webcam working until now. I have downloaded "Cheese" and when I run it I get the message No Device Found.I have also tried gstreamer-properties in a terminal and get the message video for linux 2 (v4l2): Cannot identify device '/dev/video0'
is it a lost cause to get my webcam working?
I installed Ubuntu 10.04.2 LTS version in to Asus eeeTopET1610 PT PC. It has the following sound card configuration:
Sound Driver:3.8.1a-980706 (ALSA v1.0.23 emulation code)
Installed drivers:
Type 10: ALSA emulation
Card config:
HDA Intel at 0xfbbf8000 irq 29
Audio devices:
0: ALC887 Analog (DUPLEX)
Synth devices: NOT ENABLED IN CONFIG
Midi devices: NOT ENABLED IN CONFIG
Timers:
7: system timer
Mixers:
0: Realtek ALC887.
There is no audio output coming from the inbuilt speakers. when headphone is connected, audio is available with headphone. But not with the internal speaker when headphone is not connected.
I've been running wubi for about 2 weeks now, and am completely new to all this. Everything was running fine, until yesterday when I restarted my laptop and the sound died. It had been working fine before, but now no sound comes out of the inbuilt speakers. However, the sound works perfectly through my headphones. Am running 11.04 on an Inspiron 1525, I don't know what other information you need, so if you ask me I'll try and find it. Also the sound works fine in Windows.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm reading about shared, static, and dynamic libraries. What is SDL? Is it static, shared, or dynamic?
I always thought a library would be a lot of .h and .cpp files compiled separately into .o files and then if you compiled your own program you could use the -l parameter to link the library and it was all compiled together. Now I'm not so sure.
I don't even see any SDL .cpp files in my system anywhere. All I have are lots of SDL .h files in /usr/include/SDL and I don't really understand the code in them.
I'm making a wild guess here: SDL is a shared library. SDL itself is NOT compiled into my program, therefore SDL must be on any system my program tries to run on. When I compile and link SDL all it needs is the header files to know what SDL function and objects it can use. And then on every system it uses an already compiled SDL shared library thingy somewhere.
So... where is that part of SDL? All I can find are header files.
I'm thinking the advantage of shared libraries is that someone could say update SDL on their own system and take advantage of the new features without having to download new executables with the new version of SDL compiled into them for every program that uses SDL.
So if I'm making an editor and a game engine and they both use a lot of the same .cpp and .h files that I wrote and I'm tired of updating one and then the other and I need to turn them into a library, then a shared library might be kind of a silly solution. I could just make a static library. Right? Because it's not SDL. Nobody else is ever going to use this library.
I have a lenovo 7757 model which has an inbuilt camera. I have FC9 working on it. However I cannot use the camera. How do I enable it? If someone could point me to a driver if it needs to be installed.

The sound comes out through the speakers of my Toshiba laptop even though my external mic is plugged into the mic ports. I can hear the other end (from the computer's speakers not from the head set of the mic) but the other end can't hear me. I went to system preference, sound, input and nothing is muted and when i talk through the mic the input level bar doesn't move. I typed arecord --list-devices and lsusb and i got the following results. Can anyone tells me what to do to get my mic works? Note that i use windows 7 on the othe partition and the mic just works fine.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI think that the solution is very simple, but I cannot reach this solution. I'm trying to build an B.so that uses A.so.
A.so is compiled using C;
B.so is compiled using C++;
Inside "Aso.h" file I'had declared:
Code:
#ifdef __cplusplus
extern "C" {
#endif
[code]....
There's no error to compile that, this library seems to be compiled correctly, but using the "nm" command the Aso.so functions appear with "U" of undefined. Trying to build an executable using the Bso.so library, I got this error: /lib/../lib/libBso.so: undefined reference to `foo(int, int, int)' I think that to solve this problem it's only link the Aso.so with the .o files generated at the compilation phase of my Bso. Using the "ldd" command I'm able to see that Bso.so depends on Aso.so, so what am I missing?
I have a Dell Inspiron Duo. Running Ubuntu 10.10 On my laptop, the enable/disable wireless and my F2 key share the same space and I need to press the Fn key to use F2 (I know supposed to go other way). But sometimes, they trade places. Where I that If I press the Fn key, it would enable/disable the wireless connections instead of doing F2.
What could be causing this and how do I stop it. This happens with not only my F2 key, but all the F functions. Also does anyone know how to reenable wireless after disabling it in Ubuntu. Pressing the enable/disable button does nothing after disabling and would require a boot to windows to reenable it.
