Fedora Servers :: Copied The Web Page Files To Its Document Root <var/www/html> & Disabled The Default Web Page?
Jun 8, 2009I have apache httpd server on my Fedora 10I got 2 problems:First : I copied the web page files to its Document Root <var/www/html> & Disabled the default web page. But when I visit http:/localhost ，it shows up the list of files in <var/www/html> as if a ftp server browsed in web page. So how can I set http://localhost load my default web page index.html ?Second :I want to set up a web server on Internet through my router . I applied for DDNS account & input it into router correctly . I set virtual host in server to redirect any access from port 80 to 192.168.1.2:80 in LAN . Just for in case , I also download and running the DDNS software & installed it on PC 192.168.1.2 in LAN . My DDNS provider is oray.cn . It's a Chinese server provider . I don't think there is anything wrong with oray.cn . But if you need its information just visit oray.cn (Google can translate it for you). So I want to know did I miss something to set up a web server in this kind of situation

May 31, 2011I'm trying to install new themes on ubuntu but it tells me that GTK + themes 'ubuntulooks'is not installed and won't load up the themes as it should. I went to package manager and installed it but still doesn't work. Themes to be installed, either overglossed or sickness-black. environment ubuntu 10.04.

Mar 13, 2010It's hard to tell for sure if this is related to a recent update or not. There've been a bunch for sure In any of the GUI the title bars, there used to be 3 boxes on the right end. Minimize, Maximize and close. They're gone. Totally vanished for all users.
L click on the icon near the left end of the title bar or a R click anywhere on the title bar brings up a menu with such options (and others), but I sure do miss my 'close' button!
Ubuntu Multimedia :: Change The Channel Gnome-volume-control Controls?
May 26, 2010How do i change the channel gnome-volume-control controls? I want it to control pcm but it controls master front. There used to be a setting right in the sound preferences but i think it disappeared with the 9.10 upgrade or at least i can not find it anymore. I've looked on the at gnome alsa mixer while changing the volume and master front gets controlled while pcm is always set to max. The problem with this is that master front does almost nothing to change the actual volume.
If i control pcm with the alsa mixer the volume range is fine. I've found a manual for gnome-volume-control on [URL].en and the pic there actually looks like i remember it looking. But i can not get to that screen. What i have looks completely different. Its a window with the tabs Sound Effects | Hardware | Input | Output | Applications. But there is no sight of any channel settings and the only slider there does the same as the applet one.

I have found that when using any theme I installed for Gnome, it only changes a few aspects of the desktop, like the window border is always the ambiance window border.
way to get my Equinox Gnome theme to work in the netbook edition.

Apr 15, 2011the whole "Unity" thing didn't appeal to me that much, i installed gnome-shell.everything went well except there doesnt seem to be any themes to windows and stuff now, the gnome-shell looks great, but open up a program or file browser and its all grey and buttons and menus are blocks, no minimize or maximize buttons (not sure if thats a gnome thing now) but just a blocky X in the top right corner to close windows.

Is there anyway to get the buttons on the left side of the screen, but still keeping the same look? I uploaded two screenshots just in case there is any confusion on the topic. (The blueish theme is Azenis, the default looking one is well, the default theme.)

Lately, the gnome desktop has begun switching between my chosen theme (new wave) and another (clear looks). It does this at boot up and will remain that way for a few boots then switch back. May 10, 2011I'm in Debian testing and I had Gtk+-3 from the apt-get. Now because I wanted to install Xnoise in Debian from source, I needed gtk+-2. So I installed gtk+-2 from the source. And after that Xnoise was installed and worked great. I've noticed that Xnoise theme was standard(gray). Note: I installed both of them to /usr/local(default/no prefix). But when I rebooted my computer, all Gnome themes was also gray. BTW: After reset I can't hear any sound in Xnoise, but this isn't the subject here. Therefor, I went to System->Preferences->Appearance and It tells me the following error in a yellow box(translated): "The theme won't seen as excepted because GTK+ Adwaita suit isn't installed."
I had the "clean theme" which is the default Gnome theme in Debian. Now all the themes have gone.... I can see only "Custom" which is ugly gray. How can I restore it?
General :: Centos - Can't Use Gnome Themes
Sep 7, 2010I'm experiencing weird issues with Gnome themes. Basically, when I use gnome-theme-manager and I choose a theme it... does not work. Nothing happens, nothing changes. Everything is working for pre-installed themes.
I thought there might be something with the theme I tried to install so I downloaded and tried over 50 themes. None of them works correctly.
On my second PC, I got Debian installed and everything is working correctly there, every single theme works.
Fedora :: Transfer Gnome Themes Between Machines?
Jan 29, 2010After much playing around with themes downloaded from Gnome art and system colors I finally arrived to a Gnome theme I really like. This was done in my laptop. Of course I chose the option "Save as..." in the theme tab in order to save the theme.
Now I want to transfer this theme to my netbook. Am I supposed to find a single* file containing the theme's settings? Where would be said file?
* Or would I need to transfer the stuff I used from Gnome art as well?
Fedora :: Gnome Shell And Icon Themes
Jun 5, 2011Seems many icon themes still don't really play nice with gnome shell. They work totally fine for the most part, except the tray icons, they like to change them to their own monochrome icons which usually look bad (and most of the time not even all of them are changed). Is there a way to make any icon theme use the default gnome shell symbolic icons? Right now I am using elementary and its mostly fine, but it changed the battery icon to an ugly smaller version. I'd love to be able to change it to the default icon.

Jan 6, 2010I've tried to download and install themes using the theme manager but they don't always appear in the list even after a response of a successful install. Wondering what themes are allowed and how to tell. I think I am using gnome-window-decorator, as that is running. I am using compiz with nvidia successfully. Do certain themes require a different window decorator like metacity?
Is is safe to switch between gnome-window-decorator and metacity and how do I do that? I have metacity installed: metacity-2.16.0.12.el5_4.1_x86_64 I tried this one: MCity-ClearlooksWithACherryOnTop.tar.gzbut it doesn't show up in the theme panel. From what I've read gnome-window-decorator is the old name for gtk-window-decorator. Can any gtk themes be used with the version of gnome in centos 5.4?

Mar 26, 2010On my laptop, I have stable installed. The original install was about two years ago, and I've just been keeping up with all of the stable updates. It is now an up to date Lenny. Over the months and years I have added several new icon themes to Gnome. I have noticed over time that several of the icon themes' icons have turned up missing. Screenshot-2 is a closeup.
As you can see, icon themes Amaranth, Crux and Dropline Etiquette are missing their respective theme icons. The icon themes work, when selected, but the icon theme icon in the "Customize Theme" window never appears. Several of the other icon themes are the same. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the icon theme packs, but that doesn't fix it. I also have a desktop system of Debian stable with some of the same icon themes as on the laptop, but it does not have this problem. However, it is a much newer installation.

Jul 15, 2009I have apache installed and I have it all setup so that when I create a user, in their home directory i created a folder called public_html and then that user can upload web content. Users then can browse to their site by going to[URL],,.How can I get apache to show a different or default page if the user does not have a index.html file in their public_html folder. Cause if they dont, you get a 401 saying you dont have permissions to view, etc. So id like apache to default to something else if the user doesnt have a index.html.

http://localhost its opening but when iam trying to open the same using my ip address i.e. http://172.31.73.4 its not opening..instead iam gettin an error message like this in firefox

Nov 14, 2010I came across this script a while back that i found. What i want to do is edit the script to create a default web page in /var/www/html a new user is added through the script.What the script does now is adds a user and sets a password for the user. What possible way (either through a combination of python or c or some other language) could i add to the shell script to do this? I've tried just dointhe command to touch index.html /var/www/html but it puts it on the desktop. Here's the script....
