The problem is that none of the video players doesn't play video, they show only black window and play audio.
I have Fedora 11 Leonidas, fully up-to-date.
I have installed rpmfusion and livna repository.
I have installed following packages:
When I try to play video with totem, it doesn't output any error, but just doesn't play video.
with mplayer:
xine and kaffeine just say:
vlc:
I tried several different files, which works perfectly in windows and ubuntu.
I installed windows binary codecs for mplayer to /usr/lib/codec/
Anyone else struggling to play iplayer video? I've got the proprietary Flash plugin, which means it's probably not this "SWF Authentication" thing that there's been so much talk about.
I've rebooted, tried all sorts of tinkering, it loads the applet (I can see that Flash is loading OK because other things work, and right clicking on the applet gives the Flash menu)
However, clicking the play button does nothing.
when i try to play a video, from internet it is showing the message 'Either javascript turned off or download and install latest adobe flash player'. But eventhough I downloaded and installed adobe flash player I am unable to play any video and still it is giving the above message. what is the reason?

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy ubuntu(10.10) installation takes a relatively longer time (90 seconds) to boot. I think part of the problem might be related to an error message during boot related to usb drivers.
Code:
[2.717076] usb 4-1: new low speed USB device using ohci_hcd and address 2
[3.244051] usb 4-2: new full speed USB device using ohci_hcd and address 3
[12.029046] /build/buildd/linux-2.6.35/drivers/hid/usbhid/hid-core.c: usb_submit_urb(ctrl) failed
I have attached the relevant part of dmesg output also.
I've been using Thunderbird 3.0.x for some time and found in it a good replacement of TheBat. However, few days ago, ubuntu being ubuntu crashed and since then, Thunderbird freezes after 10 seconds every time I try to start it, sending CPU usage through the roof. I have 8 imap accounts in it and my profile folder is ~2.8gb I tried purging the installation. I tried fsck on all partitions. Windows Thunderbird using the same profile folder works just fine.

Is there a way for the time at the top of the screen to display seconds as well as the date ?
My clock seems to be about :40 seconds off... before i upgraded from f-13 i had my time controlled by ntp(how to verify ntp is enabled) ? even with network time = yes, it seems to lag a little.
I figured out the network time. it is under a whole separate menu for some reason.
Is there a way to get weather/ temperature like in classic gnome ?
Rite now my clock reads: tue 3:50 pm...Is there a way i can make it read: tue, aug 20, 2011 3:50:45 pm
time() API gives the number of seconds since 1970 Jan 1st 00:00:00 without considering leap seconds. How to get the number of leap seconds which needs to be considered in the value returned by time()..(gmtime will convert time_t to struct tm* and considers leap seconds. I am trying to write an API which will do the same function as gmtime)
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've been playing around with Damn Small Linux 4.4.10 on my Dell Inspiron 3000 laptop for quite a while now, and this is the first time I've been downright stumped. To make a long story short, I'm trying to play 480p video on a machine with a 233 MHz Pentium processor, 112 MB of ram, and a Neomagic MagicGraph 128XD graphics card (NM2160). Crazy? Maybe, but I don't think so. I'm using MPlayer set to Xv mode with the XFree86 4.3.0 server, and so far, I've been able to get it to play 360p mpegs with minimal stuttering. However, MPlayer crashes with 480p. This is because the 128XD only has 2 MB of memory, which, after the 1024x768x16 screen takes its share, doesn't leave enough room for a 640x480 overlay.
The creators of MPlayer are aware of this limitation, and suggest adding the following line to my XF86Config file: Option "OverlayMem" "829440"
As I understand it, this is supposed to extend the video card's frame buffer into system memory, thus allowing the higher resolution video to play. However, it doesn't work, based on this output from my XFree86 log file: cannot reserve 829440 bytes for overlay...
Some other suspicious-looking lines from the log file:
My problem is this: the video that I receive during a video call will freeze after about 30 to 60 seconds. Before that, it works fine. And the outgoing video (that which I send to the contact on the other end of the call) is fine throughout.
If my contact resets their video by turning it off and then on again during the call, it will usually work again for a few seconds. Then, as always, it freezes.
So, I am clearly receiving the signal. But maybe I am overloading something? Is this a graphics card problem?

I've managed to confirm that I can reach my home network via ssh from a remote location through my SMC Barricade when it is directly connected to the desktop machine but when the second router is put back into the chain ssh requests time out. The second router is a Linksys WRT 54GL running the Tomato firmware. The chain looks like this: ISP's router (bridged) --> Barricade -->WRT54GL-->desktop
The Barricade has port 22 forwarded to the Linksys' WAN address and it in turn forwards to the desktop address. It appears that it is a setting on the Linksys firmware that is preventing the remote connection. I've looked through the various settings many times but cannot see anything that would cause the problem.
Linux bash inline command to execute a program and limit the resource. As I know, to limit the resource I can use ulimit command. But, the problem is when I set the CPU time limit 1 second, and then I want to execute another program with CPU limit 2s, the ulimit command return an error like this: bash: ulimit: CPU time: cannot modify limit: Operation not permitted and absolutely my program killed in 1 second. So, How can I make the second program running with the CPU time limit 2 seconds?
View 3 Replies View RelatedMovie and translation are 32 seconds out of sync. There are 2 ways to resolve:
1. edit all zillion lines of translation (daunting, I couldnt find tool)
2. add 32 seconds of nothing or whatever to the beginning of a video file
No2 may be quicker, but I do not know how.. I am not good with ffmpeg... also, if I want to join some 32 seconds, lets say of my XVid recording, I need to prepare it to be the same as film, so it is also complicated. how to add 32 sec? I tried openShot (couldnt find option). Cinellera is giving me strange errors, about audio codec and something I dont understand... I am confused in using both tools
While playing videos on Linux (both Mint and Fedora) I noticed that the video will often pause for about 10 seconds or so while the audio keeps playing. After the 10 second freeze the video resumes where it should be. I've had this problem both on Mint 9 and Fedora 13 and 14.

I have an Acer Aspire One Netbook, and I have the Ubuntu 9.10 Netbook Remix installed. I have tried using Cheese to capture video and it captures maybe 2 seconds of movement, then goes black and/or the image freezes. I can take photos just fine, but video capture seems to be impossible. Any help?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've got a problem with my VLC MediaPlayer (v1.0.3-GoldenEye). During video-playback, my screenbrightness is turned to zero after approx- 30 seconds of playback. After turning the screen brightness to high again, the same thing starts over again. By now, I encountered that changing screen resolutions (e.g. after closing a fullscreen application with a different resolution) also turns my brightness to 0.

(noob)I am running ubuntu 11.04 on my ASUS k60IJ, the sound plays out of both my earbuds and the internal speakers of the laptop.
View 6 Replies View RelatedIt was so close to a perfect install. The only thing really missing is this issue with the sound. I've searched all over the forums and i found one thing where you get the model and codecs and write them to a file, however, I can't seem to find what my "model" is because none of the postings have anything about Lenovo laptops. Here is the command they all asked for:
Code:
cat /proc/asound/card0/codec#* | grep Codec
Codec: Realtek ALC269
Codec: Intel G45 DEVIBX
With that info, how do I get the model and how do I get my speakers to stop playing when headphones are plugged in. Also, I don't have any software installed like pulse audio either, so it's not that.
I really like the two programs Tuxguitar, and Rhythmbox. Tux guitar is a tablature editor, and Rhythmbox is an audio management program/audio player.
Sometimes, when reading tabs, I need to find out if something just isn't right, so I check by playing that part in Rhythmbox to see if the tab is correct. I used to be able to do this a few months ago. Then I upgraded to 11.04, and there were lots of changes with packages and stuff.
To be more specific, Whenever Tuxguitar is running, I'll try to play something in Rhythmbox, and the there will be no audio, and the "time progressed through the track" doesn't change.
How to make it so that Rhythmbox and Tuxguitar can play at the same time.
Also, I remember that in the "Tools>Settings>Sound" options, I was using a "Realtime Sequencer" at a port which had "Gervill" in it. I don't have those options available for some reason, and I have no idea how to get it back.
i'm trying to play an .avi video and it won't play. when i double click it to launch with movie player, the player comes up and then disappears and that's it. i tried other players including vlc and they do the same thing so i'm thinking it has something to do with my OS. what can i do to fix that?
View 4 Replies View RelatedOver the past week or two I've been noticing that I've been having more and more problems with playing streaming videos. I haven't been able to find anything consistent about when the videos don't play correctly. Theres been videos where I've just had to wait a day or two to see even though I know from other people that theyre working. Sometimes I get nothing, sometimes its just sound and sometimes its just video. It doesn't seem to depend on the websites either, earlier today I was able to get one video on a webpage to play correctly but the other one on that page would only give me sound for a couple of seconds and then stop like it was buffering even though the status bar showed it had loaded the entire video. I don't think its just a firefox problem either because I was having the same problems at the same websites running opera as well.
