1. Can I download/use 'Spotify' on Ubuntu as i had an account on my old XP PC? If so how.
2. Some songs that I was able to play on XP don't seem to work on Ubutnu. My downloaded songs do work, however, songs that were burnt via Windows Media player from CD don't. The error message is "The stream is encrypted and decryption is not supported".
3. I have all my songs on an external hard drive connected to my Ubuntu PC. I've heard about Ubuntu one. Does this mean I could move all my songs onto this Ubuntu one account and then be able to access/play these songs from a XP PC upstairs?
I have been recording some demos from games like Quake 3, 4, and Doom 3. Now, I've been able to use Quake Video Maker in the past to take the Targa frames that the games export, and then combine those into a movie. However, it seems this time that QVM is spitting out some bad files. I try to watch the AVI file, but I just get this error message:
** Message: Error: Could not demultiplex stream. gstavidemux.c(3526): gst_avi_demux_stream_header_pull (): /GstPlayBin2lay/GstURIDecodeBin:uridecodebin0/GstDecodeBin2:decodebin20/GstAviDemux:avidemux0: pull_range flow reading header: unexpected
I figured that if I import it into Kino, then I should be able to edit just fine. Except, when I import it into Kino, the video just hangs on the first frame for the first half, and then plays the whole video at double the speed. Is there a better package that will take a lot of image files and export them into a movie file? Preferably one where I don't have to add each frame manually, as the demo I'm working with now has 5000+ frames.
We are able to stream the video fine from while the flv file is located in the /var/videos/flv folder. We have a second volume that we formatted and mounted as /media/data/videos/flv. We have changed the path in the lighttpd config file to match this. When we play the video we are receiving:200, Stream not found, NetStream.Play.StreamNotFound, clip" "[Clip]"/media/data/videos/flv/test.flv".
I was trying to convert a flac audio to mp3 using soundconverter & its failing with the error:
Quote:
GStreamer error: Gstreamer encountered a general stream error.
I should note that the flac is a rip of an actual Mono Vinyl disc. Am not exactly sure how that was done but I was interested in converting some those files to ogg & mp3. OGG conversion doesn't give any error.
Below is the result when launching soundconverter from the terminal & trying to convert the flac file(s) to mp3 (i just tried ogg to mp3 & the same error occurs):
Code: $ soundconverter SoundConverter 1.4.4 using Gstreamer version: 0.10.28, Python binding version: 0.10.18 using gio
This was my problem for installing: [URL]. Now I downloaded ubuntu server edition, and typed sudo apt-get install kubuntu-desktop, so it did. Now I am starting my PC up, and I can't get past "waiting mouse" image and the background of the splash screen. I am on this error for a week or so already!
I have made numerous audio CD's with Brasero, but recently I had to make one and mid way through the burning process I am given this error: Could not decode stream. Or some variation like that. It ruins the cd and after I get the error I can not eject the disc.
I've been trying to get soundconverter to work on ubuntu 10.10, I've checked I've got all the restricted packages installed, gone into synaptic and installed a bunch of gstreamer stuff, downloaded and compiled the latest version of soundconverter but whatever I do, the following happens:
1. open soundconverter
2. open file (wav)
3. set to convert to mp3 (default)
4. Click convert and instantly get the ever so helpful "general stream error" message!
I'm having a problem accessing a network share in windows 7 from Ubuntu 9.10. I can access this share from a Vista computer on the network, but not from Ubuntu. Windows 7 can also connect fine to my Ubuntu Samba shares. I get the following error when trying to connect with SMBclient.
I have a problem with acl's in Ubuntu Server 10.04. When i write in a terminal the command setfacl, the machine returns error: setfactl /home/xxxx: operation not supported.
I recently tried to upgrade from Ubuntu 10.10 to 11.04. At first, the installation seemed to go smoothly, but when I tried to boot up, my screen displayed the following error message:
Input Not Supported
I am unsure how this is happening, since I was able to install 10.10 successfully. To better assist, I am attaching detailed information about my computer system.
I have my home partition encrypted and would like to take the decryption out of the system. Such as when booting the PC it would say it can't find the keys so stop and wait for me to put my usb drive in to continue (reboot and try again). Is there some way to get something like this set up?
i'm having issues with my code (i'm kinda new to java).I'm trying to convert a c++ code snippet to java in order to use it in my application. Here's the C++ code
After coming home one evening I found my server was turned off. My suspicions lead me to believe we had a storm and the power went off, then the UPS went off and finally at that point the server went off too. I think my server was set to allow security updates. After it turned of and restarted it seems it made a change to Grub and upgraded it to Grub2. In doing so I now get the following message:
Error 13: Invalid or un supported executable format
I have tried to do the following:

This solved the problem for me, from > url

I am receiving the following error when trying to enable Compositing in Desktop Settings for KDE4 in openSuse 11.3-Xen
Code: Error: Compositing is not supported on your system. Required X extensions (XComposite and XDamage) are not available. I want to have desktop effects enabled but can't seem to figure out how to get this done. "Advanced" Tab is greyed out. "Enable desktop effects" is greyed out.

This worked to get X up and running in the Xen kernel. However, I'm pulling what hair I have left trying to figure out how to enable compositing in Xen. The entire motivation for my upgrade was this one feature (amongst some other things).
Please show me where I'm going wrong. I hope this is not a "live with it" type of scenario due to my using Xen.
I think this might go for gaming, but maybe a general graphics problem could be taken into consideration for anything else that might display this error:
Code: fixme:d3d:state_wrap (WINED3DRS_WRAP0) Texture wrapping not yet supported. That was spammed in my terminal after I logged into my character. This was spamming itself before logging into my character: Code: err:d3d_surface:surface_allocate_surface >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> GL_INVALID_VALUE (0x501) from glTexImage2D @ surface.c / 862 err:d3d_surface:surface_allocate_surface >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> GL_INVALID_VALUE (0x501) from glTexImage2D @ surface.c / 862

Just to let you all know, I'm not all that advanced in Ubuntu or Linux knowledge, this game is just the only thing keeping me from going completely Ubuntu. I only have Windows installed to play this game, and I've gotten as far as to get this game playing this far,
I will try to keep this straight-forward. Yesterday I was able to access an ubuntu 10.10 (edubuntu) desktop using the tightVNC viewer that I installed on my Vista laptop. I never set anything up on the desktop it just worked and I didn't question it.
Today I get the following error on the viewer software: "Server did not offer supported security type" The only thing that has changed was that I installed a bunch of updates yesterday afternoon, but I am not sure what changed.
Error 18 - Selected cylinder exceeds maximum supported by BIOS
I am running Jaunty Jackalope on a new machine and after a recent update I got the following message when trying to reboot:
Error 18 - Selected cylinder exceeds maximum supported by BIOS
After reading some of the info on Grub error 18 I decided to create a separate boot partition, as suggested. However, when trying to use Gparted from the live CD to create some space ahead of /sda1, Gparted would run for a while and then crash. The crash message says:
"e2fsck crashed with SIGSEGV in qsort" So now I am stuck, unable to boot from HDD and unable to create new partitions (the other partitions on the disk work fine with Gparted). Could all of this be due to corrupt /sda1 partition?
akonadi shows errors (self test) on every startup (on different setups and with different errors) that's very annoying, everything seems to work though, so i just want to get rid of that stupid message (why should an average user of kontact solve mysql problems?). decryption of mails is not working, because of a "wrong passphrase" (says so in the mail body). I was never prompted for a passphrase and kgpg decrypts the msg.asc fine, so its a kmail problem!? the spam / ham buttons are invisible. i added them to the toolbar with no effect (meaning, they are still invisible). Removing of other buttons works.
I had setup an encrypted home directory on my computer, following all the instructions. However, after one reboot, ecryptfs told me "ERROR: Encrypted directory not setup properly." So I rebooted into an Ubuntu Live CD and ran ecryptfs-recover-private. It found my encrypted dir and asked for my login passphrase. I entered it and it told me, "ERROR: The key required to access this private data is not available." Is there any brute force way to recover the key?
I have downloaded Fedora 11 x64, and I went to the adobe website and downloaded the tar.gz file for flash player. I went into the terminal to untar the file and after I did that I tried to install it and got this error :
ERROR: Your architecture, 'x86_64', is not supported by the Adobe Flash Player installer. What does this mean? My dad could get his to install but his is 32 bit.Do I have to wait until the full version is out?
I have a very strange problem in a C++ RHEL4 app. Here is the code: socket(PF_INET, SOCK_STREAM, 0) returns errno 97 socket(PF_INET, SOCK_DGRAM, 0) returns successow that is strange or what?additional info:1. Extracting the above code into a test program, both return success.2. Placing the above code into the 1st line of my app, error as above.3. I ran app and test program in the same terminal window.4. My app links in many static libraries 5. My app runs fine when compiled and linked on RHEL56. My APP is a ss7 endpoint (SIP <==> SS7 message flow)7. I verified PF_INET, SOCK_STREAM, SOCK_SGRAM values are correct.
