I am currently running gnome-panel inside of lxde (SOOOOO much faster than gnome), but I am receiving the following errors:

I installed LXDE and want to choose each boot whether to run Gnome or LXDE. However Gnome gets started automatically without me being able to choose. Are there any config files I have to edit?

If I:
1. Add drawer(s) on the gnome panel
2. add items to one or more of those drawers
3. reboot then:
1. all empty drawers can operate normally
2. drawers that have stuff in it cannot be opened.
New install, rebooted to find out that the panel bar on the bottom went missing.Even though i can install a new bar, is there a way to bring the original bar back?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm using LXDE and everything has been fine up until yesterday something strange happened. My panel no longer stays on top of everything. Whatever window I have open when dragged will be over it. I want the panel to go back to how it was but none of the settings seem to fix the problem. I went into the panel settings and I tried reserve space and the dock panel option but to no avail. how to restore it to being on top of everything?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI haven't got Lubuntu as such, I've installed LXDE to try it out with Ubuntu 11.04 sometimes. For it to be practical for me I need the battery icon and Network Manager on the panel. I'm assuming this can be done easily enough as Linux Mint LXDE has got it, or Network Manager at least. i need NM to easily start my Mobile Broadband dongle's connection.Also, can touchpad tapping be turned off in LXDE, and how? I have it set up to have no tapping in regular Ubuntu but this is undone when I boot LXDE.

Bizarrest thing after swapping in my HDD from an old laptop into a new one. My LXDE panel temperature display is showing "-273," AKA absolute zero in celcius. I've done a bit of googling for lxde temp sensor, and most of the discussions I saw referred to installing lm-sensors, which apparently I did not yet have, although on my old laptop the temperature was shown correctly. I believe the automatic sensor location is off and I need to give it the correct location manually. I am unsure of how to do that, and it makes sense that it's hardware specific. After installing lm-sensors, I saw that sensors-detect provides me with a list of the correct temp sensors in my computer, but I'm unsure how to save those results so the computer can use them.

Switched off my system after using it for close to 3 hours. Today I booted my system and I could not see any GUI in action except mouse pointer. What I can only see is clicked on my camera and posted below for your review.When I get the login screen, I can choose different DE (fluxbox) and I was able to login and do some action. I don't know the reason for this sudden disappearance of desktop.
Regarding the gnome-panel in Ubuntu (64 bit).... I discovered some time ago that I wasn't the only one who routinely (every login) had their gnome-panel appear butchered, for which Alt-F2 then 'killall gnome-panel' would easily fix.
Having become impatient with this over the past 8 months, I decided I would automate the process and so cofiguring the startup applications seemed like a perfectly logical choice to me. Turns out I was wrong. After adding 'killall gnome-panel' to the startup applications not only does the panel fail to load altogether now, but Alt-F2 doesn't even work.
I tried Ctl-Alt-F1 and working with the graphics-free mode thinking I could somehow navigate to the startup apps config file and edit it, but I don't know where it is or how to edit it without logging in as root and I certainly don't know of any 'root password'.
How I can set that my left panel fit the top edge of the screen (instead of top panel)?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am using 9.10 Ubuntu with the Compiz window manager. I am interested in changing the behavior of the panel (top and bottom) autohide operation. I have been in the CompizConfig Settings Manager / General Options and changed the Edge Trigger delay but that does not seem to impact how fast the panels unhide when I am at the edges. I would like to delay the response time before unhide occurs. Also, I would like to narrow the trigger region so that I have to be closer to the edge to trigger it. Does anyone know how to control these things? Can you direct me to any documentation? I am comfortable working underground (command line, editing, programming) but I often find myself stepping into an ocean when I try to solve simple problems,
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I just updated my IdeaPad to Natty and played around with Unity. The performane was absolutely unbearable so I installed Unity2D from the software center. Now when I start the session everything seems to be fine at first. Whenever I move the mouse over the panel though it seems to switch to my old gnome-panel from the "Classic" session (with some missing icons). When I move the mouse over that panel again it switches back to the Unity panel style. What is going on? Can I fix this somehow? I will have to use the classic session until I get a working consistent behavior

What is difference between fedora 15 GNOME and fedora 15 LXDE except their interface.(I think their is no difference except their interface). View 2 Replies View RelatedI've installed Ubuntu 10.4 and the gnome-panel appears half, as you can see in the attached picture, if I try resolutions over 1024x768.If I kill the gnome-panel and it restarts, or if I change its properties, it became OK, but in startup it appears like the image.I've tried other Gnome 2.3 based distributions and occurs the same issue. With Gnome 2.28 it doesn't occurs. Then ii seems a gnome 2.3 problem.

I have installed a LXDE F14 spin into my laptop cause I its older, the thing is that I would like to use Gnome login screen, like where you choose your desktop management and insert your password. I have gnome installed as well..

There are about 60 users so far.On my server, LXDE is default for everyone.But on the clients, each user has to change to LXDE individually. version: gnome-applets-2.32.0-1.fc14.x86_64
symptom: via right click on a gnome panel, perform "add to panel" and choose Dwell Click.
Gnome panel bites the dust with SIGSEGV at this point, restarts, and then you've got dwell click on the panel.
Anyone else seeing this, and better yet, have a solution?
I have got Ubuntu with Xfce installed, and I would like to change default session to Gnome, or LXDE (depending on if my computer would run it properly). Looks like there is no options button while logging in, or anything similar.
