i've got an HP printer, a new one, and it's got an error code jamming it up. I tried to play musical printers between a windows 7 computer and my own ubuntu computer. this apparently generated the error, and now the printer is no longer working. anyone got a hack or program that can scrub the memory of an hp disk-jet F2480? or should i just throw the thing away and buy a new one?
I have problem with my printer HP Deskjet D1460. My printer is configured and works. When I send a file on the print, the printer clings a sheet of paper and starts to print, but a paper as was clean so clean and remains, after printing.
I have a Brother MFC-665CW printer and finally got it connected via wireless. I always unplug my printer when I am not using it. But every time I plug it back in and print something, it always do a cleaning of the printer heads before printing. System stats: Running: Ubuntu 10.04 32 bit What else should I add to the system stats?
If I have a hard-disk with Ubuntu fully installed on it and I want to - all of a sudden - use Windows XP, is it mandatory that I firstly format the hard-disk first? So far, I have used two versions of Windows XP; one of them is from a few years before the other. Both copies of Windows XP when in start-up from booting from CD are causing errors. One of them is a BSOD error (0x0000007B) and the next Windows CD is stopping and giving me an error with setupdd.sys (error code 4). Is it required that the hard-disk is formatted before you even put a Windows boot CD in?
I went away for a few days but left my computer on to seed torrents. I come back today to find that my flatmate decided to have a tidy up, unplugging my computer and external HDD in the process...I set my computer back up but now my external drive is refusing to mount. This drive has EVERYTHING on it - about 5 years worth of music & video d/ls plus a lot of important documents so I'm praying that it isn't wrecked. That I know of, the drive was mounted but not in use when the power was pulled. The disk utility recognises its there and SMART-healthy, but claims "Filesystem is NOT clean" and won't mount it.
simple scan error as follows: Failed to save file ImageMagick returned error code 11 Command line: convert -adjoin /tmp/simple-scan-DA9MBV.jpg /tmp/simple-scan-XCK4BV.jpg /tmp/simple-scan-NZVYBV.pdf Stdout: Stderr: using karmic note: I have apparmor extra profiles installed but didn't notice one that related to simple scan or imagemagick. Red herring or not?
I have Ubuntu version 10.10 and I'm trying to install the HP DeskJet 1000 J110a printer. I have HPLIP version 3.11 (the latest version I believe). The printer shows up but when I try to print the error message reads: Printer requires the 'foomatic-rip-hplip' program but is not currently installed.
I am unable to connect to my printer wirelessly. I get this: Idle - "Connecting to printer..." The computer never connects. I can print a configuration report and get the ip address. If I type that in a webrowser, I get an error: unable to connect. Even if I plug the printer into the computer by a usb, I am unable to access the printer's ip address in the webrowser. I'm not sure how to proceed on getting the printer working wirelessly. It is a hp 6940 I use the HP Deskjet 6940 Series hpijs, 3.10.2rc1.9 driver. I have only recently been having printer problems. The printer has been hooked up on the same network for years. It still prints via usb.
I'm trying to sync a folder between my Windows install and my PCLinux install. Same machine, Windows 7 on the C drive and Linux on an external USB hard drive.
Using the Grsync GUI, I searched for the source and destination folders, and then executed the command. Here is the output:
I reformatted my root partition and boot partitions and installed ,averick but zhen I boot I get a grub 15 error. I might have made a mistake on the partitioning screen zhen I selected /dev/dsa6 for the GRUB bootloader - this is my dedicated /boot partition - and don't know how to fix it now
my current fstab is code...
By mounting all partitions one by one I can see now that everything has moved around so that
sda is the bigbastard drive - 500GB - that was sdb previously sdb is supersize/basckup and was sdc before the paritions on sda have moved to sdc

Made a mistake while installing btusp for macbook. I know now that I shouldn't have deleted the installed files, I should have run "apt-get remove", but it's too late. Now whenever I install software or updates I get an annoying message about the btusb packages:Error! Cannot locate /usr/src/btusb-0.0.1.dkms.tar.gz. File does not exist.

I'd like to clean up apt/dpkg so that it doesn't think the package whose files I've deleted is still installed. when I run

Is there any difference between apt-get clean and aptitude clean? Do they both remove the same caches? Should I know any other commands for cleaning up wasted space on my ubuntu laptop?
I'm trying to update Ubuntu 10.04 after a clean installation, it downloaded 245 files, and there is an error in the indexes of the 2 last packages:Failed to fetch [URL] difiere (bad size) Failed to fetch [URL] difiere (bad size) This happens even changing the repository to main server or another through "Software origins".Update-manager doesn't conclude the update because it can't download all the packages.
Ok so I just installed Ubuntu 10.10 Server Edition. On the very first boot, everything seems to run perfectly. I can SSH into it from any remote computer with no problems. However, the installation of certain things calls for a system reboot, which 2 days ago never would have been a problem. But now for some reason, the SSH server only wants to work on the very first boot of a clean install. After I reboot it, I get the ssh: connect to host 192.168.0.180 port 22: No route to host error. The absurd part is sshd is running! I've even tried restarting sshd, restarting the server, and using both 64 and 32 bit installs. The only way I can get anything to connect to it is by using ssh localhost. It won't even let me connect using the IP on the local machine!
I was running CentOs 5.3 and did a "yum upgrade" and got the following problem: Transaction Check Error: file /usr/share/man/man1/xdelta.1.gz from install of xdelta-1.1.4-1.el5.rf.x86_64 conflicts with file from package xdelta-1.1.3-20.i386
[code]....
It seems that somehow multiple entries were made for the xdelta package - how do I clean this up?
I've bought a HP Photosmart printer, HP Photosmart wireless e-All-in-One printer - B110a and i've got a problem installing it properly. I'm using Debian 6.0 Squeeze. When i connect the printer, Debian doesn't recognize my printer as the Photosmart B109 printer for unknown reason. When i go to the site of HP and search for a driver, it directs me to this site:I've downloaded that latest hplip file as a .run file and installed it. My printer is recognized proparly, but when i try to print a colored image, it comes out black/white. Something is not crrect. Does anyone recognize this problem with this type HP printer?
I installed Code:Blocks (8.02 from ubuntu software center) and try to run sample program (at first I tried some program related to OpenCV and configure the project for it).
The Build went OK but I cant Run the program. So I tried the simplest progrma of hello World and still I get the same error even on a clean new project.
The Error: "error while loading shared libraries: cv.so can not open shared object file : No such file or directory"
Im experiencing issues updating. here is the error update is giving me:Reading database....60%dpkg: unrecoverable fatal error, aborting:files list file for package 'liborbit2' is missing final newlineE: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (2)A package failed to install. Trying to recoverNothing happens at this point.
I think that my computer crashed one time, while I was in middle of installing some new software, and it seems like it have made "dpkg" confused with itself - it thinks, that I still need to install "Wine", but it is allready installed, so everything is allright. But everytime, when I am upgrading or installing any kind of software, it give me this error (just an error, everything still works and installs fine):
I'm tried to install bandwidthd on Ubuntu 9.10 and keep getting the following error.I have been looking around for a while and have been unsuccessful in finding a answer.
HTML Code: $sudo apt-get install bandwidthd Reading package lists... Done
using 'ntfs-config' to make ntfs partitions mount on bootup so that I can access my data partition from Ubuntu. The first time I installed ntfs-config it would not run. I uninstalled and reinstalled it and then it ran, but it didn't seem to be responding very well. I attempted to tick the partition I wanted and set it to be writeable. After I closed the app ALL my ntfs partitions were mounted, even the windows and system reserved partitions, and when I attempted to unmount them I got the following error:
Unable to unmount Data Error unmounting: unmount exited with exit code 1: helper failed with unmount /dev/mapper/isw_dfjjdefcdi_RAID5p4 is not mounted (according to mtab)
I tried rebooting. I tried uninstalling ntfs-config, then reinstalling it (now it wont run again). So I'm at a loss as to what to do. I simply want my data partition mounted on boot up and writable, not the others.
My SSL is not working, I get the error I just moved my site off GoDaddy, and on to my own server. I now get this error message. "SSL received a record that exceeded the maximum permissible length. (Error code: ssl_error_rx_record_too_long)"
I'm not sure what that means, or how to fix it. I used these same Security Certificates om my other server, and they worked just fine.
Thought I could just place a hard drive with a preloaded Ubuntu install from another machine (a loaner machine) into this one; change a few drivers and be on my way. Too many errors to count. ALSA; Jack; LiveTex all cratered and I'm tired of fighting this. I've spent more than two days trying to get stuff working and if there's anything I've learned from years of experience there's a time to cut bait and run.
A clean install on the actual hardware I'm using has to be better than the hodge podge I have now. What I would like from the community is recommendations for what to do AFTER the install.
1) where can I find the most up-to-date comprehensive and exhaustive list of repositories for the Synaptic Package Manager?
2) I like to do sound and video processing. I would like to have the program applications Qsynth, Virtual Midi Keyboard, Muse Score, Csound, GNU Denemo, and many others that either fail to start or produce no sound to work. What, besides the programs need to be loaded in order to make these work?
3) A helpful list of recommendations on what to install along with order preference. In other words 'this needs to be done before this...' on a new Ubuntu install.
In case anyone's interested: Here's a small list of some of the errors I currently have. AlsaModularSynth - Could not open file.Qsynth1 - Failed to create the audio driver (jack) / Jack server not running.
Errors were encountered while processing:
texlive-latex-base-doc E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)
Qtractor - The audio/MIDI engine could not be started. Make sure the JACK audio server (jackd) and/or the ALSA Sequencer kernel module (snd-seq-midi) are up and running and then restart the session.
apt-get install alsa-utils - Errors were encountered while processing: texlive-latex-base-doc E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)
Jack configuration files not found; the list is endless. Plus many errors trying to get texlive to work.
