When I click on the action button included in the bottom panel, I expect to open a windows asking me if I want to shut down, restart, or log off. But unfortunately, when I click on it, I am not offered any option and I get immediately logged off. I removed the button from the panel and installed it again, but it still dysfunctions.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am running the NBR using the Gnome interface, instead of the default netbook interface, but the problem happens even if I switch back to the default.Whenever I click on the MINIMIZE to desktop [v] button, the program abends (i.e. it disapppears, is NOT visible mimimized to the desktop, nor shows in the task bar or lower panel. The default buttons are in order of placement are:x [close], v (downward pointing arrowhead)[minimize to desktop] and [^ / ] (upward pointing arrowhead / square) [minimize /maximize]. I realise that on a small netbook screen such as my Asus EEE 1000 PC one might easily click on the "close" (x) button my mistake.
However, I UORPOSELY click on the down arrow button, and the current program / window disappears completely. As per my description above, I cannot find the application, so I have to relaunch it from the program menu. If it had been minimized, the system would inform me that the program was already running. Since it does not, it is a safe assumption and statement to say that the application / window / program has abendedMy only workaround is to adjust the maximixe size of the window using the rightmost button (downward arrow head = smaller window, square = fully maximized).
i have upgrade 11.04 it not showing the close, minimize, maximize buttons in any windowshow to fix this.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have just recently installed Ubuntu 10.04 on a desktop machine (Dell Dimension 4600) and am in the process of becoming familiar with it. So far, I like it. Especially the boot-up speed. I like the users manual also. I notice one thing, though, that doesn't seem to be working right the three buttons on the right side of the titlebar that close, minimize and maximize the window. The minimize button is supposed to remove the window from the desktop and indicate the minimized window on the bottom panel so that you can click it and restore it. It doesn't work that way in my install. In fact, I cannot minimize and restore the window at all. The three buttons, from left to right, close, reduce/enlarge, and close. I don't think that is normal, is it? And how can I get it to work correctly?
View 8 Replies View RelatedWhenever I click minimize in rhythm box, it just goes to its own box in the bottom bar like most programs. But when i click the X while music is playing, it keeps playing, but it just disappears. The sound button has no options other than volume, and the only way to bring rhythmbox back up is starting it back up. Why doesn't it minimize to the sound button like its supposed to?

Is there any way to change the Yes/No buttons order on the sistem windows (warning, question etc)? Like, is it possible that the "Yes" button appears in the left and the "No" button appears in the right?
don't get impressed with a vanilla kernel 2.6.37 if the "yes" button isn't in the "right place".
I have wireless USB headset with four buttons. Two for volume control (They work).
I'd like to use the other buttons too. One gives 'Alt-C' as input. The doesn't give visible any input. I tried to get the input with Wireshark but it could only capture 16 packages when plugging in the headset.
So my question is: How can I get the input for the second Button?
and how can I change the Input of the first button (Alt-C) to e.g. xf86audiomute?
I use Jolicloud/Ubuntu with Gnome. I noticed the "Save Screenshot" program launches when hitting "PrintScreen". There is just one problem, I am currently waiting for an old Mac keyboard (and Mighty Mouse) to arrive from eBay. The Mac keyboard DOES NOT have a PrintScr button, is there any way I can use one of the dead key's (eg: F13 etc.) and assign that to the program, or can I use one of the button's on the side of the Mighty Mouse (I would prefer that)

View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen using the above image viewer, it would be easier for me to be able to close the viewer/image while displaying an image in fullscreen mode, by clicking on the middle mouse button, rather than right clicking and choosing "Exit full screen", then clicking on the cross in the corner of the window. This is similar to how Firefox can close tabs by middle-clicking with the mouse wheel.
Mouse function editing in GQview seems limited to controlling whether the scroll wheel pans up and down the picture, or moves to the next/previous picture. Any way I can edit the preferences file for GQview at .gqview/gqviewrc in order to achieve the above shortcut facility on my mousewheel, for this application? Or is anyone familiar with another Linux image viewer that does allow the mouse to be programmed in this way?
In testing that all my bits of hardware work I have come to my 3Dconnexion SpaceNavigator. The hardware is virtually new and works absolutely fine in XP (that is what I am trying to escape from).
When the spacenavigator is plugged in it works absolutely fine so long as I move the thing with a soft feather. It is so sensitive that it is un-useable.My problem is that although the system has recognised it and has it in the hardware scan in YaST but nowhere can I find any way to change the sensitivity settings and button functions.

I think a recent update has broken 2 of the 3 systems that I've been putting together. To test out the theory I want to roll libpam-modules back to version 1.1.1-2ubuntu2 from 1.1.1-2ubuntu5 that was recently released on 1 of the 2 that got updated and see if it resolves the issue that I'm seeing with not being able to log into the OMSA webserver. How do I go about reverting to the earlier version?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI updated this afternoon and once my updates were done i went to connect a usb to my vmware xp box. I got a usb error that windows could not use the usb. So i rebooted vmware and got the same thing... I then shut down vmware and rebooted my machine.. once i logged into the machine and launched vmware i no longer can see any of my usb devices.
I would like to just rollback the updates so that i can use my vmware again.. as i must transfer cad files to the pc with usb. Autodesk only works in windows so vmware has been a blessing as i dont have to reboot every time i need to work on drawings!

After the syslog facility rolls logs weekly, the Postfix cannot seem to write properly to the mail.log file. What I don't quite understand is that Postfix is still able to write the following error to the log file: ..."status=deferred (temporary failure. Command output: Can't open log file /var/log/mail.log: Permission denied )"It is my understanding that Postfix uses several different processes to write to log files, but I'm confused as to why it is able to write errors to the log but not able to write when sending/receiving mail. After I chmod 777 the mail.log file, Postfix slowly clears the queue and the mails are then received. Everything functions fine for another week, until the logs roll again.
