how can I change the language of the action labels shown in the Keyboard Shortcuts window? System language is set to English (United States), but the mentioned descriptions are displayed in Italian language.

1. I open an application e.g. terminal

Keyboard shortcuts do not work at all and if I want them back working, I have to click on the desktop's background I bet it has something to do with focus or compiz settings, because I've already had some problems with those in Unity. Now I'm on the "classic" ubuntu desktop. It didn't happen before upgrade..
I accidently set the Undo shortcut in Evolution to the 'X' key. I don't know how, but I can't figure out how to reset it to be Ctrl+Z?
View 1 Replies View RelatedKarmic there was a tab inside "System->Preferences->Appearance" called "Interface" which allowed me to modify the keyboard shortcuts. I had <Backspace> to move backwards in Nautilis and <Shift><Backspace> to move forward.
Without this tab can anyone tell me how I can modify the shortcuts to do this? I have spent some time looking at gconf-editor but nothing is jumping out at me, particularly with regards to the back and forward browsing.
I'm running Ubuntu 10.04.2 LTS, but wanted to use Banshee instead of Rhythmbox. After running Code: sudo aptitude install banshee I wanted to bind my "Media" button on my keyboard to run banshee; unfortunately, it still wants to run rhythmbox. Where can I change the default command executed by these keyboard shortcuts? I can't seem to find them in gconf-editor under apps/metacity/* and googling has proved fruitless in finding where this configuration file is located.

Currently I am on a Brazilian abnt keyboard and an English system (which is what I want), but I am unable to output accented characters - which I sometimes want, when I am not programming. I need something to switch around, but cannot find where to configure additional languages (not keyboards) neither where to switch.
I am on 10.04 with a gnome desktop.
I'm doing thesis about Open source CMS -programs and I'm using Ubuntu server 10.04.1 for that.
I have used same server edition at school but I have now big problem with changing the keyboard language. Because VMware used the easy install I couldn't change the language during the installation. I have used command sudo dpkg-reconfigure console-setup, but I can't select the right language there.
So is there any other way to change the keyboard language to Finnish?
ive used ubuntu and fedora before, but i asked around for the "best" linux distro and they told me slackware or archlinux so i desided to pick slackware ive installed it and when im in the console mode its the swedish keyboard settings, that i choose in the install but when i go into visual mode startx i dont have the swedish keyboard so i was wondering if eny of you know how to change it

The correct one I need is USA (and don't know exactly the difference between USA and USA alternative international). But every time I boot my laptop I get the old language back (Dutch) while USA is above the others in my preferences.

I have a Acer keyboard (manufacter Lite-On) and seems like I can't get the keyboard shortcuts to work. The shortcuts that DO work are search, CD play/pause/tracks, and Volume.but.. shortcuts for Web browser, email and mute vol don't work. View 2 Replies View RelatedI just installed F11 on my new laptop (Acer Timeline 3810T) and I have the following issue when adjusting volume. The keyboard shortcuts work, but they don't raise/lower the volume smoothly, instead they do it in 4 or 5 increments total. What's weird is that the notification that appears in the screen when I adjust the volume (the whitish square with a picture of a speaker, I think it's part of Compiz) shows the the volume changing in small increments, but when I get to the 3rd or 4th little increment from the right the volume is already muted. If I look at the alsa volume controls at the same time, I see it changing by the 4 or 5 big increments.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI've been having a few problems with OpenOffice.Org and the language settings.
I'm using the latest Fedora 11 and OpenOffice.Org 3.1.
When trying to change the interface language from en-us to en-gb there isn't an option for en-gb at all in the drop-down, despite me reading that other people have been able to switch the interface to en-gb. This doesn't matter that much, since it's only a few words but I think it might be affecting another issue of mine.
Despite having en-gb set for my dictionary settings, I still get the Americanised words. Stuff like: internationalised vs. internationalized, colour vs. color. I've even installed the Oxford English Dictionary extension but that doesn't show up in the dictionaries.
Edit: I've tried searching the repos. for en-gb langpacks but I can only see the general 'en' English one. Yet I can see there's an en-gb lang pack on the OpenOffice.Org website [URL] but I thought you're meant to use the repos. where possible.
Edit 2: I feel a bit stupid now, it's under uk not en-gb. 'openoffice.org-langpack-uk'. Still doesn't solve my dictionary issue Americanised spellings should come up as red underlined.
