Ubuntu :: Change Driectory In The The Terminal Back To Default?

Aug 29, 2010

I was trying to install google earth. This is what I did:1. Open a terminal and change to the directory where the installer downloaded to. (on desktop) :cd ~/Desktop2. Change the permissions on the installer so you can run it:chmod +x GoogleEarthLinux.bin3. Run the installer as the root user:sudo ./GoogleEarthLinux.bin4. The installer dialog will open. The default install paths work fine. Click Begin Install.Once the installation is finished you can click Start to launch Google Earth.HOW DO I CHANGE BACK TO THE CORRECT DIRECTORY IN THE TERMINAL

OpenSUSE :: Change Ghome Terminal Default Size And Position?

Mar 1, 2010

I'd like to make Gnome Terminal always start using this command line: gnome-terminal --geometry=92x49+0+0 However, when I right-click the icon either in Start Menu Favorites or in Application Browser, there is no 'Properties' option where I can configure this. Nor does there appear to be any option in Gnome Terminal Profile Preferences (other than to run something other than the shell when starting Terminal). Anyone know how make this modification so Gnome Terminal will always start in the same size and position?

Ubuntu :: How To Change Terminal App For Nautilus-open-terminal

Dec 1, 2010

I've fallen in love with Terminator as a replacement for the standard gnome-terminal app.

However, I'm also very much in the habit of using the nautilus-open-terminal extension for launching new terminal sessions.

I'd like nautilus-open-terminal to launch Terminator rather than gnome-terminal.

A quick search of my system and the web didn't reveal anything. i didn't find a gconf setting to control this. A quick look at the source code didn't help much either.

Ubuntu :: Put An Environment Variable Back To Its Default?

Mar 2, 2010

I am happy to say that after almost a week of wandering around the INTERNET and posting desperate questions to our Ubuntu forums on how to set paths etc., I have finally begun to understand just how environment variables and path setting works. I must say, it wasn't all reading this or that, but rather making changes to my paths that helped me to understand. Anyway, if anyone who does not understand environment variables is reading this, then I recommend reading this

HTML Code:
http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/essential/environment/paths.html
and this
HTML Code:
http://www.belugalake.com/java/pathsetting.html

OK- I have 1 last question for my fellow linux users. Lets say I opened up $HOME /.profile and did some editing, and later decided to undo all of my changes but I forgot exactly what changes I made so now I want to set the default in there. How would I accomplish this? How do I set the defaults for any ~/.bashrc or ~/.cshrc type of files that I change.

Ubuntu :: Changing Default Desktop Back To Gnome?

Jun 7, 2011

Today I installed Xubuntu desktop on my normal Ubuntu, to see what it's like, and to have the option to run a more minimal desktop when I want.

My only problem is that my login screen loads with the Xubuntu theme. This wouldn't be a problem except it makes it take significantly longer to boot into Ubuntu (Gnome).

How can I change it back so that Gnome is the default, and XFCE only gets loaded if I pick it at login?

what are my options with customizing Gnome at the login screen?
