Ubuntu Multimedia :: Banshee Write To An SD Card?

Apr 3, 2011

I've star rated hundreds of tracks. All I want to do is write the 4* & 5* tracks to an SD card for use elsewhere. Banshee can use Brasero to write them to CD so at a push I could write a CD then copy it back to an SD card but that seems the long way round.

I'm using Banshee 1.8.1 on Lucid.

General :: Cannot Write To SD Card Anymore

Dec 24, 2008

I am using OpenSuSE 11.0
KDE 3.5.9
Konqueror

I was able to copy 227 images to a brand new 2GB memory card and I am only using 8% of the card and now I can't write to it anymore?

Code:
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
df -h returns this : /dev/sdd1
1.9G 136M 1.8G 8% /media/disk-2

This isn't the first time this has happened either. Just the last couple times I didn't really care enough to pursue it. But now I am trying to load a card for my daughters digital photo frame and I can't because now all of a sudden I can no longer write to the drive? The exact error message I get is: "Could not write to /media/disk/image.jpg" and when I try to create a new folder, I get a disk full error message? How in the heck is this possible when I am only using 136MB of 2GB of capacity?

General :: SD Card Write Protect On But Not Enabled

Sep 21, 2010

I plugged in a SDCard (SanDisk 4GB) with the write protect On in my Ubuntu system. Ideally this shouldn't have allowed me to write to this card. But it did. And that's when I found that it was getting mounted as a rw filesystem instead of ro. But the same card when I inserted it in another Ubuntu system with write protect On, this problem was not there. So nothing wrong with the Card.

General :: Write To SD Card Fails - No Error

Feb 17, 2010

I am using Sandisk 2GB micro SD card on ARM processor EP9307A. The card is detected, mounted.
I can read data from the SD card. But cannot write to it. There is no error when I attempt to write to the Card. It appears as if its working fine. But after umount and re-mount, the data written is gone.

Here is the log when the SD card is detected:
# insmod drv
card size = 1977614336, sector size = 31, wp_grp_size = 127, wp_grp_enable = y
S:00001000 M:fffff000

What is the significance of Write Group Protect Enable (wp_grp_enable=y). Is it the case that the SD card is write protected.

Using CMD9 : SEND_CSD , I can read the Card Specific Data (CSD).
I have tried CMD27 : PROGRAM_CSD , to CLEAR wr_grp_enable : No effect seen.
I have tried CMD29 : CLEAR_WRITE_PROT ,: No effect seen.

Where is the issue,
1. I could not send commands properly.
2. Card cannot be set free from WRITE_PROTECT.
3. Something else.

Debian :: Low Power Server / Use USD Card As Write Buffer So HD Idles

Dec 18, 2015

I have made a server using a bananapi. The bananapi is an embedded linux mini PC, using an allwinner A20 SOC. This server boots and runs from an uSD card, and logs data from sensors to an attached 1TB hard drive. This works OK, but the hard drive consumes a lot of power (about 2.5W), this essentially doubles the amount of power needed. I am planning to power this setup from an accu, therefore I would like to keep power consumption as low as possible.

I am planning to let the application log to the uSD card. After a while the uSD card is almost full. At that moment I can wake up the HD, move the data to the HD, delete the data from the uSD card, set the HD to sleep, and wait until the uSD card is full again. Is there some clever way to do this? I can do this with basic shell scripting, but then I get all kind of issues like open files that are copied to the HD while they are still being filled by the logging application. This would mean they end up on the HD incomplete.

Hardware :: PCMCIA Linear Flash - Read And Write To The Card

I've rebuilt latest stable kernel (2.6.37.2) with all the PCMCIA options turned on or built as modules. I've got an SRAM card, a CompactFlash Card (in a CF to PC-Card adapter) and the Linear Flash card to try, the SRAM card I'm not expecting greatness from, but hoping to prove that the slot works (it registers, but doesn't get much reported from lspcmcia). The CF card in the adapter works. I'm expecting to see a block device in /dev but nothing appears lspci:

General :: Cannot Read / Write SD Card After Improper Format (sector Size 0) - Fix It?

Jun 12, 2011

I was attempting to reformat a 16GB MicroSD card in my camera when the battery died mid-way. After that, any time I try to read the card in my camera, it gives me a "Card Error" and does not allow me to reformat it in my camera.

So, I thought I would plug the camera in to the laptop with it set to host the card as media when plugged in as USB, in an attempt to fix the formatting issue.

However, when I plug it in to my linux machine, it does not register as a device (e.g., /dev/sda) due to some errors, therefore I cannot reformat it. Essentially, I think I need to fix the partition table but I'm not sure how to when it doesn't register as a device. code...

Hardware :: Phone And Memory Card Auto Mounting With Write Permissions

Feb 4, 2010

Few weeks ago modified my old mobile phone SE k750i by setting on it w800i firmware. After this my phone isn't really (fully automatically) recognized by Ubuntu (9.10) which is the small problem for me now. Linux recognizes it as a USB device, but doesn't automatically mount it, which is why I have to do that manually and that leads to read only permissions for my user.

Here are the few outputs:

lsusb
Code:
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Bus 002 Device 006: ID 046d:c222 Logitech, Inc. G15 Keyboard / LCD
Bus 002 Device 005: ID 046d:c221 Logitech, Inc. G15 Keyboard / Keyboard
Bus 002 Device 004: ID 0fce:d028 Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications AB
Bus 002 Device 003: ID 046d:c018 Logitech, Inc. Optical Wheel Mouse
Bus 002 Device 002: ID 046d:c223 Logitech, Inc. G15 Keyboard / USB Hub
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
dmesg | grep usb .....

I've tried to create a custom udev rule via this thread, by putting the correct information according to lsusb:

Code:
SUBSYSTEMS=="usb", ATTRS{idVendor}=="0fce", ATTRS{idProduct}=="d028", MODE="0660", OWNER="zivs"
and reloading the udev rules, but that didn't help also.

How could I make my Ubuntu mount the /dev/sdb1 (which is my phone's memory card, since manually mounting it, there's all my phone recorded stuff) automatically on Desktop with all read and write permissions when I connect my phone to computer? Phone gets recognized immediately on Win7 OS ... but after the firmware change it's not really recognized by Ubuntu anymore.

General :: Storage - Mount "locked" SD Card As Read-write In GNU

Feb 9, 2010

My Canon PowerShot A470 + CHDK can write to SD-cards that are "locked" (the lock switch is used to make the card bootable), but GNU/Linux

`/dev/mmcblk1': Read-only file system

So I have to switch that switch on and off again and again. ("unlocked" to write to the card in Linux, "locked" to boot the camera from it).

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Video Card Died New Card Boots To Black?

but my ubuntu 10.04 32-bit system still won't boot. Shortly after the ubuntu logo comes up, before the login, my screen goes black and there is no more video signal. What else can I do to reset the video configuration? The card only has this info on it: I could put the card back in the system, reboot, and then pre-configure the system to drop to the intel 865G on-board video, but the msi card has intermittent problems and will spontaneously re-boot several times during the first ten minutes of turning on the system.

Ubuntu :: Card Does Not Show Up Under 'capture Card' Section

Mar 6, 2011

Recently I had to replace my Hauppauge HVR-1600 (it was doing everything I wanted it to do but after a few years burned out) and decided to get the HVR-2250. Before purchasing I checked the forums and noticed that there was quite a bit of support and most everyone managed to get it working so I thought it would be a good idea.

The problem I have now is that, though lspci shows the card as Multimedia controller: Philips Semiconductors Device 7164 (rev 81); however, when trying to setup mythtv-backend, the card does not show up under the "capture card" section. After a few hours of research, I came across this thread and it seemed to be general consensus that the method worked so I tried it. Still no luck.I ended up formatting, fresh install of Ubuntu 10.10 and then installed MythTV and still nothing. Not really sure where to go from here.
