Ubuntu :: Cannot Post On Forum - Click On "submit" To Post A Thread The Page Will Just Say "loading..."
Sep 28, 2010
For some odd reason, I cannot post on the ubuntu forum and the LinuxMint forum. Yea, I know.... the irony... I am using Mozilla and have tried Chromium, but that did not fix my problem. When I click on "submit" to post a thread, the page will just say "loading..." and nothing happens for a really long time. Does anyone know what is up? I tried posting on one other forum that I go to often and it seems to work out fine. I haven't tried any other forums though.
I've used the forums infrequently, being more of a mailing list kind of guy. But I'm currently tinkering with an old laptop I got as a "gift" which doesn't have an ethernet port, And if I wanted to use my cable modems usb connection to apt-get etc for the installed Ubuntu Lucid, I had to disconnect my router. This pc isn't yet configured with my mail client etc... So I thought I'd try the forum again...I noticed that using: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.2.3) Gecko/20100423 Ubuntu/10.04 (lucid) Firefox/3.6.3 Which has not been modified yet (except to add the scroogle search bar) I keep timing out.
IEI logged in to ubuntu forums, found an existing thread related to something I'd like to do with it.clicked on quote, and began composing a followup. When I was ready to preview the thread I got an error that said I wasn't logged in. and suggested I use some included form to try again. The form looked like it wanted my username and password but wouldn't let me enter the required info into the blank fields... I had to simply log in again with the login link at the top of the forum page, and use the back button (alt+leftarrow) several times until my reply was recovered so that I could preview, fix typos & submit..I searched the forum for "forum login timeout" and found one relevant post which appeared to say the only reason it's OP had a problem was do to making changes to his copy of firefox but that it was fixed ([solved]) without saying how he fixed it. There was a reference to using about:config which is beyond my skill level...How does one keep the from login session from timing out while one's browser still has an open window to what was a logged in forum page anyway
I've done some searching on googlubuntu for and answer to this but haven't found anything.
As a Linux newbie I was wondering if there are certain types of output from the terminal I should beware of posting for everyone to see? Also are there any codes; that, if I were to be asked to run and report the output on, should raise a red flag?
I am searching for a tool that notify when new post is made on a thread. I found one program "phpBB post notifier", but it is for windows and can't run with wine. There is no author and developer page to check for more information.
I know what the URL of a webpage is and how to find it, but can't figure out how to do it with the screenshot accessory in Ubuntu 9.10. It is easy to use the tool to capture the image of a desktop, but won't let me do anything with the URL to insert it into anywhere!
I think what i need to do is update the certifcate for the apache2, but I'm not sure how to do this, where to put it, and then which of the thousand apache config lines needs to be changed
I can easily surf along to the URL [URL] and click the submit button which pokes script.php and everyone's happy. Automating this in iMacros or Selenium - no problem.
I want to automate this in a bash cron on the same server - preferably as a one-liner.
i think this is not the right place for this post, but i can not figure out how to post a bug. i am talking about the permissions of: /tmp/orbit-root. please don't tell me now "don't" log in as root if you once login as user root from the login screen the permissions of /tmp/orbit-root are set to: drwx root but if log out the permissions are not set back / or the entry will be deleted. this will end for the next login as a normal user that you will get a bulp of error messages. easy to reproduce. this is not a feature - it's a bug.
I've been using ubuntu almost exclusively for more than a year. I am now running 10.04. I was trying via launchpad to post some bugs I've run into in Ubuntu. None of the bugs relate directly to a certain process. And if they do, I have no idea how to find out their PIDs.
I can't, for the life of me see a way to attach an image to a forum post. Maybe it's time for a nap, it has been a very very long day. I've seen attached images on this forum in the past.
I have a problem with gwibber. It has emerged randomly for no apparent reason as I have not changed any settings. All of a sudden, when updating my status on Facebook, and I click send, gwibber appears to work for a while, and then just nothing happens. My status does not get updated. It works fine with Twitter. It's only facebook. I have checked my application settings in Facebook and gwibber has full permission to post.#
I tried setting up the account again in gwibber, but this just opened a can of worms, because I had to reinstall gwibber and delete all of the config files in order to reinstate my facebook account, (see URL...)due to a bug in gwibber, which was a pain.
I can not post to Ubuntu Server section, I choose this section to post about this mysql general problem. I just checking mysql and trying to execute
[Code]...
you know what's the general or the common output? I've not found it yet through google until now. This is my result;
[code]...
but i realize, i never create debian-sys-maint and again, i never create root user until 3 times. Is this some error or missconcept or what? when if we do removing those users, and create 1 user (example: root) is it safe?
I have a problem with installing ubuntu 11.04 I get this message: Code: Hspell: can't open /usr/share/hspell/Hebrew.wgz.sizes It's get stuck with the updating time from internet servers process but I can't find a way to report it to launchpad.
I have a data file with the following format 0 i j # # # # with other random lines of text to be filtered out.The following script works when there aren't many #s, but it shuffles long lists of data.
I'm posting this from my Vista Laptop. I recently upgraded to Lynx and I can't access my Gmail account via the web. I can download emails with thunderbird, but I can't send emails. I can log into chat boards and read posts but I can't make posts of my own.Basically, Ubuntu won't let me push data out to the internet.
When I tried to post to this board from my Ubuntu box, it ends up where to save the file newthread.php.
I'm running karmic koala 9.10I installed cups-pdf and it now shows as the default in my printer list, but when I choose the file type drop down from the printer dialog box it only has ps as an option so when I save it I end up with a post script file not a pdf.
I'm trying to make the changes listed in post #5 here to my Inspiron 8000: There's no xorg.conf in Xubuntu 10.04. But I figured out how to create one, and I edited it as suggested. But there's no menu.lst in Xubuntu 10.04 either. That is, the file called "menu.lst" is located in
/usr/share/doc/memtest86+/examples
and it has no "defoptions" line. So how can I make the poster's suggested changes (i.e., do something functionally equivalent, assuming that's possible) to my newer system?
I'm running 10.04 (64bit) on an hp dv6915nr and sound has been working great for the past few weeks. When I started the machine up today, it wouldn't play any sounds and the sound preferences show no input devices. Output devices lists simply "Dummy Output".
The only thing that I believe to have changed recently is updates. I installed a set of updates a day or tow ago. I hadn't used anything requiring sound immediately after the update, so I'm not sure if the updates were the issue.
I am working on a calendar system for my own use, basiccaly what's doing is downloading my list of appoints from Goole calendar using GoogleCL and saving it to a text file on my computer. I am refreshing this info once every hour...
What I'd like to do is check to see if any appoints are within the next 48 hours (I know how to do this part) and if so post a message to the ubuntu notification system so it gives a little popup... How would I go about this?
I am using the following software stack:Linux version 2.6.32-21-generic (buildd@yellow) (gcc version 4.4.3 (Ubuntu 4.4.3-4ubuntu5) ) #32-Ubuntu SMP Fri Apr 16 08:09:38 UTC 2010 (Ubuntu 2.6.32-21.32-generic 2.6.32.11+drm33.2) (Kubuntu) cisco anyconnect vpn client 2.3.2016, Mozilla Firefox 3.6.8
The problem I have is that once I join my company vpn, I have full access to corporate services confluence, jira, servers, etc. However when I use firefox to try and resolve a jira and post a body of text the connection timesout.
If i use any other browser it works fine, if slow, if i transition workflows it works fine, and if i use windows and firefox with the same cisco client it works fine.
This appears to be a specific issue with Firefox. I have noticed that in general firefox is slower on ubuntu than on any other platform.
Both on a 10.04 and a newly installed 10.10:After BIOS post, I get no grub and just a blinking index in the upper left. I've left it for hours, never boots. How can I resolve this without getting any Grub boot options?
OS: Windows 7Problem: Want to dual boot Ubuntu and Win 7, but OS screen won't show after POST.I need some assistance in installing Ubuntu 10.10. This would be my first Linux installation, all I have done otherwise was virtualize Ubuntu 9.10.I have tried installing two times now but I can't get the boot screen to pop up for when I dual boot and check my OS.So here is what I did, not ever partitioning a drive before for duel booting:1. Go into Disk Manager and shrink the volume of the main HD by 25GB (I was going to use this for Ubuntu)2. I then inserted the Live CD with Ubuntu 10.10 on it and proceeded to install, however when choosing where to install it, I chose the advanced options and chose the partition that I set aside as free space for Linux (25GB -- 25600MB).
3. I set the boot loader to this partition, as the other partitions are the w7(windows 7) loader and the label of the HD. The partition was labled dev/shd5 or something like that. But when I am done installing and try to boot normally the screen where I am to choose which OS to boot does not appear.Question:What should I do to dual boot? I also tried selecting boot alongside another (or similar) and set the same settings as using the dev/shd5 free space that I allocated (25GB) and placing the boot loader on the same partition, which is not the main partition.I do not want to overwrite the Windows Partition as I have things on there that I will need,
I've OpenOffice v3.2 installed on my ubuntu lucid lynx. I've recently installed the Sun Weblog Extension on it. It should help me post to my blogs, but as I tried searching the internet I came to find out that I had to install some sort of update. I don't know what that update is. The place where I got that info is from the following online pdf document.[URL].. I also tried looking at some blog posts which tried to explain how to do the setup for the extension. But the settings screen turned out to be blank. The place where I got this info was here [URL]..
