Ubuntu :: Cannot Burn To DVD

Aug 7, 2010

I have just installed Ubuntu 10.04 onto my Compaq Evo N1020v (quite old laptop) The installation seemed to install without any problems and all updates have been done in update manager. Ubuntu is the only operating system on the laptop. My problem is, neither of the file burning apps Brasero Disk Burner or Send to CD/DVD will detect my blank DVD's. Both apps detect the blank CD's without a problem. File browser is able to read data on this DVD type in fact I installed Ubuntu from a DVD of this type.

Ubuntu :: Can't Burn Any Cd/dvd With 11.04

Jul 15, 2011

I have Ubuntu 11.04 with all updates installed.

I can not burn any cd / dvd with Braseo, GnomeBaker, nautilus burner, etc.

The discs are "apparently" normally recorded

But then Ubuntu or DVDPlayer does not recognize the DVD or CD I burned.

Conclusion: Waste DVDs because they are unusable and I can not record.

I have a Gateway nv-53 laptop.

P.D: In older Ubuntu editions, Fedora 15, etc, I can burn disc perfectly.

Ubuntu :: Can't Burn Cds Through Rhythmbox

Apr 25, 2010

I'm having sort of an odd problem trying to burn Cds through Rhythmbox on 9.10. Sometimes it has no problem burning the disc, but lately after I hit "burn" nothing happens and my fan starts running really loud. I think the disc just sits there spinning.

I can still burn discs using brasero, but it seems to be taking a lot longer than it should be. I'm hoping someone might have a quick fix for burning playlists straight from rhythmbox.

Ubuntu :: Can't Burn Lucid 10.04 Iso CD

Apr 30, 2010

I've burned iso CDs for 8.10, 9.04, 9.10, Linux Mint 5, 6, 7 with Brasero. In addition I've burned music CDs with Brasero. It has worked well for me. But now I can't burn a 10.04 iso CD. I REALLY want to get a CD burned so I can install Lucid Lynx.

don't suggest I try kb3, Gnomebaker, or some other burner.. Brasero which always worked before.

Ubuntu :: How To Burn MP3 Music CDs

May 31, 2010

The applications normally installed, like Brasero or GnomeBaker, seem to know just to burn audio CDs. I found in Package Manager three other applications with promising names (mp3burn, mp3roaster, mp3cd), but they also burn audio CDs... from mp3 files. What I want is to burn mp3 CDs playable on stereo systems, using mp3 files, or even converting from audio CDs or files (like for instance with Nero in Windows). Is there any solution?

Ubuntu :: Use Last Blank CD To Burn 10.04 Or 9.10?

I have lost my Karmic CD and have already used it to create a persistent LiveUSB. Now I think I might want to install / dual boot my new laptop with Ubuntu, I really love it and it just works. But I have one Blank CD left, I know Karmic works perfectly. Should I DL 10.04 and try that version? Also I am going to be using this guide to install

http://thpc.info/dual/vista/dualboot..._on_vista.html Yes, I do want to use EasyBCD instead of GRUB, its to risky for me and I am shivering just thinking about it.

Ubuntu :: Unable To Burn CD/DVD?

Jun 11, 2010

I feel really stupid here. I've looked around but no fix I can figure out. I downloaded a i386 iso of Ubuntu to install on my daughter's laptop and I can't get the CD/DVD Creator on my main computer to burn it to either CD or DVD.

I *know* I've done it before but maybe that was on Jaunty not Lucid which I have on my computer now.

I can load the iso file into CD/DVD Creator and when I get to the "Write to disc" option it says: "Write disc to: FILE IMAGE" and there is no option to write it to my CD/DVD drive. It's as if the DVD writer is not mounted.

EDIT: The md5 checksum is fine, by the way..

Ubuntu :: Can't Burn CD Without Error?

Jul 21, 2010

Running Ubuntu 10.04 now, and still I can't burn a disc without errors. I had a different computer the last time I was able to burn a CD in Ubuntu. ECS K5S5A Motherboard died, and I acquired another computer, running another brand, similar AMD Athlon motherboard. 1.0 GHz processor instead of the 1.05 GHz Athlon processor , but the is laid out very similar.

Installed 9.04 from a disc burnt on the old computer. Trouble with errors in Brasero, and I upgraded through the Update Manager to 9.10 then to 10.04. I replaced the burner with the one out of my dead computer, that burnt successfully before it died, and I still have errors.

My Log:

Ubuntu :: Cannot Burn Data To CD-R

Trying to burn a folder full of stuff to back it all up. I've tried both Brasero and K3b, and neither will do the trick, even though they both successfully simulating the burn. Not getting much feedback on why the burn won't work - K3b says OPC failed, probably doesn't like the medium. I've tried to do the job with plenty of CDs now, so I don't think it's down to dodgy disks.

Ubuntu :: Convert Avi To Dvd Burn Dvd?

Sep 1, 2011

I have searched (and searched and searched), but believe I have now used all remaining brain cells. I have Natty (dual boot XP). I have a 700MB avi file.ice on my computer(s), but I would like to play it on my home dvd player with big screen tv. Seems simple enough, in theory, get DeVeDe*, create ISO, use Brasero, burn DVD, play DVD. Well so much for theory...DeVeDe says I first need 'remove' Libavcodec52, Libavutil50, etc. So I go to 'remove' these pieces and I then get message "to remove Libavcodec52, these items must be removed as well:" This includes VLC and vlc-nox and Ffmpeg plug in! I don't currently use VLC, but understand that is a very good player to have.Is it really this complicated to get to watch an avi on my dvd player? I must be missing something obvious. and yes, I am also confused on the required "dependencies." Like where to get them, why, do I really need them, etc.

Hardware :: Ubuntu Won't Burn Cd Or Dvd

Apr 11, 2010

i have tried numerious cd and dvd burning tools and nothing has happened but wasted blanks i tried k3b the first time when i made a dvd video disk image in devede and then tried to burn it with the k3b program and it just didn't move (the progress bar didn't do anything except just sit there and do nothing) and after about 10 minutes it gives up and the disk is ruined gnomebaker is another one i tried to make an audio cd in so when i put in all of the music files it tells me that the audio files were being made into a format to burn to the cd and then when the moment came for it to burn the cd it did the same thing k3b did, just sit and do nothing for 10 minutes then gave up and yet another ruined blank disk ps i haven't updated the system since i installed ubuntu but last install i used, i updated ubuntu and there wasn't anything showing on the screen. i think the video drivers or something didn't get aklong with my machine but when it did show a picture everything lost its color like i started seeing pink and purple in places nothing was colored as it should anymore so thats not an option. and this computer is brand new it has no hardware defects or anything so the burner should work fine i am dual booting in windows 7 but i prefer ubuntu (windows 7's new features are getting too annoying so i just gave up on it but i'm not getting rid of it) anyway the cd burner works fine in windows but what about ubuntu whats the problem here.
