Edit it now seems to be working after a few updates and re-starts!
Looking to buy a wireless mouse/keyboard for my wife. Want one of good quality that will work with Ubuntu 10.04 and is in current production. Even better if its a brand that Fry's or Newegg carries.

The keyboard is set to CZ, but always after start automatically switched on ENG, I have to go to Yast and open keyboard setup and close even if the CZ is selected to force the CZ layout.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to install slackware 32 bit 13.1.After loading kernel it asks for keyboard configuration, but keyboard (usb wireless) doesn't work.
Keyboard works on the old 13.0 installation, on bios and also in the boot options of 13.1 installation cd.
I've tried removing legacy usb support and changing usb2.0 speed from high to full. Nothing changed.
Anybody with this strange problem? (kernel of setup seems also to detect it correctly as a trust keyboard).
I have upgraded my laptop to 10.04 while having my usb-keyboard plugged in.f I boot the laptop without a plugged in keyboard, the laptop keyboard is not working. It starts working as soon as I plug a usb-keyboard in though.Quite annoying if I take my laptop with me and the first thing after booting is to find a usb-keyboard to plug in Does anyone know where can I reconfigure this? [edit]I just found out, that the laptop keyboar seems to be in numlock mode... meaning that the keys [j,k,l] is mapped to [1,2,3] etc

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Studio XPS desktop 435MT, with Ubuntu 9.1 64 bit version. There is no ps/2 port in this computer. It worked perfectly fine until yesterday I switched it on and my keyboard lights switch on, but no key pressed works from the very beginning Dell BIOS screen! I have tried to use LiveCD but keyboard doesn't work even there, so it automatically selects english and loads from cd... once it installs the livecd version and loads it, the keyboard starts working again (good thing as I recovered my data). I have also tried inserting norton ghost or other dell setup cds but don't work because a key needs to be pressed and so goes on loading grub (which doesn't work). I will try to fresh install from the terminal screen of the livecd ubuntu.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI don't think I could be much newer to Ubuntu (I only started using it properly an hour ago) and I'm having trouble with the keyboard shortcuts. Nothing happens when I press alt-f2 to run terminal, or ctrl-alt-tab to switch workspaces. I also cannot use the fn keys to dim the screen, change the volume etc

View 2 Replies View RelatedI can log into ubuntu using my keyboard and mouse but about 5 seconds after I hit enter my mouse quits working. Keyboard still works so I can open terminal and use all keyboard. But, if I hit the touchpad toggle button over and over again many many times in a row, the mouse will start to work and my keyboard stops. I don't know what my course of action is to fix this strange problem. It just started today.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo my computer was slow with Karmic Koala, so I tried upgrading my build to Lucid Lynx 10.04.
Now I can't login because neither my keyboard nor mouse (and touch-pad) work. However, I can access the command mode (terminal?) though through the grub boot menu.
how I can get my mouse (and touch-pad) and keyboard to work with Ubuntu 10.04? My machine is an Acer Aspire 4730Z. I dual boot with Windows 7, and I'd prefer not to have to clear out the partition for Linux and reinstall.
I messed up my xorg.conf and tried to put in a clean one, but it doesn't seem to work. I'm not sure what went wrong. When X loads, the mouse cursor is not responding and my keyboard is dead too. I can't toggle to text mode either (Alt-Ctrl-F1).Hope the following files might explain what's wrong./var/log/Xorg.0.log

I have a dual boot vista/maverick on an Acer Aspire 5100 laptop.

View 9 Replies View RelatedThis is the first time I've got a major problem with Ubuntu (I started with version 5), and this one is particularly frustrating.I'm running Ubuntu 11.04 on my old (2007) desktop PC.Occasionally, but more and more often now, the keyboard just stops working. The mouse is still fine. When I shut down, I would sometime notice that the "stop crash report generation" process fails. Then the shutdown sequence stops at some point, and I am forced to do a hard shutdown, power down for a while, and reboot. If I don't wait after power off, the keyboard freeze would occur again at any time during the start up sequence. I even had a keyboard freeze after manually switching to the Windows boot.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been using citrix to log into work for quite some time now. Recently I ran into a problem where the keyboard stops working after some time. The link below from a citirx forum describes the issue. The work-round is to edit the file config/module.ini below the client's installation directory (usually /usr/lib/ICAClient)ind the line "UseLocalIM=True" and change the value to "False".My issue is that this a root file and I don't want to compromise my system. So my question is should I try this and if so could somebody lead me by the hand as to how; using the sudo and I believe chmod command

View 4 Replies View RelatedI want to switch my laptop from XP to Ubuntu, but right now, i cant risk installing it. i dont want to have it partitioned so i can dual boot, so for now i only run the try-it-out mode. Before i consider installing though, i want to see if i can get everything to work ahead of time, that way im not regreting instalation. I have a Compaq Presario V2000 laptop, with 55GB hard drive and 516MB ram. So far, the trial mode is working great, but the wireless will not work. Ive tried to install the driver, but i am unable to do so. I have looked this up, and i have tried many things, and so far, none have worked.I was wondering if it was just part of the trial thing or not, but it is a Broadcom Wireless BCM4318 driver
View 9 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded from 9.10 to 10.04 and my wireless USB keyboard stopped working. Any ideas how to fix/debug this? I get no response at all (at GRUB or login, or after login). Previously in 9.10 I could use it from the login screen but not at GRUB. It's a Logicool Wireless USB keyboard. I CAN use a wireless USB mouse.

When originally installing 11.04 I had problems getting my Ralink 5390 wireless card to work.
Today my computer froze completely and I had to turn it off via the power switch. When I turned it back on, wireless was no longer recognized! My iPod can connect to the network just fine, so it must be an Ubuntu problem. There are no problems with my ethernet connection either.
I researched this and found several threads about blocking and unblocking wireless devices using the rfkill command. Well, unfortunately for me the rfkill command doesn't work. When I type sudo rfkill list or sudo rfkill unblock all, nothing happens; it just returns me to my bash prompt. I even tried uninstalling and reinstalling rfkill...nothing.
I can connect to the internet with wired connection. The switch for the device is on but this command "sudo lshw -C network" has the following results:

My R key isn't working anymore. I use Karmic Koala.
The keyboard preferences is set up for different languages, but that's not my problem.
I'd like to make it so when I type the key to the left of 1 (the one that types out ` and ~) that it types R.
I just installed Ubuntu 9.10 on a dell d630 laptop and tried to connect an external ps2 keyboard and mouse using USB connectors to the laptop's USB ports. However, they are not detected by the system.
View 2 Replies View RelatedHas anyone had trouble getting their keybaord shortcuts to work? I have compiz running, which has introduced some minor quirks. When I'm in the KB Short Cuts gui interface, I cannot revert back to 'Disables'. Hitting the Backspace key takes me to the top of the page and does not revert to disabled? Gonna disable compiz and try again...
