Well I updated from 9.04 to 10.04 and Vuze does not open for me anymore when I click it. Is there anything that got thrown out that I need to install to get it back going for me?
how to get Vuz installed properly and running, however I would like to make it start the gui interface automatically on login/startup and minimized. I tried adding it to the SYSTEM->PREFERENCES->STARTUP APPLICATIONS as that seemed the obvious way to do it, however it does not startup automatically after I restart the system.
I am running: Ubuntu 10.04 LTS Java 1.6.0_18 Sun Microsystems Inc. SWT v3555, gtk Linux v2.6.32-23-generic, i386 Vuze V4.3.0.6/4 az3
i was using ubuntu 10.10 and vuze as the default bit-torrent client. I upgraded to natty alpha 3 a couple of days ago and after that vuze doesn't even launch...i don't see any errors, when you click on the icon absolutely nothing happens. I tried removing vuze and then installing it again,
I'm running 64 bit Ubuntu. When I first log in and open up Vuze using the icon in my GUI it starts and runs just fine. The second I start to run a search Vuze crashes. The Icon will show up in my Unity Panel and I'm able to maximize, and minimize to this thread.[URL].. As soon as I start the APP i get this error in the lower right hand corner. "Vuze did not shutdown tidily" It gives me a link to the Vuze log files, and all I get is out of it is this.
I am running 10.04 and have installed Vuze. I went thru the speed test which reported back my correct internet speeds. However, when I did a search, it would just sit there forever and do nothing. I ran the NAT test and it had issues. I checked the port which was 28618, and added that as an exception to the firewall. Then the NAT test says everything is okay. But when I start Vuze again, I have NAT problems again. Anyone know what I need to do ? I read something about port forwarding, but don't have a clue what to do. Is Vuze a good program ?
I have installed Vuze on my 9.04 today via Add/Remove. But when i click on Vuze.. nothing Happens.. Absolutely nothing happens.. Java runtime 6 is already installed in my system.....
I use vuze. I added some torrents to it, but some time after i removed them using vuze's interface. I did these steps:
1. Right button click 2. Remove and 3. Remove both
After doing this, there was no change in my free disk space and some bizare things started to happen. Here is a screenshot about free disk space confusion that is happening. The partition is ext3. Does anyone know what could be the cause of this? How can i fix this? Does anyone experienced the same problem?
Here is a screenshot showing differences in free space displayed by nautilus and df.

On Lucid with Sun Java installed (and open source cousins removed), I've installed Vuze and opened the incoming port in my firewall. All the configuration and tests run fine, except..*The links on Getting Started page don't work.*Search doesn't work.*Even from the Vuze HD Network tab, I can click to download and nothing happens. I have Vuze installed on a Windows machine wired to the same router and the application there worked fine, right from the start. What more do I need to do to make it work on Lucid?
I'm having a problem with Vuze locking up when I use the speed scheduler plugin. I never had this issue when I was using them in windows.
Here is whats happening. I have speed scheduler set to pause my seeds during the day. sometimes when it pauses a finished torrent the status of the torrent will be stuck on "stopping". When it does this my bandwidth up and down drop to 0 and I cannot download new torrents. I cannot removed the "stopping" torrent or even restart it. Vuze just kind of locks up. I have to kill the java process and restart Vuse before I can get it working again.
I'm running the latest version of Vuze and the speed scheduler plugin on Ubuntu 10.04.
I have the following spec: - Intel Core 2 Duo 1.86Ghz - 4GB Ram - 1TB Hard Disk - 256MB Nvidia GeForce Graphics Card
I believe my system is quite fast, yet programs like JDownloader and Vuze (aka azureus) are very slow. More so on the GUI side, not so much program functionality (although I have not tested this either). If I scroll down a list of items, it takes ages, it lags and response time is quite bad. Also, I have two java processes running, each using 200MB of memory. I am assuming one is for Vuze and the other is for Jdownloader. It seems to me that Windows XP/Windows 7 ran java applications much faster and had less ram. I definitely see that with Vuze as it never went into the 200MB area when under windows.
Vuze downloaded an update, and now everytime I use it keeps telling me to re start for the update to have an effect. When I re start, same thing happens again tells me it needs to restart. I'm using Gnome and openSUSE 11.3. I checked older posts for a solution it seems this has happened before. Do I just wait for a new version to come out of the repos?
This issue seen with Vuze 4.3.10 and gcc-java-4.3.3-i4 running on Slackware 13.0 32-bit.Installed Vuze 4.3.10 from Vuze_4.3.1.0_linux.tar.bz2 downloaded from Sourceforge and tested OK as non-root user using ~/.azureus configuration from previous 4.2.0.8. OK. Did not use for a week. Opened the Slackware 13.0 32-bit DVD torrent using Firefox 3.5.3. Saw Vuze message advising torrent had been added but Vuze exited.Started Vuze as same non-root user in a terminal using /opt/vuze/vuze &. Saw
I used to have Opensuse 11.0 and Vuze 4.0.2 and both were working great. Recently I upgraded to OpenSuse 11.3 and installed Vuze 4.5.10. I did not change any configuration in the ADSL router but now I could not get the smiley icon to go green. I followed all the steps given here: A Quick Bittorrent Guide (with screenshots). It doesn't work. so I modified FW_ROUTE and FW_MASQUERADE to yes in /etc/sysconfig/SuSefirewall2. That also does not work. What did I miss here? My ADSL router is DSL-2640T.
I've just upgraded to xubuntu 11.04 and every thing seems to work fine and better than version 10. The only problem I have is that after some hour of working programs like vuze, amule, qbittorrent shuts down and disappears. if example: if I leave those software on for teh whole night the morning after they are closed and i have to restart them again
I installed Azureus from their site. It works well. The only problem is when Azureus tries to apply updates, I get this error message:
"The folder <path-where-I-installed-Vuze> is not writable. This will prevent future software updates from being applied."
There was a link the the Vuze wiki, and the problem is that I (or is it the Azureus updater?) do not have permissions to write to that directory, or words to that effect.
How do I apply the proper permissions so that when an update from Azureus is downloaded, it is applied?
The wiki offers this solution:
Quote:
But this looks like something that I have to do manually, each time...
How do I set it up, so that the updater has the permissions and uses the proper password to do it automatically, when I restart Vuze?
I upgraded from 11.2 gnome to 11.4 gnome. I have not found a way to install Vuze. It does not show up in Software Management. I have read that Packman repository is needed, which I have. I have been searching for some instructions, but only find postings about Vuze that has already been installed.
When i open one of the web browsers i use and try to load a web site it's taking to long to respond and sometimes it doesnt load the website at all. I have tried with firefox, epiphany, opera with all the same results. I am sure that this is not a problem with my internet connection because i don't have these problems with windows. Also the network manager connection settings are correct
I also tried choosing the old kernel(2.6.32.24) to boot from but no success. The problem is the same as if i am using the 2.6.32.25 kernel. The strange thing is that i can download packages from synaptic with full speed. Last think.I have recently downloaded the recommended updates from the update manager but i don't remember what are the things that where updated.
I'm trying to install Ubuntu (9.10) on my sisters computer. I have installed ubuntu 9.10, but when I try to boot it from hard drive, it would stop loading a bit after the logo appears. The screen would turn off while the system is still running. Live version of Ubuntu works after reports of errors. I tried to search for the problem all over the forum, and could not find a good lead to figure out the problem.
So far to figure out the problem, I verified if cd is corrupted. No issues there. Googled the problem, and seems like other users were able to install 7.04 (old posts). Its so weird though that live version works and the installed version does not.
Here are my specs:
I can post logs, but I'm not sure which one is useful as I'm relatively new to this process.
I get warning messages and also I can't change the port number... it stops at 49,150 or thereabouts. When I install bittorrent, it's not in the menu and when I try to run the app, it's not found. I am using LXDE but I wish I didn't choose this DE. I hate it sorry for ranting but just frustrated. When I download the torrent file, it is greyed out. I have no idea what's wrong but never seen this before. I usually use Bittorrent in Windows and it looks like I'm going back to that. I have used in Linux before but never had this much trouble.
I had Fedora 7 and Windows Vista dual booting on my computer. I just installed Fedora 10. When the live CD asked me where to install it, I chose "Remove all Linux Partitions and create default layout" The installation went perfectly, but now when reboot my computer, it boots directly into Fedora; GRUB does not load to ask me which OS I want to load. I know I did not overwrite Vista because I can still view my Vista files through Fedora. Here is my grub.conf file:
[Code]...
What do I need to do to make GRUB load again upon booting?
I have found that APACHE or 'httpd' is installed in my machine. But the problem is I can start or stop the httpd but whenever I load the url http://localhost in Mozilla it shows a page load error.I have done this ,
$ /etc/init.d/httpd start then this $ /etc/init.d/httpd graceful
I noticed my Firefox loading rather slow (took around 5 - 7 seconds to load and navigate pages, even google, and it would sometimes become unresponsive), I thought it may have been a addon problem, so I opened up a new Firefox profile with no addons but the browser crashed upon loading the certain page I was trying to view, and I figured I'd look into it later and use Chromium for a while (I'll be open, I was trying to watch an pron tube site, and when your, you know, you don't really feel like stopping to go technical and try to fix it or whatever), but Chromium said that the flash player wasn't installed. I thought it was kinda odd, but then again I didn't want to go technical and thought maybe since mozilla firefoxs engine loaded the flash, I'd use Mozilla Seamonkey which uses the same gecko engine. The flash wasn't working either on there.
I tried looking up to see if there was a 64bit deb package for flash, but they didn't have it, and I seen someone mention that doing the 'apt-get upgrade' upgrades it, so I did that, and it also said it installed some extra packages when doing it, but I figured it was just that getlibs grabbing the extra dependencies and went along with installing them (after all there shouldnt be much to lose since its from the repository, right?)
I restarted the computer to give the updates a chance to take effect (it didn't mention to restart, but I thought I'd go ahead and do it anyways to ensure it updated okay).
This is where the booting problem comes in: When my laptop restarted, the loading was going across very slowly (I have ubuntu studio installed through regular ubuntu, so it was showing the text filling up), normally it would just fill a little bit of the first "U" in "Ubuntu Studio" and then be done quickly, but now it goes slowly all the way, and when it fills "Ubuntu Studio", it stills stays there, it doesn't load on.
I pressed the down button to see the terminal and it says this: Code:
I have no clue what to do now, and I wanted to ask for help before I go trying myself editing the command line boot process.
I created an Ubuntu 10.4 iso with the kickstart cfg on it, trying to boot it with the ks=/cdrom/pathtoconfig (tried even ks=cdrom:/path) parameter in VirtualBox but it refuses to load the file and just launches the generic install.
I reinstalled fedora the other day, and it's been working just fine, apart from the internet. It shows that I have a full connection with the wireless network, but it's really difficult to actually load a page. 80% of the time it just fails and shows "Page Load Error". It's really frustrating because it is connected to the internet. In fact, the icon in the address bar even loads from the site I try to access, but websites just will not load.
I've tested my wireless internet with another laptop which is running vista, and it works perfectly on that. Also, I'm running Fedora 10 on an Acer Extensa laptop.
I want to load grub2 from grub4dos.I want to load directly the grub2 core. I know how to load first 512 bytes from some patition by chainloader and load grub2, but what I need is to load directly grub2 core without passing by bootstriping code (first 512 bytes). So, my first boot manager is grub4dos, then I can load grub2 and later I load Ubuntu. But I think I have to edit --set-root What I dont know is how.
In hdd 0,7 (sda8) I have Ubuntu 10.10 and /boot/grub/core.img is in sda8 (hd0.7)
I tried this way:
Code: title grub2 find --set-root /boot/grub/core.img kernel /boot/grub/core.img
I dual boot XP and FC14 and have 2 routers. I can connect and ping one of these routers when I'm in FC and I have an IP address I just can't load any websites. When I connect to the other router (my main router) it works fine. When I boot into XP and connect to the problem router I can load pages fine. It's only when I'm on FC14 and connect to the problem router that I can't load pages even though I have an IP and can ping around.
