Jul 3, 2010Hardware: 5 year old Compaq laptop: Presario V4000. - Intel Celeron M Processor 1.3 GHz System: Ubuntu release 10.04 lucid - Kernel Linux 2.6.32-23 - generic - GNOME 2.30.0 Uses a wired connection through a router SEQUENCE OF EVENTS Friday evening - June 2, 2010 Sytem was working OK. Downloaded Ubuntu updates. Put laptop into Suspend mode. Turned off master power at surge protector. about 4 hours later tried to Unsuspend. Could not Unsuspend Pressed power button on laptop for several seconds to shutdown laptop. Saturday morning - June 3, 2010 After Ubunto booted up, launched Firefox. No internet access. File-> showed "Work Offline" checked. Unchecked it, but that didn't fix the problem. Rebooted, and still no internet. Tried an alternate cable (which was working with a desktop Winows XP computer) between router and laptop. Still no internet. Used terminal to ping the IP address of the router - ping unsuccessful.

Apr 4, 2010i have just installed Ubuntu on my new pc. i used the wubi installer in win7 i rebooted to Ubuntu and continued the install. however at the moment i have very low bandwidth and decided to skip a few steps in the install i only did it because i would have to wait over 8 Hrs for it to complete. APT is not fully configured and no updates were downloaded. once my bandwidth is restored how do i reconfigure APT and fix any broken packages/missing stuff from the initial install?

Mar 24, 2011For some reason Update Manager is not installing updates as of yesterday.I have it set to check daily and notify if updates are available. It has been working without issues for well over a year now.
Update Manager tells me updates are available and presents the list of security, recommended, and other updates. All are selected to update, but when I select Install Updates in Update Manager it returns with a Reading Package Information window overlaid on the main Update Manager window - building dependency tree then reading state information and dumps me back to the main Update Manager window without performing any update actions.

May 23, 2011like the title implies whenever I open a torrent file, vuze will run and load the torrent file and use the appropriate port.

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Vuze Won't Connect
Jul 11, 2011I am running 10.04 and have installed Vuze. I went thru the speed test which reported back my correct internet speeds. However, when I did a search, it would just sit there forever and do nothing. I ran the NAT test and it had issues. I checked the port which was 28618, and added that as an exception to the firewall. Then the NAT test says everything is okay. But when I start Vuze again, I have NAT problems again. Anyone know what I need to do ? I read something about port forwarding, but don't have a clue what to do. Is Vuze a good program ?

Jun 13, 2010I use vuze. I added some torrents to it, but some time after i removed them using vuze's interface. I did these steps:
1. Right button click
2. Remove and
3. Remove both
After doing this, there was no change in my free disk space and some bizare things started to happen. Here is a screenshot about free disk space confusion that is happening. The partition is ext3. Does anyone know what could be the cause of this? How can i fix this? Does anyone experienced the same problem?

Jun 13, 2010On Lucid with Sun Java installed (and open source cousins removed), I've installed Vuze and opened the incoming port in my firewall. All the configuration and tests run fine, except..*The links on Getting Started page don't work.*Search doesn't work.*Even from the Vuze HD Network tab, I can click to download and nothing happens. I have Vuze installed on a Windows machine wired to the same router and the application there worked fine, right from the start. What more do I need to do to make it work on Lucid?

Oct 29, 2010I dont know what the problem is ive downloaded 2 different images of ubuntu 10.10 and one for 10.04. Ive also tried the Wubi.exe download as well. everytime i try and install inside windows it gives me the error right at the end tells me that permission is denied and to check the logs. I know that im not the only one that is having this problem. I have tried to reburn the image at a slower speed only thing that i havent tried is installing using a thumb drive.

Jul 8, 2010I'm having a problem with Vuze locking up when I use the speed scheduler plugin. I never had this issue when I was using them in windows.
Here is whats happening. I have speed scheduler set to pause my seeds during the day. sometimes when it pauses a finished torrent the status of the torrent will be stuck on "stopping". When it does this my bandwidth up and down drop to 0 and I cannot download new torrents. I cannot removed the "stopping" torrent or even restart it. Vuze just kind of locks up. I have to kill the java process and restart Vuse before I can get it working again.
I'm running the latest version of Vuze and the speed scheduler plugin on Ubuntu 10.04.
Ubuntu Installation :: Downloaded The LiveCD For 64-bit From Torrent?
Apr 30, 2010So, my experience with the upgrade. Going from 9.10 64-bit to 10.4 64-bit. Tried to be a decent, sharing sort and downloaded the LiveCD for 64-bit from torrent. No problem. Didnt have any blank CDs handy, but I had a 1GB USB thumb drive that I have used to install other distros that I wanted to test, so used unetbootin to make my installation on. No problem.
LiveCD tried to run, but hung with a black screen; no blinking cursor, nothing. Problem. Restart, go back to my functioning system, and re-create the LiveCD on the thumb drive using USB Startup Disc Creator. No problem. Reboot. Monitor went into standby and never came out. Problem. Decided to give up on the LiveCD. Downloaded the alternate-install CD for 64-bit and put it on the thumb drive. No problem.
Installation went fine. No major hang-ups at this point. Had the grub_puts problem, even though I specified the correct place, and so had to reinstall grub, which fixed that.
Although it is still early in the process for me, my main (relatively minor) gripe is the same one I always have: Although Linux seems to be able to tell a lot about the hardware (through what I assume is either asking the hardware about it capabilities or getting info from the BIOS, perhaps), why can it not tell that my keyboard numlock key is supposed to be ON? My BIOS is set to turn it on at boot. My username and password both have numbers in them, and it is convenient for me to have the numlock on at boot and remain on.
I fully realize that there are many users of notebooks/netbooks that having this setting ON for default is a problem. I dont want it ON as default. I want a simple way to change the setting. Ive seen complaints and questions about this since at least Edgy (there may be older postings, but I havent needed to research back). System>Preferences>Keyboard can let me do so many things with my keyboard - except this, apparently.

- Intel Core 2 Duo 1.86Ghz
- 4GB Ram
- 1TB Hard Disk
- 256MB Nvidia GeForce Graphics Card
I believe my system is quite fast, yet programs like JDownloader and Vuze (aka azureus) are very slow. More so on the GUI side, not so much program functionality (although I have not tested this either). If I scroll down a list of items, it takes ages, it lags and response time is quite bad.Also, I have two java processes running, each using 200MB of memory. I am assuming one is for Vuze and the other is for Jdownloader. It seems to me that Windows XP/Windows 7 ran java applications much faster and had less ram. I definitely see that with Vuze as it never went into the 200MB area when under windows.

Aug 9, 2010Vuze downloaded an update, and now everytime I use it keeps telling me to re start for the update to have an effect. When I re start, same thing happens again tells me it needs to restart. I'm using Gnome and openSUSE 11.3. I checked older posts for a solution it seems this has happened before. Do I just wait for a new version to come out of the repos?
