Ubuntu :: Find Java Software Like Vuze / Jdownloader To Be Really Slow?
Oct 5, 2010
I have the following spec:
- Intel Core 2 Duo 1.86Ghz
- 4GB Ram
- 1TB Hard Disk
- 256MB Nvidia GeForce Graphics Card
I believe my system is quite fast, yet programs like JDownloader and Vuze (aka azureus) are very slow. More so on the GUI side, not so much program functionality (although I have not tested this either). If I scroll down a list of items, it takes ages, it lags and response time is quite bad. Also, I have two java processes running, each using 200MB of memory. I am assuming one is for Vuze and the other is for Jdownloader. It seems to me that Windows XP/Windows 7 ran java applications much faster and had less ram. I definitely see that with Vuze as it never went into the 200MB area when under windows.
I'm having some trouble with Java based games. I am running 11.04 64x and I downloaded and installed the latest sun-jvm. I know my hardware can run these two games very well (Minecraft and Spiral Knights). I'm wondering if maybe sun isn't my default plugin.
I have a Java application that is used to create PCB layouts called 'DIY Layout Creator'. When I run it on FC10 it is really slow, 7 seconds to render a new object. If I run it on Ubuntu, it works well. I have done some searching and it looks like it is a video driver problem in X windows. FC10 xorg-X11-server is at 1.5.3 where Ubuntu has 1.6.0. FC10 is a the most FC10 version. I tried to update my Xorg to an FC11 version but it fails to install due to dependencies. Other that upgrading to FC12, are there any other options to correct this bug?
I ve noticed that iceweasel (3.5.13) is slow in some java requiring websites: showcase: [URL] then add in the field location more than two locations (3=max i think). notice the slughiness if not the IW rash. Trying the same with epiphany (2.30.6) is (much) bettereventhough the cpu usage is also getting high System: Linux debian 2.6.32-5-686 #1 SMP Tue Oct 19 14:40:34 UTC 2010 i686 GNU/Linux at Gnome Desktop
I'm using Arch Linux with kernel 3.0 and brcmsmac to manage my wireless card. My desktop environment is KDE 4.7 and I use networkmanager to handle network. Recently I've been affected by a weird problem wherein whenever I'm connected to a network Java apps such as jEdit take ~30 seconds longer to start but behave normal once started. What could it be due to and how can I fix it?EDIT:The problem occurs both with Oracle's JRE and OpenJDK, both versions 1.7. I'm behind a HTTP proxy, if that makes a difference.EDIT:I've discovered the cause of this problem. My /etc/hosts file had the wrong host name in it. After correcting this to my hostnameeverything is fine.
i downloaded java then jdownloader and it work fine and today when i open ubuntu i didn't find how to open jdownloadercan any one tell me from where i can open jdownloader
I am trying to use "find" but I can't quite get all of the switches right for it to work. I have a folder that contains many folders. Let's call that original folder "MyFiles". The subfolders contain java files (and those subfolders possibly contain subfolders that contain java files). Here is what I want to have happen:
0. Create a file to print to, call it "output.ps" 1. Find all of the Java files in the MyFiles tree. 2. For each java file that is found, append it to output.ps along with it's absolute path name.
So far I have:
find . -iname *.java
and this finds all of the java files for me. But then I can't get the files to print to a file using exec.
like many other users, I am experiencing a small problem when using the Firefox extension Flashgot with the Java download manager JDownloader. Flashgot does not seem to be able to launch JDownloader automatically. I have already posted this in a thred on another forum, withouth results. I suspect that security issues are the reason why JDownloader cannot start.
I'm trying up upgrade my lab's ubuntu-based appserver to v10.04 from 9.04.
The problem is that the default lucid apt-get repositories do not contain the Sun's official distribution like Jaunty's does. Is there any way to get the official Java distribution on lucid (not sure how the others measure up) or is it just not officially supported?
downloaded the java .bin file from the website and made it excutable and ran in terminal... i got the 'done' message at the end of installation, so i restarted Firefox and verified if i had java. well, i got that message talking about missing plugins... i clicked it and click get missing plugins, It didn't find java on my computer!
to install But I am not able to find the Java EE components is there a another step that I should do get Enterprise components installed or is there a different command
When I used a java program to find all the fonts available on java. On MSW7 has more fonts available than on java on Linux. Why is that? Where can I get more java fonts? tia
here's the program:
Code: import java.awt.GraphicsEnvironment; public class ListJavaFonts { public static void main(String[] args)
I have an Internet connection with a Webstar cablemodem by Scientific-Atlanta Inc. DCP2100 series.I'm running an unstable distribution of Debian with the 2.6.32-5-amd64 kernel.I have installed JDownloader and works great, but I couldn't configure the reconnection features. What I need is a simple executable to run a script to change my IP adress, if possible. An specific tutorial could just be great for me to learn. And if you can't do this in linux as well as in XP, I'd really appreciate to inform me about it.
Is the OpenJDK web plugin the only option for java web plugins? I uninstalled it to run the Sun JDK Update 18, but now I can't find another web plugin.
I am trying to set up a minecraft server, but I have encountered problems. I have been using Ubuntu Server, but I can't get everything to work just right. I was wondering if I just needed to find a new distro that doesn't take up much resources and can run a java applet and sync with dropbox.( I already have code to sync that up).
I Love Jdownloader program but can't solve this old problem.
I'm still a little retard with GNU/Linux
Able to do a reconnect by running the following commands

This is the script I'm using.

It resembles this one in Window$
The program dhcpcd requires root user privileges.
Avahi daemon and network-manager widget should be disabled or uninstalled for this to work on Ubuntu.
Also I'm using Karmic.
I'm not Cisco certified. What I think it does, in a non technical comparison, is tell the ISP hardware that your ip should be 190.189.48.52 or whatever number you like.
For the ISP this would be the last lease you used.
The ISP hardware does not recognize this last lease in its list, so it assigns a new ip.
That does the trick and you get your new ip!
My ISP promotes the service with dynamic ip so no legal matters here.
The problem is how to automatize it.
Sudo runs the script with no privileges problems.
I am able to run it password-less by modifying sudoers file via visudo command.
I add the following line
Quote:
It can also be like (this would need extra security measures?)
Quote:
Then you can run sudo /usr/bin/cambiar-ip and it won't prompt you for a password.
Password issues solved, I cannot get Jdownloader to run it.
In the Settings > Reconnection tab
Tried to use "External" and "Batch" but i get reconnection failed sad face.
I've tried in "External" /usr/bin/sudo /usr/bin/cambiar-ip
It won't work.
I'm missing something of the Unix security structure.
I installed two programs recently, Vuze and JDownloader. Vuze seems to run perfectly fine and write to the /media/x directory. However JDownloader keeps saying "cannot write to location /media/x" or something like that. Only when i run it as sudo will it write to that location. So currently thats what I have done. But how do i make it so it runs without sudo and still can write to /media/x also, why is it that vuze has write permissions but jdownloader doesnt?
my jdownloader dosnt start after update. I use openSUSE 11.4Have yesterday chat with jdownloader support. Cant find the config file.I have to rename the config file in config.old
I need such a OS on a old system for mass downloading and experimenting downstairs. Also I would prefer if it doesn't require too much Linux know-how and is operable by my Windows 7 system via networking. It doesn't need to be compatible with TrueCrypt or JDownloader specifically if alternative software for it exists.
Code: Select all import java.util.*; public class FindDupes { public static void main(String[] args) { Set<String> orig = new HashSet<String>(); Set<String> dupe = new HashSet<String>(); for(String a: args) if(!orig.add(a)) dupe.add(a);
for some reason it will compile but not run on debian lenny complains it can't find the main class but it compiles and runs without problem on Fedora 12.
How do I check my hard disk Revolutions Per Minute (RPM) speed from a Linux shell prompt without opening my server case?
I referenced some other articles. they give only model number, serial number and disk space, but I need Hard disk RPM speed using shell script. any other Java program
Well I updated from 9.04 to 10.04 and Vuze does not open for me anymore when I click it. Is there anything that got thrown out that I need to install to get it back going for me?
how to get Vuz installed properly and running, however I would like to make it start the gui interface automatically on login/startup and minimized. I tried adding it to the SYSTEM->PREFERENCES->STARTUP APPLICATIONS as that seemed the obvious way to do it, however it does not startup automatically after I restart the system.
I am running: Ubuntu 10.04 LTS Java 1.6.0_18 Sun Microsystems Inc. SWT v3555, gtk Linux v2.6.32-23-generic, i386 Vuze V4.3.0.6/4 az3
i was using ubuntu 10.10 and vuze as the default bit-torrent client. I upgraded to natty alpha 3 a couple of days ago and after that vuze doesn't even launch...i don't see any errors, when you click on the icon absolutely nothing happens. I tried removing vuze and then installing it again,
