Dec 30, 2010I have a very big problem here. First a little background information. I tried searching this forum but didn't find anyone with similar situation.
I have installed Ubuntu and it's variations many, many times on different computers, and once in my current desktop PC. Right now I am in a situation where I want to install Ubuntu 10.04.01 (or any version, really) but I cannot.
I have tried to install both 32-bit and 64-bit versions, I have tried Ubuntu 10.04.1 and 10.10, I have tried to install with Wubi (currently running Windows 7 64bit), I have tried to burn the images to CD and created an USB installer, nothing works, it's always the same. Installer starts, I put in "Install Ubuntu", and the screen goes blank. Nothing but a white little cursor blinking in upper left corner of screen. And I cannot type in anything.
Previously I had Ubuntu 10.04 installed with Wubi, and it worked. Right now, nothing works. Anything helpful appreciated. I can provide some system info if needed.

Apr 10, 2010I just installed Fedora 12 VM using Virtualbox. The next thing I want to do is install the guest addons.So I mount the drive and go the the folder and I use the command:

Feb 10, 2010I recently installed Deluge 1.2.0 from the following PPA:[URL]I using this on two different Linux computers. One is running Linux Mint 8 and the other is running Ubuntu Netbook Remix 9.10. The first time on either computer when I enable WebUI in the Deluge GUI it works fine. However if I ever disable it in plugins section I am subsequently unable to re-enable it (doesn't appear in the side panel again). Rebooting or reinstalling Deluge seems to have no effect.Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?

May 25, 2009I am having intelG33 motherboard with hda soundcard realtex alc888 supporting 5.1 surround system. Using opensuse 11. I have successfully installed alsa drivers. But iam not able to get sound from surround and center speakers. Only able to get from front speakers.
When i used alsamixer. it shows me master and capture volume controls only.
Before alsa, I tried default sound configuration in my opensuse but didnt able to get surround even when I increased volume control for surround speakers to maximum.
Please help me... why im not able to get it working?
I am new to linux and getting used to it

Nov 2, 2010After upgrading to 10.10, I have been unable to use the software center to install. Every time I click 'install', the install progress bar just hangs, reading 'Waiting for apt-get to exit'. The same thing happens when attempting to install upgrades via Update Manager.
I can however update via Synaptic and using 'apt-get upgrade' in the terminal.

Jun 16, 2010I have Adblock and a bunch of other add-ons installed on Firefox. When I boot up and then start Firefox- the addon icons appear in/on Firefox's tool bar.
IF....I close Firefox and start it again the addon icons aren't on the tool bar or, like Ghostery, at the bottom of the screen...I think it's called the status bar.

Saved and closed the file. I went back to the terminal and opened the nsswitch.conf file by entering:

The reason being is that orbit allowed multiple http connections at once, making for much faster downloads, much more efficient on system resources that browser addons. Important things to note. You will have to export the certificate from the site, you can use firefox to do that. The '-r' parameter requires the *actual* name of the realm you want to authenticate against.
You will also have to run firefox, go to the network connect site, click the button and let it install first. If it doesn't *make sure* that you have ALL adblock addons disabled.

Feb 9, 2010I have recently switched from Banshee to Songbird, and am loving it. Especially now that there is a ppa for it, which I just discovered. However, i have tried to download an addon and a theme, and apparently it just told me to restart after installing, but it doesn't show up when I go to View>Feathers. It just shows the default theme, Gonzo. Has anyone had this problem, or knows how to fix it?
