View 3 RepliesFor the last few releases, I've remained with Amarok 1.4, but now that I've deemed Amarok 2 stable enough, I've upgrade, however, the lyrics to my songs (which I put in a lot of effort in downloading), are not reflecting. Is there anyway to export lyrics from Amarok 1.4 and import them in Amarok 2?
View 1 Replies View RelatedAt the logon prompt, after logging on, Slackware always gives me some sort of little humorous saying, of no particular consequence and is of no value except some entertainment. Today, upon logging on I got this message upon logging on:
Dsk crisis, please clean up
What is the significance of this? If a fun thing, then explain the joke, or if a real system type of message, what is it talking about? I presume if it is a real system type message, and I do nothing, then I will get it the next time I log on also, but you never know. I am inclined to think it is just a joke I don't understand.
I need to know the necessity of swap partition in Ubuntu.. I have recently bought a new HD and installed Ubuntu(with NO swap, only Ubuntu on a single partition) on it and am facing frequent, random hanging issues with it.. Earlier,my old HD used an swap partition along with main partition and i never faced hanging issues at that time..
Actually, when in hanging mode, the cpu light keeps blinking continuously and the mouse movement is very slow, the screen also becomes dim. After sometime,it comes out of hanging mode and mouse movement becomes normal.Sometimes, even after waiting for 15-20 minutes,it does not come out of hanging mode and the system has to be restarted.(this is what forced me to look for a possible solution to this)
I think this goes here, but I'm not sure. I decided that XAMPP had been troublesome enough. MySQL never worked. So I decided to instal the LAMP stack offered by YaST. I went about installing it thinking that it would all work. But it seems that I was wrong. So I try to start mysql, and here's what I get:
Code:
the-matrix:~ # mysql start

I installed Fedora 12 i386 on my system, and I am using the Gnome Desktop. I used a terminal and installed Amarok via yum install amarok and got it to install; however when I try to load the darn thing it doesn't load at all, what could be the problem and how can I fix this?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI have installed Mysql in Ubuntu 9, for the use of roundcube database. After installing iam getting the error like this
* Stopping MySQL database server mysqld [ OK ]
* Starting MySQL database server mysqld [ OK ]
* Checking for corrupt, not cleanly closed and upgrade needing tables.
So because of this in the roundcube configuration its giving the error message that MYSQL is not installed. So Kindly give me a idea how to solve this.

I was having issues with MySQL Server and uninstalled it. I still have my databases at /lib/var/mysql.
My question: if I install MySQL Server (same version, 5.1) again, will it delete my databases, or will they still work?
How can I really, really remove everything related to mysql / mysql-server. I read and tried all kinds of things, but on every reinstall there is still old mysql stuff there, for example an existing password. Even resetting the password does not help.
Reason of removal: it looks like the mysql setup is really corrupt, so I want to remove, and then do a fresh install. Running Ubuntu 11.04 64-bit
sander@R540:~$ sudo apt-get purge mysql-server

I'm having problems connecting to the mysql database on my system. I first noticed this when I was trying to set up the program anymeal. I subsequently tried using MySQL Administrator (mysql-admin), but had no luck. It gives my the following feedback:
Code:
Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (2)
Click the 'Ping' button to see if there is a networking problem. I press the ping button, and it seems to connect.

I've downloaded and installed MySQL-client-5.1.53-1.glibc23.x86_64.rpm. I'm rather new to linux so it might be I haven't started the server. Unfortunately I have no idea which file is responsible for that. It is also possible that my head isn't functioning correctly ( if at all ).
Error I receive is:
ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)
How do I create a new mysql user and a mysql database at the shell prompt?

I've been attempting to set up a LAMP for local web development, which meant installing mysql-server. But now have a problem when trying to run mysql, I get:-
ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)
When trying to downgrade mysql-server I saw that there are dependency problems between the various modules (but can't recall which). But whichever route I truied the results are always the same.
Thought about trying XAMPP but I note that even has it's problems, is there any way I can get a lamp set up on FC14, or must I give it up as a bad job.
Howver, just been trying to again to fix the problems with downgrading mysql and get:-
Error: Package: mysql-server-5.1.55-1.fc14.i686 (@updates)
Requires: mysql(x86-32) = 5.1.55-1.fc14
Removing: mysql-5.1.55-1.fc14.i686 (@updates)

Code:

I have MySQL 5.1.34 and PHP 5.1.6 installed on my system, how do I install php-mysql? Each time I try, it says

I thought that the problem is in the phpMyAdmin not in the mysql. But now i think different. It seems that the problem is right in the mysql. I think that there was no root user, when mysql was freshly installed. Unfortunately i did everything i can find on internet (some tutorials) but they don`t helped me at all, maybe i fu**ed up the mysql service. So i reinstalled it, and when i want to start it there is no file mysql.sock and i get the following:
linux-nepg:~ # service mysql restart
Restarting service MySQL
Shutting down service MySQL done
Starting service MySQL warning: /var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock didn't appear within 30 seconds
I can't get mysql to update from lenny (mysql-5.0) to squeeze (5.1). apt tries to start the server but comes up with some kind of configuration script error.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI installed mediawiki the other day and went with the default innodb option. However a week later something went wrong. And since I have scripts that nightly backup /var/ I just copied the backup of /var/lib/mysql/wikidb/ (as I've done with MyISAM). Then when I connect the wikidb database. I can see the tables (via "show tables"), but when I do any query with them (check table X, select * from X) I get:
Code:
Table 'wikidb.X' doesn't exist I've since read that can can't just copy the database directory like MyISAM, and there appears to be no way that I can find to restore or fix Innodb, without a dump of the data. And I never got a chance to do a mysqldump of the data. So has anybody got any idea how I can at least view the "page" table from the files I've backed up in /var/lib/mysql/wikidb/ ?
I just configured a complete Cent OS 5.2 system for use as a web server. I can configure Apache and PHP but MySQl seems to be causing some issues -
