Ubuntu :: Shutter's Web Capture Is Not Working?
Jun 2, 2011
I have been trying to use the web capture feature by Shutter. But, it always throws the same error message.
Code:
Error while taking the screenshot.
Unable to capture website
Usage: gnome-web-photo [--mode=photo|thumbnail|print]

My screen capture software, shutter and system's default "take screenshot", do not function normal any more. It can only capture the desktop wallpaper, not any other elements on the desktop, nor any other opened windows. It's just like taking an x-ray picture by passing all the other objects/elements/running programs on top of the desktop wallpaper. Any ideas? I am using Fedora 14 64 bit. The screen capture software were working fine, though.

I was happily using Shutter in 9.10 with no problems, but since upgrading to 10.04 there's been a problem with the default save path - every time shutter is restarted, it moves down one notch. If the original save path was /home/vacri/pictures/image-manip, the next time it is /home/vacri/pictures, then /home/vacri, all the way down to just /
Which, of course, it can't write to. Either way, it's not saving screenshots where I want them.
A friend running Mint that's also based on ubuntu 10.04 is having the same issue.

I used to be a documenter for my company as training center that focusing on OSS solution. As a documenter I used VirtualBOX for my simulation, but normally I have to use Ubuntu because of the Shutter.
Can we install shutter in openSuSE 11.2?
Because I keep searching on how to install this snapshot screen in the openSuSE but it's seem that openSuSE can't support this apps?

I'm running Xubuntu 10.10 on an ASUS Eee 1215T; the sound hardware on the system is a Realtek ALC259, and there's also sound output through HDMI with an ATI RS690/780 HDMI chip (both according to alsamixer). I was recently fiddling with the sound settings to try to get sound output through the HDMI port. I was successful in that, but I can no longer record sound using the built-in microphone. I'm pretty sure this is something I messed up, since sound recording worked correctly when I first installed Xubuntu, but I'm not sure what I need to do to fix it. I've tried all the promising-looking settings in gnome-volume-control and xfce4-mixer to no avail, and alsamixer also shows everything, both playback and capture, at 100% volume and un-muted; alsamixer also shows that the capture is turned on. I only used these tools (gnome-volume-control, xfce4-mixer, and alsamixer) to get the HDMI output working.

I'm trying to get skype going in Fedora 12 KDE x86_64 (fully updated). I did some testing with and without the pulseaudio server installed. With the pulseaudio, I didn't manage at all. I know I got it working before _without_ pulseaudio, but after a yum update the pulseaudio got reinstalled and the mic stopped working. Now I traced this problem down to what I think is wrong: I have a HDA Intel sound card, but 'cat /proc/asound/devices', doesn't show me any analog capture input at all:
cat /proc/asound/devices
2: : timer
3: : sequencer

Is there any way to get libmp3lame to work with ffmpeg without me having to completely recompile ffmpeg? I have managed to get video capture working (huffyuv didn't work for some reason) and this is my command:ffmpeg -f alsa -ac 2 -i hw:0,0 -f x11grab -r 25 -s hd1080 -i :0.0 -vcodec libx264 -vpre lossless_ultrafast -threads 0 -vf 'scale=-1:720' -sameq out.avi
There are so many answers and questions all over the place I can't even tell which package is actually causing the problem... (libmp3lame0? ffmpeg? libavcodec*?)

I'm using openSUSE 11.2 KDE on a Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo Pi 1536 laptop. My problem is that my microphone (I'm attempting to use a 3.5mm headset) doesn't work. Audio playback however does work through the built-in speakers and headphones.
I have gone through the SDB:AudioTroubleshooting - openSUSE as suggested by oldcpu on the Welcome to multimedia sub-area sticky.
I have tested audio recording with
Code:
arecord -vv -fdat foo.wav resulting in a silent recording. The vumeter showed 0% during the recording.
Here is my url produced by the alsa-info script:[URL]
rpm -qa '*alsa*'
Code:
alsa-plugins-1.0.21-3.3.i586
alsa-1.0.21-3.2.i586
alsa-oss-1.0.17-25.2.i586

I'm logging into a remote Ubuntu box from my Mac via NX, and almost everything works great. However, I can't find any way to capture the alt-tab keyboard combination (or, command-tab) for app switching. All the individual keys register with ubuntu, but when pressed together, Mac OS captures it first. Is there any way to fix this?

I currently own an easyCAP, standard definition capture device. I'm looking into purchasing a HD capture device, but the only one which says it supports Linux in the spec is the Blackmagic Intensity Pro (PCi Card). Here is a list of the ones which I'm looking into possibly getting, but I'd like to know if I can use it to record (my Xbox 360) on Ubuntu (Studio) 10.04 Lucid Lynx, and how hard it would be to set it up.
Blackmagic Intensity Pro
Hauppauge HD PVR
AVerTV HD DVR
Blitzbox HD
Also, if you know of any other decent HD capture devices, comment and let me know

I have created several DVDs from my camcorder (sony handycam DCR-HC21 NTSC); however, the recordings are too long. I would like to capture smaller segments of these and load them online to share with family and friends.I would like to know what is the most recommended software for this task. I am running Ubuntu 9.10.I would have done this by using a firewire cable directly attached from the camcorder to my laptop, but my laptop has only USB ports. So I ended up creating DVDs using an stand alone Video Recordable DVD Drive.

Running 10.4 Luci RC 64-bit desktop and when attempting to run Applications > Sound & video > Sound recorder, I receive the following error message:
Quote:
Your audio capture settings are invalid. Please correct them with the "Sound Preferences" under the System-Preferences menu. When I do go to System > Preferences > Input, there is only 1 device - "Internal Audio Analog Stereo" with no options for modification. My laptop does have an internal microphone but it apparently isn't working as nothing was recorded when I ran a Skype test call. This is the reason why I attempted to record something to check the mic.

How do I capture video from my JVC GR-DF470 MiniDV camera into 10.04 Lucid.PiViTi looks good for an editing app, and I've installed OpenShot as well, but neither have a way of capturing the video from a camera. I used Kino previously in 8.04 Hardy, but it was buggy at best in 9.10 Karmic; I've just installed it in 10.04, but capture keeps stopping after 2 or 3 seconds. I also tried kdenlive, but the audio capture has a lot of 'noise' that is louder than the voices on the tape, and once it finishes capturing video, it doesn't display a 'Save' dialogue as it is supposed to - so that wasn't very successful either. So what can I use to capture video from a MiniDV Camera via Firewire.

if I'm posting to the wrong forum. Be so kind to tell me where to better ask this question, as I'm really not finding the right words to google for.So, I have a shell application (fdb) which is a Flash debugger. I want to run it using bash script, capture it's output and pass it the commands (it can read from STDIN). The reason I want to do so is that Flash Builder (the IDE for Flash development) is plain stupid when it comes to compilation, and it won't allow me to compile any file in the project... so, I found out that I can make Eclipse to run an external tool. This external tool is my *.sh file whichches the compiler, and then it launches the debugger. The Eclipse console can display the compilation results, or errors. When I run the debugger it can even pass the input from Eclipse console to the debugger, however, the output from the debugger isn't shown.

I want to capture the video from my sat box using an extra laptop I have and then distribute a live feed on my network so that I can watch tv on my laptop around the house. I want to use an old Dell X300 with a broken screen. It's not too powerful with a 1.2GHz Pentium M and 640MB ram. I was thinking of throwing Zubuntu or something lighter weight on it. I'll use a usb capture card that will support S-video. I am sure there are plenty of those that will be compatible with Linux. What I need to know is what capture software should I use?
Is there any capture software that will transmit over a network as a live feed? Is my laptop even powerful enough to do what I'm asking? This thing had no problem playing back 480p but capturing, encoding, and distributing over a network is another story. Are there any usb capture cards that use hardware encoding? Would installing a lighter weight distro be necessary in order to gt laptop performance boost it needs to handle what I want to do? And what of software to receive the stream? VLC should have no trouble connecting to the stream right? How about SMPlayer?
