I am trying to set up a signalink-USB interface with the soundmodem program, to work as a software TNC. So far, no luck. Has anyone actually got this working?
The essential problem seems to be that soundmodem is an OSS program, and won't work directly with pulseaudio. The soundmodem program must be run as sudo, and padsp does not work. Thus:
I'm an amateur radio [ham radio] operator. I prefer to do everything in ubuntu and hate having to boot in to windows for anything. Sadly, there is but one thing radio related I can't do in ubuntu: packet/pactor radio. I have installed fbb BUT don't know exactly how to configure it ... if I give it my best guess, I inevitably screw it up [as evident in it won't launch and gives errors relating to the config file]. So I turned to trying linAMC. I can't launch the message processor options NOR can I initiate a call [start forward session].
Soundmodem has been part of the Hamradio package for quite some time. Is it still available? I attempted to install it from YaST but only found 1 unrelated software package listed under the Hamradio group.
I am wondering if any in the Ubuntu community owns a Carmen Car Radio player by Livio Radio. The program to save internet radio to the device is written in Java, however I am not able to run it either using WINE or using Open JDK.
The Carmen Player does work well with Banshee, it is the internet radio that is not working.
I have a new install of Karmic on my system with a flyvideo 3000 tv card installed. My problem is that it doesn't find any radio channels and the input channel is completely wrong. I don't have any sound on gnomeradio and can't find the config files to change the input channel. The only input option available to me is dig1 - can anyone point me in the right direction?
I have already read the Howto for this tv card and changed the device to radio0 in the setup. I have setup tvtime perfectly with sound channel as well as with a 5.1 surround configuration. I am missing my favourite radio channel. and I want to get rid of my windows installations once and for all! Update: I did a system update and some things have changed: the radio tower graphic on gnomeradio is now green (I assume it is getting a signal) but no sound yet.
I am the new user to ns-2. I would like to know is it possible to send the keys or some value as the packet data (content of the packet) in ns-2 (for wireless environment).
record my radio show from a radio I have plugged into my iMac. That's right. For now, I am dual booting on my iMac until I can afford to buy a dedicated PC desktop just for Ubuntu.
I can't believe that there seems to be no way for me to record my shows from my radio. Works fine when I boot into the Mac side and even when I use Ubuntu using VMware Fusion. When I boot into Ubuntu directly, Audio In in the Sound preferences doesn't seem to work. No audio coming through when I try to record from the radio.
I got a problem with my CentOS server. Somebody told me OpenVPN Requires different changes inside my firewall settings. That could be the problem why openvpn wont load..I receive this error on my CentOS panel when im trying to connect into the centos openvpn (with my winxp pc):
My brother gave me his desktop so that I could use it for a headless server. I'm controlling via ssh/vnc. It has a TV/FM radio tuner in it, and I was wondering, could I stream FM radio or TV with it? I have it all setup with LAMP, so I just need to find out if the card works and how to stream using both flash and traditional audio formats. When I tried to use xawtv the server disconnected VNC and ssh and wouldn't let me log on. It did shutdown normal after I pushed the power button. I Here's the output from lshw code....
I went on radio's web site to listen to it when i hit the link to listen to i get an error saying i don't have the required plugin and an option to search. I searched and i got this message
I am just a newbie here and I'm just starting to learn ubuntu, so be easy to me. So my question is how do I play this radio on my Ubuntu. Here's the links: [URL]
I'm trying to get my mom to switch to ubuntu, and she needs this one radio stream to work. For the life of me, I can't get this radio stream to play on any player. here's the web address to it, and the mms address:
[URL]
It's proprietary to windows which sucks, but I've followed a lot of forums where asx streams work. This one just doesn't
I'm on 11.04. I've tried VLC, Banshee, Rhythmbox, xine, gstreamer, etc.
I have an account to log into Coasttocoastam Site and listen to the streaming audio. On windows it plays with either Windows Media Player OR Real Player. I've always just used Windows media player. Now that I'm installed Ubuntu 10.04 when I go the site. Of course I click it to copy what it's doing and XINE is displaying and I see it's buffering and then starts to play.
I have an old, 8 gig hard drive that still works. I think it has a distro of some linux on it. The only working computer I have is my old 1.2 gig(IWILL) with one GIG of P-133 ram. I have WIN 2k Pro installed on the 37 gig hard drive. When I hook the 8 gig up as a "slave", input the data into the BIOS, the computer doesn't recognize the "D" (8 gig) drive. Now, I'd like to get the computer to "see" the "D" drive and to figure out a way to download the latest Ubuntu version on to the drive. It's not necessary to dual-boot the drive, as I would only hook up the WIN drive and take the Linux drive out.
Now, I'm not the brightest crayola in the box. I'd like to be able to figure out a way to access my M$ Excel spreadsheets, I use for frequency databases (for Part 90 frequencies) during severe weather outbreaks. Can some, kind, understanding person help me with this? It seems with the mental gaps, my understander (comprehension) is not working.I can read something and not understand what is written. I'm not asking for pity, just understanding in my challenge.
How does a person determine the URL of the audio stream for a Live365 broadcast in order to create a new radio station entry in Rhythmbox? I would like to be able to access and listen to the audio stream completely from within Rhythmbox.
I've recently purchased HP Mini 210 (about a few months ago) which has wireless accessibility. Unfortunately, internet is not easily accessible from where I live unless you have a home connection (which is quite expensive) or you connect to a Cyber Cafe (not really convenient). I've checked some really good tools like FM Radio and Rhythmbox which require internet in order to stream radio stations directly.I'm quite fond of FM Radio, though recently an old radio broke down and I thought a netbook could help (although I admit I bought the netbook for writing scripts and stories solely). Although it's funny that an old technology can do what's it's meant to do, while a newer one (PC's) depend on internet alone.
What I was wondering is that since HP Mini 210 has a wireless access capability isn't it capable of catching FM Radio waves like an old radio without depending on internet connectivity? If it is capable of it, how do I do that?
I have a Bandluxe C120 HSDPA modem. I used to work with it with previous ubuntu versions. First I goto windows and set the radio tab to 3G only using that managing software(which only works for windows) and then to reboot with Ubuntu and work with the modem. If there is no 3G coverage modem get disconnected because it was set to 3G only mode. But with new ubuntu 10.04 when 3G signal get week the modem change to 3G first else GPRS mode. After that because 3G signal is week in my area it never catch up with HSDPA. So I need to reboot with windows and set radio mode to 3G again. So what I need is a way to set that 3G only with in Ubuntu. Is there a way??
this media player is not playing [URL]I have played other internet radio and tv stations through vlc but this one doesn't seem like i am supposed to play it through vlc?
Im wondering if theres an Itunes alternative for Ubuntu? Basicly in windows i only used Itunes to listen to its Radio function which has hundreds of channels i can listen too depending on which genre i choose id love it if theres an alternative or a way to make Itunes work in Ubuntu 10.04 X64 bit.
I'm having an issue with rhythmbox in Lucid. I can add and play new radio stations fine. However, upon closing rhythmbox and reopening the radio station disappears from the list. Is there a way to get the stations I add to stay?
Anyone know how I can play a .wax radio station on ubuntu. The link I have is:URL...I don't think this is possible based on some research but find it hard to believe and do not understand why.
Dear community, I am using the version 10.04 LTS of Ubuntu. I want to listen to an internet radio station, which I can listen without a problem in Windows. However, in Ubuntu nothing happens when I click the link. The URL of the radio station is [URL]. The link which starts the streaming has the words "RADIO EN VIVO".
I was playing around with Screenlets and would like to use the radio. I can't seem to get it to play any of the default radio stations, also when I add a custom web site I get nothing. The web site I added plays fine with Mplayer, but does not work with the Screenlets radio. I have also edited the Menu.xml for screenlets radio and added the web site I would like to listen to, but nothing. I have also downloaded he restricted extras
