Fedora Servers :: Cgi Perl Script On Apache Server Have Only Partial Success
Jul 9, 2009I'm running an Apache web server version 2.2.11 on Fedora 10. I'm trying to get it to run a PERL cgi script but with only partial success. The script uses the PERL cgi package.
The perl script is a simple test case that creates a form to fill in. Once the submit button has been clicked it should then return the data submitted. The perl script writes this to a file called output.cgi
The intial script located in /var/www/cgi-bin/index.cgi gets executed fine when I go to [URL], this works with no probs. However once I hit the button to submit the data I then get the error
Not Found
The requested URL /cgi-bin/output.cgi was not found on this server. Apache/2.2.11 (Fedora) Server at localhost Port 80 Im not sure if its a perl problem or server setup problem, theres probably a simple switch or something but Im out of ideas at the moment.

Jan 18, 2010Very new to Ubuntu (linux) in general and read various forum and threads to get .pl file to run on a new Ubuntu 9.10.My cgi-bin is in /var/www/site/cgi-bin. The server will run 2 websites site1 and site 2. Site2 is html only and site1 has some cgi and pl files. Everytime i get to the cgi-bin/other_director the browser tries download the file or even if going directly to index.pl. Ubuntu :: Switch Back To /usr/bin/perl After Installing Second Perl?
Aug 14, 2010I recently reinstalled the B module for perl. Now I found out it didn't just do that, it installed a whole new copy of perl into /usr/local/bin/perl. When I type 'which perl' at the terminal, it says '/usr/local/bin/perl' instead of '/usr/bin/perl'. Normally, this wouldn't bother me. But I installed the one in local/bin without threading support. The one that comes with the system already is build with threading support, which is why I want to switch back to the system perl, and possibly remove the one in /usr/local/bin.
So how do I change it so that the result of 'which perl' returns as '/usr/bin/perl'? And what do I have to do to remove /usr/local/bin/perl?
The reason I need threading support is because I'm designing a file copier that copies several chunks of a file simultaneously to speed up the copying process. Guaranteed a useful script if it works.

Jan 4, 2010I'd like to install an IRC server on my website (it's hosted on another server location).I can log into the server side of things but am not sure how much control I have of installing applications. I'd like an IRC that's easy to install and easy to set-up. I logged into the cPanel page of the site and found this "general server information":

Ubuntu Servers :: Install 10.04 LTS Server With All The Defaults?
Jun 14, 2010So when I install 10.04 LTS server with all the defaults. ie root parted with lvm, I get a grub error. Apparently the install script at the end of the installation does not take into account that I might install ubuntu on a different drive.
Without LVM, I can get it to work. If I drop down to shell and mount the root drive, then run:
grub-install --root-directory=/ /dev/sdc And all is good. But I want LVM on my boot drive. Does anybody out there know of an easy way of doing this? This really should be a bug. But I'm too much a noob to know where to issue this.

Jul 20, 2010Attempting to install 10.04 Server on an IBM Series X 232 server. Its an old server with dual p III's, 4 small drives and an adaptec controller with a RAID 5 array. The server is currently running CentOS 5.5.
The CD I am installing from is known good. I verified it after I wrote it and verified it again during the install process. The system boots from the CD, I accept the defaults, then it fails at "adding additional components".

Dec 27, 2010im totally rubbish at command line. I have a small business server for home use, thats where i work from. I have Windows Small Business Server but a lot of the time its crap and am trying Linux. I have Ubuntu 10.10 installed on a desktop and while im new to it im very impressed. I also have a MAC and i must say id rather have Ubuntu.
Now i want to use Linux Server but its all command line and i want the GUI. Iv tried to do this on Ubuntu Server 9.04 and no sucess at all , iv followed the instructions from other posts, (1) sudo apt-get update, (2) sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop and nothing works. Is there a way to install the GUI or is there a Linux Server with the GUI pre-installed?

Jul 7, 2011I installed Server 11.04 and selected the options for the print server and file server. I would like to add a HP Officejet J3680 printer (USB connection) but cannot figure out how. On a remote computer running Ubuntu 11.04 desktop, I tried using the CUPS web interfce but I keep getting the "Unable to connect" message. I installed webmin on the same remote computer and tried installing it that way. That way, I selected "USB Printer 1" and used "generic postscript driver" This did not work. I do not know how to install a printer. I'll use command line on the server if necessary. How is this done?

What I did so far:
Installed imedia linux PCengines Alix build [URL] on an other Ubuntu machine with usb cf interface. This worked but I don't know how I can install Ubuntu from imedia linux.
Installed Ubuntu Server on the same Ubuntu machine. Installed the 386 kernel and changed the grub config file to enable the serial output to a terminal and updated grub[URL]. I created the file /etc/init/ttyS0.conf that the serial interface still works after the bootloader [URL].Unfortunately the alix board writes only "GRUB loading." and some empty lines.
Tried to boot with Tftpd32.exe by Ph. Jounin following this guide: [URL] So I set up a TFPT server following this german wiki: [URL]As advised changed /etc/inetd.conf and /etc/default/tftpd-hpa, prepared the boot image and the DHCP server. This should be enough on the server. I have to write N over the serial port to the board while it performs memory test to enable PXE boot. This was partly successful: it gets an IP adress but afterwards nothing happens. I can't find any error message in the syslog.
I attached my configuration files. As boot image I used [URL] and used the following commands to bring it into the right place:
