Everything was installed with defaults and working properly. testphp.php worked as long as it was in the sites parent directory, but any php files in user directories did not work. All browsers tried to download the php files located in /home/user/public_html instead. I tried to use the help documents here, [URL]..
Finally I was browsing around in the /etc/apache2/mods-available directory and looked at the php5.conf file. Here is the relevant information from the file:

I am currently new to all of this and not even sure if I am in the right place.But I am currently running a server with OpenSSH.When you go to my site's homepage, I have a link that redirects you to my files that I will be sharing.They are currently access denied as I do not want the public to be able to download.My question is how would I go about having a login box to pop up when they clink on the link on my homepage to access the files folder.Currently I have accounts set up and it works when going through Filezilla with SFTP but I'm not sure how to give access to use via a web browser

After restarting the proftpd server and applying the configuration, I try downloading a file in IE browser. Sometimes, it prompts a saveas dialog, and everything was okay.
However, it occasionally prompts a login form instead of a SaveAs dialog. This makes our customers confused greatly.
So, how could I prevent browser from prompting login form when anonymous users try to download files from our ftp server?

How can i make wget to download from the site i want but ignore the filenames listed in the text file?
I had set two 700MB links for download in firefox 3.6.3 by browser itself. Both of them hung at 84%.I trust wget so much.Here the problem is : when we click on download button in firefox then it says save file & when download has begun then i can right click in downloads window & select copy download link to find that link was Kum.DvDRip.aviif i knew that earlier like in case of hotfile server there is no script associated with download button just it points to avi URL so I can copy it easily. read 'wget --load-cookies cookies_file -i URL -o log'I have free account (NOT premium) on sharing server so all I get is html page .

If I download it and run it on my desktop with mplayer it run the full video. I am not sure why? Here is a link to the video. [URL]. I'm using Ubuntu Server (32bit) on a machine at home. I've bought a domain name(s) via Heartinternet.co.uk and my ISP is Bethere.co.uk I have installed my LAMP Server on my home based server and it's accessible via my static IP address. HTTP is forwarded on my router to my Ubuntu (web)Server. Now then, in laymen's terms, I want my domain name to resolve to my Ubuntu Server. I have installed and configured Bind9 to this guide found online: http://goo.gl/M3Pk i understand that I need to do this in order to 'host' the domain name. Or alternatively, if my presumptions are correct, I could leave the domain name with the registrar and use their DNS config panel to add an A record to point at my webserver (static IP address)???
If I forward port 53 (default for DNS) to my server (after setting up bind9 correctly) and within my domain name hosting options change the nameserver settings to point at my static ip address then would this be enough to host my domain from my home network?

I have a problem regarding the ubuntu enterprise cloud. I have installed CC,CLC,SC,NC and a client and logged into thje user interface using my browser for the first time with bith username and passwd as admin and downloaded the credentials.But now as I try to login with the same username and passwd, it says that its an invalid login. I understand we have to change the password on the first login but i don't remember doing the same.

I like the server login information that gets displayed when you login to a 10.04 server. It lists disk usage, CPU usage, Temperature etc...
Unfortunately I had problems installing 10.04 from a USB. At the end of the process the master boot record was stored on the USB and not the hard disk.
But now when I login to my server I don't get the server information.
If any of you have successfully created a video hosting server with Fedora, can you give me any ideas of what software to get and how to configure it and so on? Or, if you have been unsuccessful, can you tell me what doen't work?

When I set /var/www to 777, users can access the files through a browser but then ssh passwordless login doesn't work. Anyway around this, so both will work?

In fact I "cannot live without", specially if I am working on jobs and I have to work with a lot of files in different directories. Opening lots of folders and endless clicking is really not an option to me. Does anyone know if there is such an applet or possibility in Unity (because gnome 2 applets will not work in Natty)?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI set up an Ubuntu server install yesterday. I have used Ubuntu desktop for quite some time and have no issue with command line. I have everything working, except SMB shares. The share still works if I enter it's path manually (//server/share) but even shares I want to be viewable by browsing are not. (Attempted to browse in Nautilus, Windows and Mac file managers.) Server is running 10.10 (AMD64). Dump of smb.conf (generated with SWAT, which also works otherwise) follows. Solution with either SWAT or editing the file manually is fine.
