I have a nice little interface that generates an exim config file and a script on the server to check for changes. Unfort I cant find where to set the config file location.
E.G. I have my script generate the file to /etc/exim/exim4.conf (could be /usr/share/foo/bar.conf just as easily)
How can I point exim in the direction of that file?
where are the "System Log Viewer" config files stored? I know most have been moved into /var/rsyslog.d/ folder but where are the users config file stored? I restored my local /home to a fresh install and the Log viewer is looking for log files from the OLD install.
So there must be a config file somewhere in /home/$user that the system log viewer is reading from as well as the rsyslog.d folder...
For security reasons I need to ensure all of my users screensaver is set to come on after 10 minutes of inactivity. My thought was to find the screensaver config file, modify a setting in the file to 10 minutes and change ownership of the file to be root (so the user can't undo my changes either in the file or via the gui). However, I can't find the screensaver config file to do this. I'm running Centos 5.2. Anyone know where I can find the screensaver config file?

It seems like X is having a hard time displaying whatever theme I chose.I want to manually switch back to Albatross but I am unsure of where that setting is stored. Exim: Is there away to block command when someone telnets to exim's port? Email won't send out unless they authenticate, but if there a way to total block them from typing all together, but still allow the server to receive email? IE, to block this:

I've setup Exim4 as an MTA on my VM which has a static IP. I've pointed the MX records both idential to this static IP. I can send out via command line on the VM using Exim commands and receive the mail in my home account no problem, it also displays the correct from address ie rich@mydomain.co.uk
So I'm not sure what's going on with receiving the mail. If I send a mail from my home email to rich@mydomain.co.uk (not real address), I don't get a bounce or anything, it just goes out never to be seen again.
I'm building a new file/media server for my household to use, and would like to hear the experiences of others, and suggestions, or links to appropriate howto's. I'll be using two (2) 250 GB Western Digital RE4 drives mirrored via mdadm RAID 1 for the Operating System. The storage area will be handled by four (4) 500 GB Western Digital RE4 drives in a RAID 5 array, managed by an Areca 1210 controller.
What I'd like to configure is a basic Samba file server, on which we have individual user folders, and a shared drive. As well, I'd like to add the ability to manage our movie collection so it can be accessed by the Boxee Box attached to the television. Twonky looks promising (and I don't mind paying the $19.95 for something that works well). However, as this is new to me, there may be other solutions out there that are better, and easier to administer. Moving forward, I'd like to explore the feasibility of configuring LDAP on this machine to authenticate users on the network (perhaps even integrate the mail server somehow), and the remote users (only two) who VPN into the network using the pfSense firewall appliance. There are no Windows servers, so Active Directory is not a factor.
I have a computer running Fedora 11. I wanted to use samba in my office. So I configured the /etc/samba/smb.conf ,but it did not work well : Windows can find samba,but when I tap in username and password,samba request them again , and the same thing continues in a loop. So I copied another computer's smb.conf (which is also a Fedora 11,samba runs well in this one).I copied this file to /etc/samba/ ,then samba can't satart up . I read from /var/log/samba/log.smbd.log : Unable to open configuration file "/etc/samba/smb.conf": Permission denied Even if I use: chmod 777 /etc/samba/smb.conf

How do I decide what IP address to enter in my config file when assigning a static IP. All of the instructions I can find say something like "of course you should modify the file according to your own settings." Should I just use the gateway and IP that returns from "iwconfig" and "route -nee"?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI copy all music to a single location (~/music) which makes it easier to backup and manage.However, Rhythmbox looks for music both here, and under the purchased music folder, which means that any music I have purchased gets listed twice - once from my music folder, and once from the purchased music folder.I have tried using gconf-editor to change apps/rhythmbox/library_locations to only include my music folder, however when next I restart Rhythmbox, the setting reverts to also including the purchased music folder.Is there a way of preventing this from happening?I only want "~/music" listed for library locations - I do not wish to include "~/.local/share/ubuntuone/Purchased%20from%20Ubuntu%20One".

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've installed webdav on my server and I can access it fine through cadaver. However, when I try to access it via nautilus, I get Forbidden. It is NOT secured (SSL). When I try to access it via firefox, I get an error since I DO NOT have "Options Indexes" in my apache config file. If I add this option in, then I can browse the root direction and webdav folder via firefox, but still not from nautilus. what other information you need. I've googled and searched the forums for awhile, but not "solutions" I found have worked for me. I want the webdav folder to just be a single folder within the direction, so this is how I have my config file setup:

I would like to adjust Xinerama to place 1 desktop on each of my 2 monitors and not stretch a single over both. With the current set up there is a problem with window placement upon opening new widows or context dialog boxes. I realize that I could adjust placement properties and select window placement with the mouse but this is still lacking in productivity. My monitors are not next to on another so this is more of a problem than it seems.

I use the move_uploaded_file(), but I can't get the location to work correctly. "/var/www/upload/" uploads to "/var/www/". This is the only way i can get this code to work. I would like to upload to "/var/www/upload/".

First time I opened a ram file I choosed the default player, Reproductor de peliculas (I think Movie player in english).Now when I choose Open with Realplayer and remember the application for this extension it opens the archive but it does not remember for the next times. Each request is basically a request for a concatenation of the files in the order of the letters. The list of possible requests is finite, but large enough that disk space will run out very quickly and be very expensive if I create all possible files via concatenation.Is there a way to create a pointer file like abcd that is essentially a multi-file symlink that first points to a then to be then to c then to d? I have 10.04 and have samba running.
Samba is remotely administered with webmin and aim to setup home directory sharing. I am however having some trouble getting this to work.
I was of the understanding that home directory sharing allows me to create a user in ubuntu, which samba will then pickup and offer it up as a share.
My smb.conf looks like this..

Essentially I've found this works providing I give the samba user a password after it is automatically created using the 'Configure automatic Unix and Samba user synchronisation' option in webmin.
However if I move the location of this home folder off the main drive i.e. /home/username I get turned away at attempted login.
I've tried specifying the path in [homes] using the path = /media/discarray, but this seems to break authentication somehow.
New install of FC12 and after logging into the KDE desktop then going back to Gnome, the Desktop Config File for KDE shows on the Gnome desktop. I ran gconf-editor and I can see the file but no option to not display in Nautilus. Is there an easy way to not display the file on the Gnome desktop without messing up the KDE config file?
