Ubuntu :: Power Manager Doesn't Show Remaining Battery Hours

Dec 10, 2010

I've had this problem for a while and have eagerly awaited a fix, but have not received one. But the problem is when I'm either charging or on battery and I would click on the power manager the menu that pops up shows me the percentage of life remaining but does not give me any indication of how long I have until my battery is dead/fully charged. If I were to open up the Power Statistics window there is no information time to full or time to empty. Both are just empty.

Slackware :: Xfce4-power-manager-1.0.1 And No Battery Options

Oct 17, 2010

I noticed that there is a 1.0.1 version of xfce4-power-manager, so I tried it out last night. Note: It requires libxfce4ui >= 4.7. I compiled it using the same SlackBuild script as the one in Slackware 13.1. It compiled and installed just fine. However, when I logged out of XFCE and logged back in, I could only set a few options, and battery options were completely non-existant.

I double-checked, and my user account in in the power group. Has anyone else had a similar problem? In the meantime, I've downgraded back to the 0.8.5 version that Slackware ships with.

Debian Multimedia :: Xfce4-power-manager Doesn't React To Power Button / Fix It?

Jun 4, 2010

I use Squeeze with Xfce. My problem is that recently (after the xfce updates) the xfce power manager doesnt react to the power button - it is set to suspend. I dont have gnome-power manager or anything like it running.
If i reboot the computer, the power button will work but if i suspend and resume, it doesnt work again.
The computer is built on an Asus M3N78-VM mobo (2GB RAM/Athlon3200+ single core).

acpi_listen detects the button press.

Any thoughts?

Just one small thing - the battery meter is never accurate as far as time remaining goes - it currently says i have 19 hours 55 minutes to go - unfortunately this is not quite true i suspect. It was the same with 9.10, Does anyone have a solution for this?

Networking :: Manager Not Listing All Networks / Doesn't Show Them In The List When Left Click The Tray Icon?

Jul 3, 2010

I have two wifi routers. If I stand next to the main one with my laptop I can connect and access the internet no problem. The other router is in my office, and the bridging is messed up, so while I see the essid and bssid using 'iwlist scanning' and nm-tool, I can't connect to it.

Now, my main router's signal still reaches to my office, just not as strong as the borked router in my office. I need to be able to choose which wifi network to connect to without wasting time walking between rooms. I added entries for both in network-manager, but it doesn't show them in the list when I left click the tray icon! How the do I connect to the network I want?

Ubuntu :: Hangs And Freezes On Battery Power?

May 30, 2011

I'm running 11.04 on my Dell SXPS 1645. Today I unplugged my laptop from AC power a few times and after about 10 minutes, Ubuntu would hang, not responding to anything. Frozen mouse, frozen keys. The ONLY thing I could do to get it out was to do a hard hardware restart by holding down the power button.

It happened twice on Skype (and I thought it was just the buggy 2.2 beta that was hanging my beautiful OS), once while installing a printer, and once while I was just futzin around on firefox.

Sometimes when it is fully charged I remove the power cord, battery power comes down to 40%-41%. It never happened with Ubuntu, which gave quite a good battery performance. My question is when it is showing Laptop Battery 100% i.e. fully charged, if I remove the cord why it comes down to 40%-41% (and always in this range).

Is there a way I can toggle the performance, so that I can get "plugged in level performance" even when i'm on battery power? I'm not too bothered about how long the battery lasts. I'm usually always near an outlet.
