Jan 7, 2010I'm unable to copy contacts from the Personal book to the Ubuntu One book. Not individually or the whole book. No error messages, nothing.

Ubuntu :: Can't Edit Personal Contacts In Evolution
Feb 24, 2011I have installed the Maveric 10.10 version on an HP Pavilion dv7-1262us laptop and am using Evolution 2.30.3 for email. When I click on the contacts button in Evolution, and then click on a particular contact (in the personal contact list), I can't seem to modify the name or email; I can click in the boxes and cursor about, but no editing; the entire panel seems to be greyed out. I have searched a bit, but have not seen this particular problem addressed.

Oct 21, 2010Looks like many people had issues in deleting multiple contacts from evolution-couchdb-ubuntuone address book. I had an issue (on more than one pc, and different ubuntu one accounts) and can't recognize if there are related posts. Something is messed up, but why? The reason why I'm opening a new thread is to ask: is gnome-keyring manager expected to have two entries for couchdb in the default behavior?
I want to erase my address book. After Ctrl+A > Ctrl+D > Yes and no effect, I can't delete single nor multiple contacts. Evolution states:
"Eliminazione del contatto non riuscita. Altro errore"
In Italian that means: Cannot delete the contact. Other error. (Maybe: undefined eror, unexpected error in en localization).

I have been trying (since 10.04!) to sync my Evolution contacts. UbuntuOne seems to be the most promising way of doing that automatically, however, I completely fail at accomplishing this seemingly simple task. I have NEVER been able to successfully back up my address book to UbuntuOne. Note: all other sync works fine. It's just Evolution that is seemingly smarter than I am. Thing I have done to solve the issue:
- Upgraded from 10.04 to 11.04
- All three steps from this article:

- Cuss and swear and roll my eyes, mutter a few unrepeatable curse words about Canonical and their mothers.
None of this has solved my issue.

Feb 22, 2011Using openSUSE 11.3 (64-bit), KDE environment. I am very, very new and inexperienced with Linux... I would like to download and read some e-books using my desktop PC. I poked around the Internet with Google and found several recommendations for an e-book reader called Calibre. So I found it in the openSUSE repository and installed v. 0.6.53-3.3.1 using YaST2. But the darned thing does not seem to work -- I click on the icon and nothing happens!!

My only problem is I am unable to access my address book when I click <select> when sending a new message; only recent addresses show in the window that pops up. Even if I select <all> in the list of choices, only <recent addresses> show up. In the useful tips that appear upon opening K-mail it states that if I click on < folders> then < Mailing list management> I will be able to select and manage all of my address books. But when I click on <folders> the <mailing list management> is faded telling me that it is not enabled. My question is what must I do to enable the mailing list management to be enabled? I have enabled mailman with no help.

Jan 15, 2010I have been having a problem with K9 Copy whenever I try to convert a DVD to MPEG files using the method without encoding, but for some reason lately it seems to be splitting each episode I am trying to rip into about 6 or 7 pieces instead of just one.
I never usually have a problem with this, but for some reason it seems to be doing this whenever I try to rip something. I am running on Obuntu 9.10 and have K9Copy version 2.3.0 installed. I have tried installing several other versions, but it does the same thing with each.

Installation :: Unable To Install Nvidia Driver After Using Dd To Copy Drive?
Sep 25, 2009I was recently able to obtain a new laptop at work. Rather than reinstalling the OS, reconfiguring all of the software, and then copying over all of my data from my old laptop -- I decided to try to use dd to clone my drive. It worked pretty darn well (thanks Saikee!). However, I have two problems that I have noticed so far:
1) The system does not seem to offer me the option to install the proprietary nvidia driver. I was able to manually install the nvidia-glx-180 package and then edit xorg.conf appropriately and I'm running with the nvidia driver now. So this problem is resolved (though I still find it odd it didn't even offer my the "restricted hardware drivers" option in System -> Administration).
2) Wireless is not working. I checked dmesg and it doesn't seem to have any errors in it. Here is a list of things I have checked/found which I think might be relevant:
- Oddly enough it seems that my wired device always gets renamed from eth0 to eth1, and my wireless device gets renamed from wlan0 to wlan1. I'm not sure why (though I would prefer them to be eth0 and wlan0).
- dmesg output looks good shows some message about the wlan1 link not being ready
