Whenver i try to copy files from my centos to pendrive ( 2gb, kingston datatraveller) my system is gettin hanged leaving no option then to reboot. i tried from the terminal also, and as a diffrent user also. but same results.
I am using CentOS 5.3, kernal version is 2.6.18-164.el5 i cant copy things from my CentOS to any External pen drive. I tried from terminal also. but everytime the system is getting hanged leaving no option then to reboot.

When I am using some pendrives, I am unable to write (copy) anything into them and end up with some warnings like "read only mode". I tried to change its permissions using chmod also, but it is of no use.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI need to use a pendrive with the Slackware 13.0 and I've tried a lot of things I've found at the internet but unfortunately they didn't work. It's not possible to use graphical interface because some reasons. So the problem need to be solved by command line.
When I use "lsusb" command, I can see the pendrive.
However, when I try these:
I got the following message: "Module usb-ohci not found" and "Module usbcore not found"
How can I deal with these problem? Because I guess without these module loaded it's not possible to mount the pendrive. Is it right?
Using redhat linux el5, when I had booted I had pbm repairing filesystem. So I run following commands
1. fsck -l
2. fsck
But I cannot solve the pbm. My pbm is I had important folder "backup" in root folder just I want to copy it in pendrive how to do it.
I get a SD card. Put in the SD reader. It's empty. I go to my super-important-pictures-to-a-monthly-relatory folder and select all files. Select them for MOVE. Paste them on the SD card. When the move/paste process is finished, i click on the "Eject" button on top of the SD card name. Card's ejected. I can't access the card anymore. I take out the card and put on my other computer. From 300 pictures, there are only 10 available, the remaining ones are there, but with 0bytes and unrecoveable. I panic. I go back to my main computer, my pictures are not there anymore. The pictures were on the Home folder. I panic again. I reset the computer and boot on the LiveCD. I install foremost, scalpel, photorec and about everything till my USB drive complains about being filled up. I run everything and I can't recover my files. I'm in the danger of getting fired. Things like that makes Windows sounds more appealing. When you securely remove a pendrive, things get REALLY pasted there before screwing everything up with a removal.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have been having a problem with K9 Copy whenever I try to convert a DVD to MPEG files using the method without encoding, but for some reason lately it seems to be splitting each episode I am trying to rip into about 6 or 7 pieces instead of just one.
I never usually have a problem with this, but for some reason it seems to be doing this whenever I try to rip something. I am running on Obuntu 9.10 and have K9Copy version 2.3.0 installed. I have tried installing several other versions, but it does the same thing with each.

I wanted to then boot the ISO up so i could install the version that way.I've already tried doing it through the update manager but it'll download, almost be done with installing and it freezes on me. so i figured this would be easier. But whenever iam trying to delete those content it is giving the following error. Readonly file system actually it is not.

I have a 160GB harddrive which I installed a F12, would like to upgrade to a bigger drive, but I hate to have to re-install everything.
Recommend a good disk copy utility? The utility should be able to not only copy files, but boot sector and everything. So I just need to make a copy, change my BIOS to boot from the new drive and run everything as before.
