Ubuntu Networking :: Setting Up Bluetooth Connection Between Two Computers Throws Connection Refused (111)
Apr 3, 2011I'm trying to create a PAN (Personal Area Network) using a laptop (Siragon ML-1040) and my desktop computer, but I get the Connection Refused (111) error.
Blueman doesn't detect any network service between the two computers unless I start PAND on one of them and then it detects the NAP service. That, only after I enable the NAP/Workgroup services on the Services submenu in Blueman. However, it doesn't work neither with the NM plugins or without them (dhclient and that other one I can't remember the name of).
Any clues over here? I'm using pand 4.91 and blueman.

Jun 25, 2010i have a bluetooth modem (BlueSMiRF) that is connected to Arduino Duemilanove. I am trying to see serial communication messages from the bluetooth modem.
I have Blueman Device Manager that enabled SPP (Serial Port) and it says :

How do I see the serial communication on this?

Nov 2, 2010The bluetooth manager does not detect a bluetooth dongle .trying to use ndiswrapper to fix.I installed device manager and the results are shown below.i downloaded the windows driver suite. It has 4 .exe self extracting driver archives and a setupconfig.ini. The .ini file is below.I was able to extract one of the 32bit archives on a windows machine and it had about 8 .inf files that are titled weird and would not install properly using ndiswrapper probably because im using the 64-bit architecture. there are 2 64bit .exe's in the driver download, but how can i extract them in ubuntu and do i really need to install all 8 .inf files. also do i actually need to make a .inf file? if so how?

Aug 1, 2010I've an Acer Aspire One A110 Netbook running Linpus Lite. All seems relatively well however I've plugged in a Bluetooth USB dongle and nothing has happened - oh well, I didn;t expect it to. Of course I'm used to MS Windows OS plug 'n Play and I know this isn't generally how Linpus Lite OS operates but despite looking around I can't find an explanation on how to activate the Bluetooth adapter. There are instructions and demos on how to add a Bluetooth component to the board but I'm not an engineer, neither professional nor hobbyist, so Im not interested in doing that. I've downloaded the Bluetooth zip file from the Acer Spire One support site it has been installed on the Netbook but there still appears to be no Bluetooth connection.

Mar 3, 2010I am having getting bluetooth working. I am using a home built computer, AMD Athalon 64, 1.5 gig ram, Slackware 13_64, up to date. I have bluez-firmware-1.2-x86_64-1, bluez-hcidump-1.42-x86_64-2, bluez-libs-3.36-x86_64-2, bluez-utils-3.36-x86_64-7 installed. I have a USB Micro Adapter 2.1 from IOGear and a Motorola S9-HD stereo headset.

Hardware :: MSI Bluetooth USB Dongle Connection - Certainly Not Long Enough To Send Or Receive A Single File
May 10, 2011Problems with Bluetooth. The dongle appears to be working, but then it craps out on me after only a few minutes!
I'm using the blueman-manager GUI to connect to my cell phone. If I load blueman-manager almost immediately after connecting my dongle, I can use it for a few minutes, but only long enough to add my phone, pair it and mark it as trusted. Certainly not long enough to send or receive a single file, though. Eventually and inevitably, the connection breaks, blueman-manager hangs/freezes up, and I start getting errors in dmesg.

I added the MARK myself to separate where the dmesg output stops immediately after plugging in the dongle from what appears after the connection is broken. It's right when that timeout error happens that the connection severs itself, and the error usually repeats itself several times.
Even if I just connect the dongle and not do anything except wait a few minutes, after a few minutes that timeout error will still happen. I'm running fluxbox and I don't believe I have any automounting programs, so there wouldn't be any interference from something like that.

I followed a guide, (installed blueman, connected to phone, enabled tethering, set to trust device and provide network access). The computer connects to the network and says it is successful, and the iPhone has the blue flashing banner saying it is now tethering, but firefox doesn't connect to the internet.
Is there a way to force it to use the new tethered connection?

Apr 1, 2010I run ubuntu 9.10. I recently convinced my wife to give it a shot. The problem is, the bluetooth dongle is detected and the icon appears when its plugged in, the mouse is found and says it is pointing in bluetooth manager but it does not move the cursor on the screen. I have tried 2 different dongles and both work correctly and control the mouse on my asus laptop. She is using a toshiba satelite. Both dongles show up in lsusb as hci0. I've tried everything on the forums and everything I could think of but no go. If she doesn't have use of the mouse for farmville I will be in trouble.

Oct 11, 2010So, after the upgrade to 10.10, my bluetooth devices keep cutting in and out, and my Jabra bt125 won't connect to this computer. The Jabra won't even show up on btscanner or bluewho, but it will connect to my phone. The phone connects, but quickly disconnects. When left alone, the two will connect again! A friend's other headset connected, but had the same problems as the phone. That was an LG HBM-210. The signal was good for up to a minute, then down for at least a minute, over and over. Before the upgrade everything worked perfectly. What happened, or what did I forget to do? Might I have removed something critical when I switched Maverick 64-bit to the lubuntu package, and tried to remove some redundancies?

Dec 22, 2010I have been using ubuntu for a few years now but am a noob when comes to the technical side of things, so apologies for my lack of knowledge.
I am using ubuntu 10.10 on a ZOTAC IONITX-A-U Atom N330 1.6GHz Dual-Core Mini ITX Intel Motherboard and since I have upgraded from 10.04 I no longer have blue tooth capabilities. I have a logitech mx 5500 wireless keyboard and mouse, which uses a bluetooth dongle. This is the strange part as they have both been working until recently.
They both lost their charge and after replacing the batteries in my keyboard it no longer is able to connect. The mouse however works fine, until I dropped it So I bought a microsoft explorer mouse which came with its own bluetooth dongle. Which I plugged in and the mouse works fine.
But when I go to System> Preferences> Bluetooth
I get Bluetooth adapter not present and Your computer does not have any Bluetooth adapters plugged in.
I have spent the last week googling this and can't seem to find any relevant info.
I ran this in terminal code...
Am I wrong in assuming that the logitech and microsoft dongles are being seen?
I have also removed and reinstalled bluetooth and bluetooth manager in the software centre, and the same with synaptic package manager, to no avail.
With both dongles plugged in could this also cause a problem?
Is there another way of starting the bluetooth?

Dec 22, 2010i have had my bluetooth keyboard and mouse working fine for a little while now, then one day.. seemingly out of the blue (no pun intended) it stopped. heres what i deduced:

and i can manually force the keyboard to connect by putting the keyboard into discoverable mode (press the button on the back of it) and using hidd:

Feb 4, 2011Trying to attach my Motorola Bravo (Android 2.1) phone to my Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS Laptop via Bluetooth. Can see the phone "pair" to it. But If I try to do the transfer of files, or browse (using the bluetooth applet), I can't see the phone.

Ubuntu Networking :: Bluetooth / Wireless Same FN Key Not Working?
Apr 10, 2011Trying to enable bluetooth (internal) on my Acer Aspire One D255. Despite bluetooth issues in general, here is the kicker: Acer decided to combine the fn+F3 key and fn+F2 key into one uber-network key. In windows 7 you hit fn+F3 and you get two options on your screen: enable/disable wireless + enable/disable bluetooth. Not so Ubuntu. I hit fn+F3 and it does various things to my wireless or my bluetooth every 3rd or 4th press. Disabling or enabling both... or neither. Very frustrating.
1) How does one remap the fn+F# keys (one for each)
2) Is there any other bluetooth voodoo for the bluetooth on this machine?
