have a toshiba satellite L745 running Lucid Lynx I need drivers for the Atheros AR8151 ethernet card. Every post I have read on installing the driver give links to Atheros but they are all broken. Does anybody know where I can download driver?

The driver from [URL] won't work either (error in script on make).
I have used Ubuntu without trouble for quite some time now on my computer (maybe 2 years; recently upgraded to 10.04) and have just bought a new computer for the office. When I install 10.04 on the new computer it doesn't seem to recognise the lan card, an atheros AR8151 onboard card (on a GA-G41MT-S2 mobo).
p.s. phrases such as 'build-essentials', 'sudo' and '.tar.gz' files don't mean anything to me (except the last is a bit like a zip file I think).
I installed Debian awhile ago, but then replaced the mobo. Now my system doesn't detect the onboard LAN card, installing the windows driver fixed that problem on windows but I can't seem to find the appropriate driver for Linux.
The card is an Atheros 8151.
The problem is that my install of linux (64bit) does not recognize any adapter on the system. I went and downloaded a driver, after a make, make install, and reboot it still wasn't fixed.
I can find on this recommends downloading from some partner.atheros.com which seems defunct.
I am using asus p5ld2-x/1333 motherboard,I installed the centos ,Centos saw other drivers but didn't see ethernet card.I am not connection the internet.

I have installed CentOS 5.3 on my PC which has an Atheros AR8121/8113/8114 Gigabit Ethernet. Unfortunately 5.3 has no drivers for this LAN Card. I searched the Google for drivers but was unable to find any. Does the 5.4 has them? If yes then how can i upgrade it to 5.4 without Network connectivity?
View 11 Replies View RelatedI realise there are a few threads of issues with the AR8152 chipset and Ubuntu 11.04, however, my issue does not appear to be the same as others, nor does there appear to be a consistent solution yet. My ethernet worked fine in Ubuntu 10.10, but after upgrading to 11.04, I experience the errors I am about to explain. I also experience these when booting off a Ubuntu 11.04 Live CD, so it's not just the upgrade the caused the issues. The issue is, if I turn on my system without the ethernet cable plugged in, and then plug the ethernet cable in once I've logged into Ubuntu, the system will not detect it, at all. No amount of network manager of dhclient eth0 will get it to function, however, the device itself still appears in the system. If I turn the system on with the ethernet plugged in, however, it will get an IP address and function correctly. I tried to download the drivers from Atheros and build them, but for whatever reason it complained about me not having autoconf.h or automake.h (can't remember which), despite having build-essentials and linux-headers-generic installed.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an absolutely bizarre hardware issue (concerning the Atheros AR8132 PCI-E Fast Ethernet Controller) that has been giving me quite a bit of grief for a while, and having completely hit a wall on this one, I'm a reasonably-experienced Linux user of several years, and have been running Ubuntu 9.10 on an Acer AOD250 netbook for several months out. I know that this model has wireless issues out-of-the-box (easily fixed), but it did not have any noticeable ethernet issues. That is, until I attempted an installation of Arch Linux.
During the Arch Linux installation, the ethernet card was initially detected, but unable to be used (because of a bad module in the kernel released with the installer). As I didn't know the fix for this at the time, I decided to reinstall Ubuntu 9.10. This time, however, the system failed to recognize the wired ethernet whatsoever. Instead, the external activity lights for the port (green and orange) are ALWAYS on, yet the device doesn't function.
I have done a successful install of the latest drivers directly from Atheros for the device and have them automatically loading with the kernel during boot, but as the device isn't recognized, the drivers aren't doing any good. Relevant information:

I just installed Slackware 13.1 on my new Toshiba satellite c650 and my ethernet device isn't working. I have tried to compile the driver provided by atheros but being a newbie i failed. I understand that there's a driver included in the kernel, so why isn't it loading? The info center list my PCI LAN card as "attansic corp device 2060".

I have an ASUS P5Q PRO motherboard with an integrated Atheros AR8121/AR8113 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Adapter.I installed Ubuntu 10.04 "Lucid" 64bit Kernel version 2.6.32.21 I have read that the driver isn't in the kernel, but there's a strange thing :
First if I try to run lspci from command line it doesn't reports Atheros Ethernet Controller.
Second If I try to run lshw -C network from command line it doesn't reports Atheros Ethernet Controller.
Third if I run ifconfig it only returns my loopback address.
Can I suppose that my Ethernet Intel Gigabit Controller is broken or that Atheros driver is missing?
I am unable to find Atheros AR8132 PCI-E Ethernet Controller driver for CentOS which is installed on my netbook.
I contacted DELL to provide me the driver and they said that they do not support Linux on netbook and I have to arrange it myself.
I told them that I don't need help in installing I just need the driver file to which they said that they don't have driver for Linux.
NIC is getting detected and works fine on the same netbook (Am dual booting Windows7/CentOS) with Windows7
When I type: ls -l /dev/ it does not show up eth0. Same result with ifconfig. When I type lspci | grep net it does show up something like Atheros Communications AR8132 L1 PCI Gigabit .

View 5 Replies View RelatedI've installed it no problems on my desktop and I really love it. Now I'm trying to install it on my Satellite and I'm having a couple of problems. When trying to connect to my wireless network, I can see my network, but it will just keep asking me for my WEP. I've confirmed that there is nothing wrong with the network or the password I've provided. Sometimes when I boot up, the network manager just says that the wireless networks are disconnected and can't find any. The wired connection always works just fine.

I am currently using Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx. Although it has worked fine for the past couple of weeks, I have recently encountered a problem with my wireless card. It is an Atheros AR928X card on a Toshiba satellite U405D-S2874 model laptop. Recently, I attempted to put the computer into suspend mode for the first time. The computer failed to wake up, and I performed a hard reboot. After this, everything seems to work except for the wireless card. I am now unable to connect to any wireless network with my laptop, and the wireless manager doesn't seem to be working either.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am not exactly sure whats wrong here, but Ubuntu 11.04 reports that the Atheros card for my laptop ( AR9287) is disabled. When I try to turn it on using fn+F3 it does not do anything. I looked around and found out about RF-Kill, tried doing the sudo rfkill unblock 0 and it did not work, I attempted that with both 1 and 0 as I also have a gigabit lan card. Though I could see the block status of the eth0 card changing, the Soft block of the wireless card did not.
I have also tried unblocking the pci_ath card in modprobe.d and that also did not work after restarting.
I am using a Acer Aspire 7551g with a Atheros wireless controller. Running Ubuntu 11.04 x64 AMD

My suspect was the driver was 2.6.35.1 kernel based i may need to update my kernel, but i have other laptop having 2.6.32-21 kernel and this card works fine.
Just installed Fedora 14 from the Live CD i686 on my Dell Inspiron 1521. I can't connect to the SpeedTouch 585 on either wireless broadcom card or the wired Ethernet card.
I can connect to it from the same Laptop on the Vista which is on dual boot on the same laptop.
Further confusing is that I ran Fedora 14 and connected to another SpeedTouch today.
Already checked the Channel on the wireless nic and it's on the same one as the SpeedTouch.

During the setup, I was able to configure the wireless connection and use it to install additional software from the FreshRPMs and Livna repos. When the install was completed, I was surprised to find the wireless not working. When I click on the NetworkManager icon at the bottom right corner, I see "Wireless Networks" Under that it says "device not ready" and it is greyed out so it cannot be click on.

As far as I know there isn't a linux driver for it, so I installed ndiswrapper to use a windows driver instead. The problem is that when I type modprobe ndiswrapper I get "bash: modprobe: command not found" (even as root). I know I'm missing something about modprobe, but I can't find any help on google. Anyway, I installed ndisgtk next, because I thought it would be easier, but when I go to System> Administration> Windows Wireless Drivers I get a message "Unknown error".Do you have any ideas on how I'll make ndiswrapper work?

Now, for some reason, my wireless and ethernet ports have died. I can't get online by either method. I can do ifconfig <device> up and it will show up if i do iwconfig or ifconfig, but the wireless isn't associated with the AP. View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm been wanting to try Ubuntu for a while now, and when my mom's netbook started to get insanely slow with WinXP, I tried the Netbook Remix on a USB stick. I LOVE it, except I am unable to get the wireless working, which is the only thing stopping me right now from a full install.
I believe my problem is that I need to activate the two drivers "Broadcom B43 wireless driver" and "Broadcom STA wireless driver" which appear as unactivated when I go into the hardware drivers admin tools. Unfortunately this netbook (HP Mini Netbook FW376UA) does not have an Ethernet port, so I can't just temporarily hard wire it to activate these drivers.
So my main questions are: 1) How can I activate those drivers without an internet connection?, and 2) Do you think that activating these drivers is indeed the answer to getting the wireless working?

I absolutely love Lubuntu on VirtualBox. I installed it to my Compaq Mini CQ-10 without issue. However, there are no drivers for the Wireless or the NIC. Ok, so I go to Broadcom and download the drivers. But, when I try to install with the Makefile, Terminal tells me that make is not installed! Now, how do I install my drivers without make?
