Ubuntu Networking :: Atheros Wireless Card Can See Networks But Can't Connect

I've installed it no problems on my desktop and I really love it. Now I'm trying to install it on my Satellite and I'm having a couple of problems. When trying to connect to my wireless network, I can see my network, but it will just keep asking me for my WEP. I've confirmed that there is nothing wrong with the network or the password I've provided. Sometimes when I boot up, the network manager just says that the wireless networks are disconnected and can't find any. The wired connection always works just fine.

I just installed OpenSuSE 11.3 x86_64, and as I'm new to OpenSuSE I can't get my wireless to work. I believe it should work because it worked out of the box in Ubuntu (9.10 and 10.04)
At first I didn't see any network icon in the notification area, but after some googling figured out to enable NetworkManager instead of ifup. Now there is an icon, and clicking it I can see wireless networks, but when I try to connect it tries for a while, then seems to give up.
/sbin/lspci gives

I want to load Atheros wireless card to ubuntu linux OS having kernel 2.6.32.21. I have loaded the atheros driver and I observed the following log messages when card was inserted.

My suspect was the driver was 2.6.35.1 kernel based i may need to update my kernel, but i have other laptop having 2.6.32-21 kernel and this card works fine.

This morning I installed Fedora 14 on my laptop. During the setup, I was able to configure the wireless connection and use it to install additional software from the FreshRPMs and Livna repos. When the install was completed, I was surprised to find the wireless not working. When I click on the NetworkManager icon at the bottom right corner, I see "Wireless Networks" Under that it says "device not ready" and it is greyed out so it cannot be click on.
Running lspci -vnn returned

installing my wireless card Atheros AR9285.I have tried to get it working with both compat wireless - Ath9k driver but I dont know exactly how to do.I have also tried to get it to work with ndiswrapper, but it is really tricky because nothing is available in centos like precompiled ndiswrapper.I used to work with Arch Linux so everything in Centos is totally new to me and I don�t understand a thing:I need to get it to work as soon as possible.What I have read the should go to just "activate" the ath9k driver with my card and it would work,

I'm trying to find a driver for my wireless card (Atheros AR928X) and I think it's ath9k what I need. As far as I know there isn't a linux driver for it, so I installed ndiswrapper to use a windows driver instead. The problem is that when I type modprobe ndiswrapper I get "bash: modprobe: command not found" (even as root). I know I'm missing something about modprobe, but I can't find any help on google. Anyway, I installed ndisgtk next, because I thought it would be easier, but when I go to System> Administration> Windows Wireless Drivers I get a message "Unknown error".Do you have any ideas on how I'll make ndiswrapper work?

Ok, so I upgraded my acer aspire one to the new Ubuntu 10, and at first everything was working fine, except the audio. Now, for some reason, my wireless and ethernet ports have died. I can't get online by either method. I can do ifconfig <device> up and it will show up if i do iwconfig or ifconfig, but the wireless isn't associated with the AP. Currently I'm trying to load some drivers for my atheros card, and we'll see how that works outReally I was wondering, how come the modules don't load at boot time, and how can I fix this? I have a Samsung N150 netbook with Atheros AR 9285 WiFi card. I installed Ubuntu 9.10 on it, although this problem happens on other distros too (Network Remix 9.10, OpenSuse 11.2) My wifi card and networks get detected. The problem is when I try to connect to my network, which is protected by WPA key (I don't know if it matters whether it's WPA or not). After I input my network key, the network manager is trying to connect, but obviously cannot, because just prompts me for password again. I can connect without problems to this network from my other computer running WinXP

I've a working internal Intel wifi card but it does not have the greatest of ranges so I bought a Edimax EW-7711UAn.
On the box is says Linux compatible. All knowing Google states that it works out of the box with Ubuntu 10.04.
NetworkManager lists the card at a Ralink 8011.n WLAN (disconnected).
There are no networks listed under this card in NetworkManager or wicd even if I disable the internal wifi using the nm-system-settings.conf.
dmesg has the following lines:

I have a machine running Xubuntu [2.6.22-14-generic]. I have been trying to get this machine connected to wireless for ages, and I'm having another stab at it. So far I have install ndiswrapper and loaded the driver for a Linksys wireless adapter. The output of 'ndiswrapper -l' reports:

I have an Atheros AR242x card. It can see my wireless network (WPA2). When i attempt to connect to the network it asks for the WPA2 passphrase. After entering the password it begins connecting but hangs up for about 3 minutes before saying wireless disconnected. The wireless worked for one day on a fresh install (Ubuntu 10.04)and then started doing this.

I have a WLAN Driver Azure Wave AW-NU222 Wireless LAN Card in my Medion computer.
After installing Ubuntu it seems to detect the wireless networks in my area. However, when I try to connect to my network, it tries for several minutes and then times out with no error message. I have set up the credentials and also tried removing the encryption (WPA-PSK) from the network itself, but it still doesn't connect.
Connect via an Ethernet cable is fine, and I know that the network is good because I can connect via my Windows Laptop and various other wireless devices.
I suspect it's due to drivers, but I'm having trouble downloading a driver which I can try and install using Ndiswrapper. The Medion website just a windows executable when I try and download the driver specific to my machine when I really need the .inf file.

Here is a situation I have never come across (though I have only been using linux since 2004).I am running ubuntu 10.04 and using Wicd Network Manager.I can connect to my WPA encrypted home network, but if I go to my coffee shop to use their unencrypted wifi - I cannot.Even using the terminal. I think it is the way the device sees the network - but I don't know how to fix it.I have a screenshot with wicd here:And one with connecting to the essid here:Afterwhich, dhclient was unable to obtain an ipaddress - just like wicd above.

So I was the one who couldn't get their ethernet port to function properly. Most likely, this was the result of bad hardware since none of the community's suggestions for software fixes did anything. I believe this is probably true.Indeed, when I bought a cheap $10 wireless USB dongle, it immediately worked better than all the previous things. It detected networks, displayed network strength and even allowed me to attempt login.
The only problem now seems to be that it cannot login. I've rechecked the password countless times, but it just shows the 'connecting to wireless' animation for a minute or two and then poops out and says, 'disconnected'.I assume if everything is getting me this far, the driver is not the problem with the device. Is this a safe assumption?

Basically, I just installed Fedora in my desktop (use it on my laptop), and have a big problem, which is that Fedora (13), detects my wireless card (Edimax nMAX EW-7728IN), but when I try to connect to my wireless networks (WEP & WPA) it hangs and asks again for the password. I know the problem isn't from my routers,since I'm right now connected via Fedora 13 in my laptop.

I'm running ubuntu 9.10 on my desktop.Wireless networks appear on the dropdown menu but when I try to connect to my home network the authentication box appears, after typing my password the box disappears and it continues to connect but nothing happens and after a while the authentication box appears again. I have a Acer Revo R3610 nettop on which I installed oS11.3. It has an Atheros AR5001 wireless network adaptor.I'm getting very bad latency and throughput on with this card. In comparison my Thinkpad with Intel card achieves at least 10 times the throughput from the same location. Also when I boot my wifi will come up authenticate and then a few seconds later disconnect and reconnect. I've tried updating the kernel to 2.6.35 as one of the fixes was to improve the performance of the ath5k driver. I'm using wpa2 authentication.

Just installed Fedora 14 from the Live CD i686 on my Dell Inspiron 1521. I can't connect to the SpeedTouch 585 on either wireless broadcom card or the wired Ethernet card.
I can connect to it from the same Laptop on the Vista which is on dual boot on the same laptop.
Further confusing is that I ran Fedora 14 and connected to another SpeedTouch today.
Already checked the Channel on the wireless nic and it's on the same one as the SpeedTouch.

Those are my authentication capabilities, obviously. I am using a WEP encryption for my wireless router and according to this, it will not allow me to connect. Is there anyway to allow that? The wireless card works just fine in Windows, even on the same network encryption type. Using a Intel Wireless/Pro 4965 ag. Note* this is my mother's router and whatnot. She won't change it the encryption type.
