downloaded wubi 10.04 & after install wireless inop. 64bit 10.04 & unable to connect with a cat5 to download fixes My problem is finding the fix for wireless & downloading it with windows. So how can i download the fix in windows & install with the update manager or whatever. Bottom line what is the fix & how can i download it with windows?

After downloading almost 95% of the update, it gave an error message of "could not download certain components. downloaded files will not be erased" and stopped the update. I restarted the PC, and started the update manager again. But now it does not show any option of update to 10.4. how do I continue or resume the update process? I just started using ubuntu about 15 days back. So, I am relatively new to this.

I opened Software Sources to try and remove the repositories, but couldn't find them. Plus I'm not sure if I need to manually replace these repositories with newer ones- I'm still relatively new at using Ubuntu (made the full switch from windows in October 2009). Plus, whenever I do install updates with the update manager, the "last updated" time doesn't reset itself. It finishes installing the selected packages, and the message at the top of the Update Manager window reads "Your system is up-to-date. The package information was last updated 28 days ago.

Ran the update manager, system was pretty much up to date, only a few files to download. Was it ever SLOW. Most of the time I can download from other sites about 650 kB/s. The update was around 10 kB/s and slower sometimes. What is wrong? Just a lot of people updating at the same time?

I have a system that has very limited disk space on /var and everytime I attempt to do any updates to the system via update manager it was always error saying that there is not enough disk space. I wanted to know how I can change the download directory of the update manager to a partition with more space?

View 1 Replies View Relatedi installed Ubuntu rel 9.10 download as a first time user. all was fine until the update manager bugged me enough to update. i allowed it to download and install the updates for rel 10.04. after the update i started having intermittent GRUB errors at boot. i worked on this problem and without warning Ubuntu returned to rel 9.10. the Linux kernel is still at level 2.6.31-21. rather than do another update manager update i am considering a download of rel 10.04 and install from that. i would then have a backup for rel 10.04. my concerns are my user data i do not have a user partition. also how would the install partition my hard drive. i allowed the install to partition my 9.10 system. my current FDISK output not sure why devices show sda i thought they woud be hda hard drive??

I tried the "online update" using Yast2 but apparently (according to Yast) there is nothing at all to be patched on my system. I tried to click on the Firefox-3.5.5 rpm in the repository web-interface and open it using "install software" but the process aborts because of unresolved dependencies. The motherboard I got has a feature (I don't think I can shut off) that lets you select what drive you want to boot off of. I have XP installed on the first drive and openSUSE 11.1 on the second drive. I am running openSUSE 11.2 with KDE 3.5 and I simply dropped my drives onto this new motherboard. I can boot up (Linux) just fine but am having other issues with my mouse. I am thinking of Updating to openSUSE 11.2 and the current KDE version.
Should I just update to 11.2 or do a new install. I have LOTS of data in my home directory I really don't want to lose and have a partition for data as well that is pretty full. I don't want to lose this stuff. What should I do about Grub with this BIOS that lets you pick which drive to boot off of? Put Grub in the MBR of the drive with openSUSE on it and nuke the MBR of the XP drive?
I have seen this before and it is doing it again, why does update manager ask for the install cd?

It seems ther's a bug with network-manager, but I'd like to use it again as it easier and NB user-friendly.
Arg, I just removed the bad update 2. 6.35-24.now update manager wants me to install new ones; is it still the 'bad' update that messed up my wifi or has it been fixed?
