Ubuntu Networking :: NoIP Not Redirect IP After Host Added In EHCP?

Apr 10, 2010

I have a dell desktop PC that runs with ubuntu 9.04 jaunty jackalope and has 2 network cards eth0 that is connected to internet with an pppoe connection and is shared on eth1 for the other pc that is with windows on the ubuntu server machine is installed EHCP controls panel and No-IP, No-IP works fine but if I add a host as a domain in EHCP where I want to add EHCP {itself, problem appears. No-IP does not redirect to my IP after I added host in EHCP. EHCP is set to have the original IP of my pppoe and I tried with the 127.0.0.1 IP and the problem is still there.

Networking :: Easiest Way To Redirect External Traffic To VMWare Web Host On Same Machine?

Jul 14, 2009

Have done a bit of Googling around this but got totally swamped so will try here. Basically we are running a CentOS server which hosts a number of virtual hosts under Apache. Recently I needed to set up a development environment for another site using Ubuntu and have this running and accessible on the LAN from a VMWare image. I'm using bridged networking so the VMWare machine has its own IP on the LAN subnet.

I've set up a DNS to point to the external IP of the physical host but can't figure out how to route traffic requested on this domain to the VMWare host. I've basically tried two approaches (configuring a proxy web server and reverse proxy in an httpd.conf file and mucking around with iptables forwarding rules but without success.

Ideally I'd like somesite.somewhere.com to point to the VMWare IP but I could live with a custom port on the end if thats whats required.

To throw further complication into the mix I need reliable communication between the VMWare machine and external mail relay servers in order to debug any issues with mail bouncebacks, embargos etc.

Any idea what's the easiest way to accomplish this?

Ubuntu Networking :: NoIP Domain Setup For SSH Access

Feb 23, 2010

I've recently installed noip2 which installed fine. Except when I try connect to my noip domain it sends me to my router login page and won't let me access my ubuntu box. How can I set my noip domain so when I connect, it will allow me to access SSH, sabnzbd, etc., instead of forwarding me to the router login page. I'm sensing that I may have to set the ubuntu box to a static ip and forward the various ports of SSH, sabnzbd, etc to it. Would this be correct?

I am using Webmin to access a database. I finally acquired a static IP address. After entering it into the allowed host for the PostgreSQL server, I still can't access it through the SQL Manager for postgres in Windows. It doesn't seem to actually make the change. I am the new person managing this database. The old person use to be able to just add an IP address and it would connect. Is there something I am missing that I may need to install?

Ubuntu Servers :: Apache2 Virtual Host Appears To Redirect Url ?

Jun 4, 2010

My goal is a testing server with an apache virtual host for each site that I'm working on, with fairly painless setup for each new job.For example, I want http://site-a.mydomain to server this document root /home/client-a/site-a/public_html (or something to that effect)Ideally, DNS will use a wildcard to point http://anything-i-type.mydomain to the testing server, and apache will have a dynamic virtual host definition that will do a little magic so that I won't have to mess with DNS records or add a new virtual host each time I add a new site for a client. I'll worry about that when I get there, just put that out there in case anyone has any tips! for now I just have one little problem that's hurting my mood-

It looks like I've got my DNS server working just fine, so yay there- BUT my first attempt at adding a virtual host isn't working quite how I expected- meaning that site-a.mydomain now serves up the correct document root, but when you put http://site-a.mydomain into the browser's address bar, the address bar is then updated to http://10.0.1.100/site-a/public_html - bogus!! I must be missing an option like "FunnyBusiness Off" -

root@ubuntuvm:/etc/apache2/sites-available# vim client-a.mydomain
<VirtualHost *:80>
UseCanonicalName Off
ServerName site-a.mydomain
DocumentRoot /home/client-a/site-a/public_html
</VirtualHost>2

Fedora Security :: Redirect Auditd Log To Remote Host?

way to redirect the audit daemon message to a remote host I checked the auditd.conf and it's man page and find that the log location is specified by the line log_file = file_path and in the man page

Quote:

"log_file: This keyword specifies the full path name to the log file where audit records will be stored. It must be a regular file."

does this mean that the auditd does not have the function to redirect the logs to a remote hosts.

Ubuntu Servers :: Setup A Webserver Using The EHCP Plugin?

Apr 25, 2010

I am trying to set up a webserver using Ubuntu server with the EHCP plugin. I have it working and can access the EHCP page by using the IP address on my local network (192.168.0.4) So far so good. I then set uo a domain using the Domain add new(custom)from the sidebar. I provided the following info:

domainname - learner
Panel - me
Panel password - me2
Ftp user - DACL
ftp password cullompton

Great I have now got a folder structure including httpdocs for that domain, I can also use filezilla to upload webpages etc to that folder, and have uploaded a page called index.htm One problem remains - what address do I type into the web browser to see the webpage. I've tried 192.168.0.4/learner which is what I expected to work.this will only ever be used as a web server on a local network, never on the WAN.

Ubuntu Networking :: Transfer Files From Cluster To Host And Then Host To Another?

Mar 4, 2010

I am working on a cluster for a molecular dynamics class and I have to edit my FORTRAN code (only the newest and best for me!). In order to get through to the cluster I have to ssh in. The network on which the cluster resides is behind a firewall, so I have to ssh through the firewall into the network first.

this is fine, I can login and move files and folders as needed, including sftp-ing into host 1, then into the cluster so I can transfer files from cluster to host and then host to me. This gets rather tiresome, so it would be nice to edit the files in place.

The problem is that when I access my code with emacs it launches the emacs client on Host 1, with no mouse support. I know the purists will howl about how I should be using keyboard shortcuts, but I am a chemist and not a programmer, so the mouse is very nice for me. Is there any way I can perhaps mount the cluster using sshfs so that when I open my code it launches a local instance of emacs? Sorry if this is the wrong forum, but I thought it was network related.

Networking :: Very Low Network Performance In Host-to-host Connections

Jan 27, 2009

The internal network is behind nat done by the PC Router. The TP Link is recieving wireless signal from outdoors and it has switching and basic routing capabilities. I'm using the PC router for better routing options.PC Router (or R for short) is a triple-booting machine - Linux, FreeBSD and Windows. It has two lan cards - external (ext_if) - 100Mbps Realtek 8139 and internal (int_if) - 1Gbps integrated Realtek 8169.The problem is that all traffic from R to the network is slow - about 5-20K, while the traffic in the oppoiste direction is all right - about 10MB that is fine for 100Mbps cables, NICs and switches. The problem persist no matter the OS the pc R is running.I've tried some debugging on the situation as follows:

- put another PC at the place of R - everything is fine. That exclude the possibility of damaged cables, RJ-45s, switches and etc.
- connected both of the NICs to the Internet while the internal network is being disconnected and they both work fine (no delays)
- traffic shaping is not running
- there is nothing in firewalls except NATing the internal network (and it is working fine). Actually these firewall rules have been operational for more than months and everything was fine untill a week or two ago.
- changed the internal NIC with another
- connected the internal network directly to the TP and all of the PCs are getting good network performance. Then connected the R machine to the TP as well and there was good performance between the internal network PCs and R.
- R has good performance to the TP. In fact everything has good performance directly to the TP (when not connecting trough R).
- the problem persist only between R and machines from the internal network.

Networking :: Iptables Redirect On RHEL 6 ?

Jul 18, 2011

I have a virtual environment, RHEL6 minimal install. On that, I am trying to run Liferay6 on Tomcat6 for the purpose of writing prototype business portals. I used the Liferay+Tomcat bundle downloaded from the Liferay website.

For security reasons, the server can only be accessed through port 80, and Tomcat listens on 8080. (I know I can run it so that it listens on another port, but I'd like it on 8080)

Goal:

Use iptables to forward traffic destined for 80 to port 8080.

What I Did:

Configure nat to forward tcp packets from 80 to 8080:

Code:

List the nat iptable:

Code:

wget to 80 doesn't work:

Code:

What I Already Checked:

Tomcat did start normally. Logs show no errors, and specify that Coyote HTTP/1.1 is initialized on http-8080. I can provide this log if need be.

Tomcat is listening on port 8080:

Code:

Code:

I get the same negative result on the VM on the server as I get on a RHEL6 VM on my laptop.

The iptables method that I described above does in fact work with Liferay6 on Tomcat6 on Ubuntu 10.10.

I have looked at this thread. I appear to have tried everything that was mentioned there.

Actual Question: I would like to know how to effectively forward 80 to 8080 on RHEL6, so that I can access Liferay on Tomcat (listening on 8080) at 80.

Networking :: Ip / Port - Redirect All Traffic

Feb 2, 2010

I have "Server A" with real internet ip 1.2.3.4 (eth0) and lan ip 192.168.1.1 (eth1) There's also "Server B" with lan ip 192.168.1.2 (eth0), I'm running an Apache Web server on "Server B", so I want to redirect all traffic from IP 1.2.3.4 port 80 (Server A) to 192.168.1.2 port 80 (Server B), using the following rule:

[Code]....

iptables -t nat -A PREROUTING -p tcp -d 1.2.3.4 --dport 80 -j DNAT --to 192.168.1.2:80 This actually works pretty good, from internet I can browse ttp://1.2.3.4 But the problem is that if I check the Apache logs, all incoming connections seems to come from 192.168.1.1 instead of showing the real source ip addresses (internet ip's) so this is screwing up all my web stats, I've been looking for hours and hours on how to make a transparent redirect, but can't find any info, I know there must be a way because my old WRT54G router which uses iptables could do it.

Networking :: Redirect Ports To Another Machine On Same LAN

Dec 15, 2009

I have a bit of a strange scenario. I have a machine with a fixed IP (192.168.0.108), running Linux. It has an external IP 99.99.99.8 via a 1:1 NAT on a Cisco ASA/router. Port 3389 (MS RDP) is open for 99.99.99.8. I want my Linux machine to listen on port 3389 and redirect all traffic to that port to a Windows machine (192.168.0.100). In this way, my Linux box is able to respond to requests on all ports, but port 99.99.99.8:3389 connects to Remote desktop on the Windows PC. I do not have access to the Cisco NAT config. I was able to get this setup to work by using an SSH tunnel.

I ran this command on the linux box:
ssh -L 3389:192.168.0.100:3389 ergosteur@192.168.0.108
Any ideas? Perhaps using iptables or something?
