Ubuntu Installation :: Espon Printer Not Detected As A Usb Device
Jan 11, 2010I have a Epson Stylus SX115 All In One Printer which i connected to ubuntu 9.10 the other day. Upon installation the drivers for the stylus SX 115 were not available, but there were drivers for the stylus SX110 which i then installed. Printing is fine although for some reason even though i connect via usb cable the printer is not detected as a external device. I have to pull out the usb cable without unmounting-what should i do?

Jan 26, 2010I have got a wireless network in my house with a router as the hub and my Linux Laptop and Macbook connecting to it. I have got a wireless Kodak printer which the Macbook uses, but they do not have any drivers for Linux. I have enabled ssh for both the laptops and have enabled "Print sharing" on the Macbook. Can I access the printer from the Linux laptop via the Macbook? When I have sshed to the macbook, the kodak printer comes up in the list of printers to choose from...but the printing job just goes to the queue, but does not actually complete. Is this because I have not got the drivers for the linux laptop?

When i connect the printer, Debian doesn't recognize my printer as the Photosmart B109 printer for unknown reason. When i go to the site of HP and search for a driver, it directs me to this site:I've downloaded that latest hplip file as a .run file and installed it. My printer is recognized proparly, but when i try to print a colored image, it comes out black/white. Something is not crrect. Does anyone recognize this problem with this type HP printer?

Oct 19, 2010I am trying to set uamsung clx2160N as a standalone network printer on my home network. It is a printer with standalone network capability and is connected directly to my router and has a static IP number. We have a few Windows computers at home and they had no problem detecting the printer, installing the drivers and working. Unfortunately my Ubuntu computer recognises the printer and I can even access it's setup and diagnositcs through its IP number. However when I try to add it as a printer, drivers for it cannot be located. #ve tried setting it up three ways:1. Using Samsung's own setup package - finds printer and all the details it needs to work but offers no drivers2. Using Ubuntu's printer setup - recognises printer but stalls at Searching for Drivers dialog3. Trying to *** printer using CUPS - no problem finding and recognising printer, but when I come to search for the driver I get Internal Server Error.
I have of course been trying to do all of these as root. That's the limit of my knowledge reached and searches on the net aren't helping me either. The printer works fine directly connected via USB, so the drivers are on the computer somewhere. How do I get them set up to use the printer on the network?

Nov 21, 2010I have managed to install ubuntu server and set it quite nicely to share my files and printers over my network. I have two printers, a Lexmark e232 and a hp C3180 multifunctional printer (i.e. printer+scaner+a copy function). I have no problem installing the Lexmark printer on my windows 7 computers on the network, however, the All in One printer only gets recognized as a printer but there is no way to get it to scan. I have been reading on the web about all in one printers but I don't quite understand what the issues are.
Is there a way for me to get the full functionality of this printer over the network? I think this wouldn't be a problem if there was some sort of software designed by hp that would allow me to add printers that are not directly connected to the computer (via usb) but are shared from another pc on the network.
Ubuntu Installation :: Setup USB Printer On Lucid Without Printer Connection?
Aug 3, 2011I'm setting up a netbook for somebody (in another country!) and one of the last hurdles is the printer setup. I only have the netbook and not the printer with me. I know that the printer is a HP PSC 1215 All-In-One Printer but there seems to be a Catch-22 that I need to have the printer connected in order to be able to set this up using the GUI tools. How do I work around this? As a minimum I just want to enable printing, although scanning would be a bonus.

I have an AirLink101 wireless-n card using the Ralink RT2860 driver (which apparently is not installed in Ubuntu Desktop, but IS installed in Server. attempted modprobe rt2860sta resulted in no such luck, citing a missing server directory.) [URL].... details my struggles to get this card operating in Server. I thought I might have more luck with Desktop, but to no avail. The real question is: WHY would this card work in LiveCD but NOT in Desktop or Server installations?

Debian Configuration :: Wheezy - Detect Printer On One WiFi Network But Not Other
Sep 21, 2015I use a 'wifi hotspot' provided by my mobile (android) phone for internet/email and to connect to my wifi capable HP p1102w printer. Installation and use of the printer worked perfectly until I bought a new phone, again android with 'wifi hotspot' capability. The wifi connection on my new phone works fine for internet and email but it totally fails to detect my printer.
I have tried to detect and connect to the printer using system-config-printer and using the HP utility hp-setup. Both fail to detect the printer on the 'new' wifi network.
The old network connection which detects the printer as expected gives the following output:

Debian Hardware :: WiFi Printer Is Not Working After Upgrade To Jessie
Sep 22, 2014A couple of days ago I followed a guide online in order to install Adobe Reader and this guide recommended a specific package that needed the jessie repository, I added it (unaware the jessie was the name of the new distribution on testing) and so I found myself upgrading to Jessie, which is fine since is working quite alright, but since then I can't sent any document to my wi-fi printer.
I had no problem with Wheezy, I installed two printers: one connected to the usb interface and the other one to the wifi (but is actually the same). With Jessie when I try to print something and select the wi-fi one nothing happens. If i try to add a new one I can't since debian doesn't find it and I can't even delete the old "malfunctioning" one.

May 5, 2011I have WiFi printer, HP DeskJet F4500. If suse firewall is on, yast doesn't see that printer. If I turn firewall off, Yast sees printer and install it just fine. Problem is, that when i start firawall again, yast denies whole printer and turn it off mode in Yast. What firewall rule i have to make to get this work?

Dec 26, 2009I have a problem with a bad entry in my system-config-printer on my notebook computer which I think is interfering with my ability to print. I run fedora 10 on several systems in my house. On one desktop, I have a printer hosted which I think I have successfully setup for wireless network sharing (an HP895) using IPP.My problem seems to be a bad entry in my system-config-printer on my notebook computer which seems to stall when I try to print from applications (Firefox for example.) on the notebook. If I open up "Printing", I have 3 printers listed... one of them is for when the printer is attached directly to the notebook, one of them is the working printer description "printer" and the 3d is the bad entry. If I click on the bad entry to try to delete it, I don't have that option, but If I try to look at the "properties" for that entry, system-config-printer stalls (as do other applications when the printing dialog box starts up, and I have to force them to shut down.)
I will attach some screenshots and a copy of my /etc/cups/printers.conf file.How do I get rid of this "bad entry" in the system-config-printers GUI ? It doesn't seem to exist in the printers.conf file.

May 4, 2011I am running (K)Ubuntu Lucid 10.04 64bit on a Dell Latitude E6400, WiFi Card Intel 5100. Never had any problems with networking. Up to about 2 weeks ago. I do realize there have been quite a few posts with this network adaptor, but non really described the problem I have here.
What happens is that suddenly the WiFi LED on the computer stops blinking, the WiFi connection gets disrupted, and the device is not recognized anymore when checking ifconfig. Only cold restarting the machine helps then... it will work for a while (between 1 and 20 minutes) and then crash again.
On Windows 7 the card works perfectly fine. With Ubuntu 11.04 in Live CD mode I have the same effects (connection crashes after a while). Also tried booting an older kernel, no success.

Aug 5, 2009I bought a HP Photosmart C6380 Printer a few days ago, and i am trying to make it work on my Laptop with Fedora 11 installed on it. Like all the ither posts concerning this problem, when i connect the printer by USB it works without a problem. I can ping the printer with success and i can also access the Web interface of the Printer. So i think that the Printer is connected correctly to my WIFI network. I have tried several things.
- I have tried to install it with CUPS, selected "HP JetDirect", put in the IP-Adress of the Printer, selected the driver for 6300
series. In the URI i had something like "socket://<IP-Adress of the printer>:9100". After that tried to print a test page -> Nothing.
- I tried it with IPP, same result, nothing.
- I also tried, after having read a lot here, to put "http://<IP-Adress of the printer>". After that, i tried to print a test page, and the printer seemed to work. But what i got was a lot of crap, really unreadable things.

- I also tried the CUPS web interface without any result.
- I also tried HPLIP. Downloaded the latest version and installed it. After installation i ran "hp-setup". I tried all the three steps, the only one that worked was step one, USB. For the rest nothing worked. I did not try the printer connected by Ethernet, but i think that this should work, because i tried an HP printer at work an that worked. I have an WIFI access point, so no ad-hoc connection. On my wife's Laptop, where Windows Vista is installed, the printer works without any problem.

Dec 17, 2010I have just installed Fedora 14 on my desktop machine and have just discovered that it can't detect my WiFi card. The card is an Edimax EW-7711In which the makers say will run with Linux. I know that the card works fine with Ubuntu because my brother uses the same card in his Ubuntu machine but he is away until after Christmas so I don't know what he did to make it work other than I know he used ndiswrapper and the Windows drivers that were supplied with the card. I have looked for ndiswrapper in the Fedora repositories but it doesn't appear to be there.

May 20, 2010Canon MX320, MX330, MX860 printer installation on Kubuntu Lucid 10.04 AMD64 bit. I am sure Ubuntu Lucid is similar. Once I upgraded to Lucid 10.04 AMD64 bit I found that getting a Canon Pixma MX printer installed was not going to be easy. So I thought it help others if I posted my experience here. To pull this off you will need both the Debian package, (.deb), and the source package from either
Canon Europe: [URL]... Or Canon Australia: [URL]... NOTE: The only reason to get the source is to access the ppd files. They are in the Debian package but it is a lot more work to walk newbies through unpacking the .deb. Since there are errors in the source code it makes impossible to compile a driver. Therefore, you will need to install the 32bit Debian package and force the architecture, then add the correct printer driver from the ppd file in the source package. While these instructions worked for me there are a few assumption I make which mat affect your outcome. My MX860 has a wireless network connection.
In other words I have no idea if this will or will not work on a USB attached printer. (If someone would be kind enough to post back if they get that configuration working that would be cool.) The other assumption is that the general reader is relatively new to Lunix and the command line interface. The commands were cut and pasted from my working kconsole, so they should work for anyone.Here we go:........
