Feb 24, 2011I am a new user of ubuntu. I seem to have problem connecting to bluetooth. There is a message saying there are no bluetooth adapter. How do I turn on the adapter now that I've switched from windows 7 to ubuntu. My bluetooth was working fine in windows.

Apr 19, 2011I am trying to get my bluetooth adapter to work in RHEL. The adapter is a Kensington Micro (K33902US). The system detects the device, but it fails to find any networks when I do a scan using hcitool. Also, I wrote a small C program to do the same, with the same results (no network found). The bluetooth manager appears in the panel, but when I right-click, the only option I have is to check/uncheck "Discoverable". I have tried restarting bluetooth using "service bluetooth restart" to no avail.I tried borrowing an adapter from a friend (some DLINK) that seemed to work fine for both hcitool and my program. The problem just seems to be in Red Hat's ability to use this particular device.

Dec 22, 2010I have been using ubuntu for a few years now but am a noob when comes to the technical side of things, so apologies for my lack of knowledge.
I am using ubuntu 10.10 on a ZOTAC IONITX-A-U Atom N330 1.6GHz Dual-Core Mini ITX Intel Motherboard and since I have upgraded from 10.04 I no longer have blue tooth capabilities. I have a logitech mx 5500 wireless keyboard and mouse, which uses a bluetooth dongle. This is the strange part as they have both been working until recently.
They both lost their charge and after replacing the batteries in my keyboard it no longer is able to connect. The mouse however works fine, until I dropped it So I bought a microsoft explorer mouse which came with its own bluetooth dongle. Which I plugged in and the mouse works fine.
But when I go to System> Preferences> Bluetooth
I get Bluetooth adapter not present and Your computer does not have any Bluetooth adapters plugged in.
I have spent the last week googling this and can't seem to find any relevant info.
I ran this in terminal code...
Am I wrong in assuming that the logitech and microsoft dongles are being seen?
I have also removed and reinstalled bluetooth and bluetooth manager in the software centre, and the same with synaptic package manager, to no avail.
With both dongles plugged in could this also cause a problem?
Is there another way of starting the bluetooth?

Jan 29, 2010Actually I am using Ubuntu netbook remix in Benq netbook. In that bluetooth is inbuild. When I use this same ubuntu netbook remix as "live usb" this bluetooth works and searches the devices. But after installing ubuntu remix in harddisk I am getting error as "No bluetooth adapter plugged in" I dont know why. So I again checked with the same "live-usb" this time the bluetooth didn't works. Saying the same error which it shows when I boot from hard disk.

All seems relatively well however I've plugged in a Bluetooth USB dongle and nothing has happened - oh well, I didn;t expect it to. Of course I'm used to MS Windows OS plug 'n Play and I know this isn't generally how Linpus Lite OS operates but despite looking around I can't find an explanation on how to activate the Bluetooth adapter. There are instructions and demos on how to add a Bluetooth component to the board but I'm not an engineer, neither professional nor hobbyist, so Im not interested in doing that. I've downloaded the Bluetooth zip file from the Acer Spire One support site it has been installed on the Netbook but there still appears to be no Bluetooth connection.

Nov 2, 2010The bluetooth manager does not detect a bluetooth dongle .trying to use ndiswrapper to fix.I installed device manager and the results are shown below.i downloaded the windows driver suite. It has 4 .exe self extracting driver archives and a setupconfig.ini. The .ini file is below.I was able to extract one of the 32bit archives on a windows machine and it had about 8 .inf files that are titled weird and would not install properly using ndiswrapper probably because im using the 64-bit architecture. there are 2 64bit .exe's in the driver download, but how can i extract them in ubuntu and do i really need to install all 8 .inf files. also do i actually need to make a .inf file? if so how?

Aug 13, 2010I have a minimal lucid install to run XBMC with only xinit x11-xserver-utils installed no GUI. I'm trying to get my Logitech Dinovo Edge working via bluetooth. I've install bluez-utils and can do an hcitool dev and see my bluetooth dongle, and I if I use hcitool scan, and press the connect button on my keyboard, the keyboard shows up with it mac address. It won't connect at this point though, so I have to issue a sudo hidd --connec00:11:22:AA:BB:CC and get it to connect.Unfortunately, if I reboot or turn off the keyboard, it doesn't work again without SSHing in and redoing the steps above. Does anyone have an idea to get my keyboard working at startup?

May 28, 2010I started yesterday off wanting to install this USB wifi adapter on my PC (which is mini-itx so has additional pci slots) [URL] it has the Ralink 3070 chipset. I tried everything I found when googling, nothing came close to working, this was in Fedora12. So I gave up and installed Ununtu 10.04, hoping for better luck there. Ubuntu will recognise the presence of a wifi adapter, here's the output from iwconfig

But it sees no wifi networks and generally won't do anything; I don't think it has the right driver. Rosewill does list a (linux) driver and so does Ralink, but again, neither of these come close to working. has anyone gotten this adapter or chipset to work in ubuntu?

Feb 24, 2010I'm booting from disc on a compaq presario F700. Somehow, I messed everything up and now it's not reading that I have an OS. Which was previously vista. Now, when I boot from disc and try to install no partitions come up. I did open the blasted thing to clean it not too long but as far as I know, nothing dislodged. It is a laptop, btw. So, my kneejerk reaction is that the hard-drive got damaged or knocked loose. I also tried using kill-drive to erase it so I could start fresh, also no Hard drive detected. So, I'm going to try that. In the meantime I have another issue. When booting from disc I can't seem to get the drivers for my wireless adapter to install. I have them. Madwifi for AR5001X but I don't know where to put them via terminal.

Apr 30, 2010I have tried out Lucid Lynx Beta 1 back in march. During the installation I was announced that support for bluetooth was dropped. I installed anyway, thinking it would be back in the Final Release. Meanwhile (between March and April) I reinstalled Karmic because I really needed the bluetooth. I can see in the upgrade that bluetooth still isn't available. What should I do about this? Is there a way to keep Lucid Lynx and bluetooth? Or will I have to stay on Karmic until the end of times?
