Ubuntu Networking :: Cannot Connect To WPA2 Secured Networks After 10.10 Upgrade?

Oct 13, 2010

Unsecured and WEP networks are fine. I do not have a WPA network to test on, but my school's WPA2 Eduroam network does not work. It tries to connect before asking again for my credentials, and this repeats. I'm on 64-bit 10.10 Ubuntu upgraded from a live CD install of 10.04. Laptop model is Acer Aspire 5741-5193. Output of lspci:

Ubuntu Networking :: Can't Connect To Secured Wifi

Apr 24, 2011

Wireless adapter is working OK because I can connect when network is unsecured, but when I try to connect to the secured wifi it just won't accept the password.

I can see available networks in Network Manager but can not connect. No error messages, just no connection.

Is there anything I can try to enable connection to the WEP secured router?

Ubuntu Networking :: Connect To The WPA2 LEAP Network

Apr 17, 2010

My college runs a WPA2 LEAP secured wireless network, and I am having problems connecting to it under Ubuntu. I can connect to it just fine under Windows, just not under Ubuntu. Under Ubuntu I can connect to other networks such as my home WEP secured wireless network, so it shouldn't be a hardware or driver issue.

When I do connect to the WPA2 LEAP network it recognizes the network and tries to connect, it pops up the login box for me to enter my username and password, but after I click connect it pops back up again about 10 seconds later. It pops up like this about 3 times total, then after the third time it stops trying to connect and the Wireless Network Disconnected message is shown.

SO I click Connect to Hidden Wireless Network, and this window pops up. I put in my network name, the security type, and password. It acts like it is connecting, the wireless icon is going up and down. But then another window pops up, saying Authentication required by wireless network and the down arrow is grayed out. Fedora Networking :: Unable To Connect To WPA2 Network

May 9, 2009

O currently have 2 USB WiFi adaptors: a Linksys WUSB54G v4 and a D-Link DWA-110. Both these USB adaptors worked extremely well in Windows: they could connect to any network: unsecured, WEP and WPA1/2I have tested these adaptors in DreamLinux, OpenSUSE and Mandriva: in these 3 distributions, i could use both adaptors to connect to my home's WPA2 network. Both adaptors also work well in Fedora 10.In Fedora 11 Alpha though, its a different thing: only the D-Link is able to connect to the home WPA2 network. My Linksys WUSB54Gv4 can 'see' the network, but when i enter in the WPA2 key, it takes forever to try to negotiate a connection before timing out and disconnecting.

Ubuntu Networking :: Ralink RT2860 Card Will Not Connect To WPA2 In Lucid

May 8, 2010

After installing Lucid, I noticed that my Ralink RT2860 card would not connect to my home network using WPA2 despite the network being visible and of good strength. So I followed the guide at [url] in order to install the newest Ralink drivers.

After installation, same issue. That is, the card will connect to my a/b/g/n network if I leave it unprotected, but it will not connect to the same network if switch it to WPA2. After being given the passphrase, the wireless icon on the indicator applet shows that it is trying to connect, but after awhile it fails. Does anyone know why the built-in driver and also the official Ralink driver are no good for WPA2 in Ubuntu 10.4 for my RT2860 card?

Ubuntu Networking :: Can't Connect To WPA2-Personal After Update To Lucid Lynx

Jun 24, 2010

I updated to the latest version of Ubuntu and before I could connect to the network "krafft" that is a WPA2-Personal protected network. If I go into Windows and change security to none I can connect with Ubuntu, but not when it's protected. After a bit of time logged in without network a dialogue pops up and looks almost like this :but "Focus" is replaced with "krafft" and the password is something else.I know that the password is right and the network worked perfectly before update.I got an USB wireless network receiver from D-Link and the chipste is ralink rt2870.In the previous Ubuntu distribution you had to write "blacklist rt2800usb" in /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf but it won't work with or without that blacklist. When I updated I saw some message about the network manager(at least I think so) so maybe the problem is in that.

Ubuntu Networking :: WiFi With Wpa2 Encryption Doesn't Connect On Startup

Dec 27, 2010

I have xbmc, a media center shell that runs on ubuntu. I am trying to set up a laptop to run it and be a full time media center. so far it works great, I installed xbmc live, but the only issue is I have a wep2 protected wireless router and the wifi does not connect automatically.

I have it set up and am using wpa_supplicant once those commands are run the wifi works great.I am a novice in linux in general, and can not seem to get this to work on startup, can anyone point me in the right direction on this? I haven't been able to find the xbmc start up script if one exists, I figured adding those lines to it might work, does this sound like a reasonable approach? if anyone knows where that is and how it is defined to be launched on start-up i would appreciate it(I guess this is getting into the general Linux knowledge but still good info)

Ubuntu Networking :: Can't Connect To New Networks

I have an hp dm1z and ubuntu 10.10 64bit. After I suspend (close the lid) and wake it up (open the lid) at a different location with a network connection (wired or wireless), my system always fails to connect. I need to reboot and then it sees the network and connects fine. I have tried /etc/inet.d/networking restart, but nothing changes. The only exception to this rule are two networks that have WPA security settings and are stored. I can always switch between those two. I have tried ifconfig eth0 up & down and restart networking. I have also tried to connect manually (dhclient) and no success. None of these work. I am including the output of lshw -C network.

Ubuntu Networking :: Cannot Connect To Unencrypted Wireless Networks

Mar 23, 2010

I have a machine running Xubuntu [2.6.22-14-generic]. I have been trying to get this machine connected to wireless for ages, and I'm having another stab at it. So far I have install ndiswrapper and loaded the driver for a Linksys wireless adapter. The output of 'ndiswrapper -l' reports:

Code:

wusb11v4 : driver installed
devoce (13B1: 000B) present

So as far as my newbie knowledge goes, I believe that step to be completed, correct? When I turn on the machine is type in

Code:

sudo sh
modprobe ndiswrapper

to get the card running to where it will appear in the iwconfig dialog. The commands 'iwlist wlan0 scan' will list all the wireless networks around me, but I have been un-able to connect to any network, even unencrypted ones. I have tried to connect both through Wicd and command-line to no avail. For command-line I have used:

Code:

sudo ifconfig wlan0 down
sudo dhclient -r wlan0
sudo ifconfig wlan0 up

[code]....

With the final 'dhclient wlan0' commands, the following is returned:

Code:

There is already a pid file /var/run/dhclient.pid with pid 134519120
Internet Systems Consortium DHCP Client V3.0.5
Copyright 2004-2006 Internet Systems Consortium

[code].....

I have attempted to go ahead a step further and connect to an encrypted wireless network, however, I receive the same message, as well as another error message upon trying to enter the key, with the following code:

Code:

iwconfig wlan0 key s:"thekey"

Error for wireless request "Set Encode" (8B2A) : SET failed on device wlan0 ; Invalid argument.

Ubuntu Networking :: Detect Wireless Networks But Cannot Connect

Aug 1, 2010

I have a WLAN Driver Azure Wave AW-NU222 Wireless LAN Card in my Medion computer.

After installing Ubuntu it seems to detect the wireless networks in my area. However, when I try to connect to my network, it tries for several minutes and then times out with no error message. I have set up the credentials and also tried removing the encryption (WPA-PSK) from the network itself, but it still doesn't connect.

Connect via an Ethernet cable is fine, and I know that the network is good because I can connect via my Windows Laptop and various other wireless devices.

I suspect it's due to drivers, but I'm having trouble downloading a driver which I can try and install using Ndiswrapper. The Medion website just a windows executable when I try and download the driver specific to my machine when I really need the .inf file.

Ubuntu Networking :: Cannot Connect To UNencrypted Wireless Networks?
