May 30, 2010I'm having trouble opening roms on Mupen64. I've installed Mupen64 and downloaded roms, but when I select them to be opened Mupen just freezes up.

Oct 14, 2010just want to report "Right Mouse Click Freeze" on Ubuntu 10.10. When I click on anything with my right mouse button to open options menu it freezes and does not open menu. Sometimes when I shake my mouse left/right a bit it opens that menu, but this does not work always. It seems like xserver issue, but I'm not sure since I'm not expert in linux yet. It's very annoying issue that I would like to resolve asap.
My System Specs:

Jan 4, 2010My firefox freezes when i open it. The buttons doesn't respond. After some time it seems to freeze the whole system. I had firefox 3.5.6 so i thought it might me solved after uninstalling and installing the firefox again. But that did not help. So i am using other browser.

Jul 18, 2010When I insert a CD, the system no longer offers to automount it and CDs no longer show up in the list of disks on the left side of Dolphin windows. USB keys still work properly and I can still manually mount CDs through the command line? Was there some tweak to the HAL rules that disabled CD/DVD automounting and is there any way to fix this?

Feb 1, 2010I'm running UNR Karmic on an EeePC 1008HA and I'm trying to move my save files for one of my N64 roms to my main desktop. The problem is, I can't find where Mupen64Plus stores these save files, and the .mupen64plus folder won't show up at all in my home folder, and even on my file system. Note #1: I am looking for the actual save files, not save states, although that would be nice. Note #2: Hidden files and folders view was turned on.

Aug 10, 2011I installed Fedora 15 last week, on my main PC, and I absolutely love it. Defintely my favourite operating system. Now I have a few questions. I thought I would put them all in one thread, instead of making seperate ones. I did search before I posted, and I cant seem to find any solution to my problems. So here it goes.
First question, I am using evolution for my e-mail program/client. My email addresses are all hosted by hotmail. Now I have set them all up correctly, but cant seem to send e-mails(I recieve them perfectly fine). I am using the "smtp.live.com" server, and using SSL encryption. I have tried messing with the settings but have had no luck. Has anyone figured out how to fix this?
Second question, I play minecraft frequently, and I am currently starting the program via terminal [java -jar /home/username/minecraft.jar], which works flawlessly. However it is too slow(open terminal, type it in. I need a simple click), is there any other way to start minecraft?
Third and last question, What is the best way to close minecraft? I notice if I just close it(via right click, and close, or clicking the X) it freezes and stays open for a long time. Is there any better way to close it?
Ubuntu Installation :: Roms "cd/dvd" Stop Read'n After Installation
Jul 26, 2010I donate my time for an organization that rebuilds old discarded PC's from either person upgrading or replace due to PC failure and business for same reason. At one time we used to load Windows XP as the OS. Due to licensing problems we have started loading Ubuntu 10 as the OS. We have noticed an increasing amount of rom's that after installing Ubuntu 10 the rom's stop reading installation disc, data and music disc. We never experienced this problem when we installed Win XP. We have for a couple of PC's reinstalled XP over Unbuntu to see if rom's are bad,and after installation roms played all types of disc. My question is why or what is causing such an increasing amount of roms "cd/dvd" to stop working after installation of Ubuntu and what can we do to correct this problem? We realize there are some that were bad and didn't work even under XP installation that didn't work even from the beginning of installation those we replaced then stopped working after Ubuntu installation.

Jun 27, 2011We are having a cluster with couple of disk servers, compute nodes and a head node. Disk server is nfs mounted on all the compute and head nodes.
The problem is that if any of the disk servers hangs, it freezes rest of the cluster too which is dangerous. Ideally, cluster should not care about the hanged server and run without any problem except files from that server is not visible.
Is there any way I could avoid the problem of freezing cluster because of one hanged server?

When I try to open any nfs-mounted file using OpenOffice, I get a pop-up window titled "Document in Use". The text of the message is:
"Document file 'abcde.odt' is locked for editing by:
Unknown User
Open document read-only or open a copy of the document for editing." I then have three options - <Open Read-Only>, <Open Copy>, & <Cancel> If I cp any of these files from the mounted directory to my home dir (not mounted), I can open them without problem.Also, my firefox & thunderbird date are in this mounted directory as well (sym links to ~dan/.mozilla & ~dan/.thunderbird). Both of these apps hang when trying to open, leaving two processes behind that need to be manually killed. Again, cp'ing the data out of the nfs-mounted dir onto a local dir resolves the issue, so I am 100% confident there is nothing missing or corrupted in the firefox &/or thunderbird data...

server:/nfs/dan/Documents /home/dan/Documents nfs defaults 0 0
relevant entry in server's /etc/exports:

How do I get it to stay? My idea is to have the keyboard shortcut "ctrl+alt+del" open a .sh file with the contents "ps ax". Then it would be just like having a task manager; the terminal would open with "ps ax" already executed, and all I would have to do is kill the process number.

Apr 14, 2010I have sendmail running on my centOS 4.6. My lamp server also runs on it. I want to send mail through php mail function. when i execute php page, which fires the mail function, it takes so much long tim1 say even 1 minute, and at last displays that message sent successfully. Suppose, destination address is [URL].... I did not get any mail there. My server is running in LAN. I checked the status of sendmail, it shows me that it ios running. when i issue "nmap localhost" it shows me that SMTP port 25 is open, but when i issue "nmap myserver" (192.168.1.20 myserver ( written in hostfile)), it does not show that SMTP port is open.
I checked the /var/log/maillog, one person in my previous post advice me to see that. There it shows that message is accepted for delivery...but i do not get any mail in my destination, even not in spam folder. One more confusion is that, in my case my server is in LAN and if I am at all enable to open the SMTP port on it, does i need to open SMTP port on my router (which connects my LAN to internet) also needs to open? I think no, because SMTP is application layer protocol, it will wrap my mail in IP packet, which router just need to forward. am i right?
