I have a rocketfish RF-NBCAM webccam but it doesnt seem to work as it should be, the image is dark and the blue light infront of it that helps with low light enviroments is not working. i have found some drivers for other ubuntu distros but i have the dependencies trouble.
View 4 RepliesWhen i try to install Fedora 15 on a clean machine it freezes as soon as the pixelated load bar with the white, light blue and dark blue colors show.
I have tried several different versions of Fedora (64bit and 32bit) and have tried to burn it to a CD and/or DVD (For the larger version) and copying it to a usb pen with universal linux usb, liveUSB creator (from Fedora) and last one i don't remember the name on.
I enjoy using vim from lxterminal with the black background, as well as awesome with its dark theme. I configured xfe manually to be darkish, and i use darklooks as a GTK theme to suit it as well. I could say all my desktop looks pretty dark, which my eyes thank me for. I also use redshift.But problems come along when surfing the web. Most web pages (including this one) have very bright styles. They are not the problem themselves, but switching from my windows hurts my eyes since it's a quick change to a much brighter screen.What would you do, either:
1. Use everything with a brighter background and putting the screen brightness a bit lower. (changing the GTK theme to clearlooks, using lxterminal with a white background, etc.)
2. Use some color theme with uzbl so that pages would look much darker. (like when you set manually the text and background colors in Firefox/Iceweasel)
I would myself go with the second one if most pages wouldn't look that bad when modified that way. For example, many pages use non-transparent images with white backgrounds on white pages, so if you change the background to black not only it looks horrible but it too is a mess.
Just upgraded to 10.04. Screen is now unusable. It's like looking at it through a blue filter. It seems to be averaging the brightness. if there is a large dark area of screen real estate the paler sections getbrighter.The very bizarre thing is, if I switch user, whilst the theme is different, the brightness problem is gone...
View 1 Replies View RelatedDespite being warned from a friend of mine who works for Intel that the new version of Ubuntu 11.04 sucked? I upgraded from 10.10 which worked perfectly fine and did everything that I wanted it to except work with my COBY MP3 player which is what I hoped 11.04 would do. It all worked great until I rebooted. I previously had the main screen on the left where all of the menus are and the right screen was the 2nd monitor.
Once it rebooted it let me login and loaded the desktop but the main screen is now on the right with that stupid application bar going up the side, all of my folders, etc. are all there but NOTHING is clickable, even the icons up in the right corner where you logout, etc. will not do anything other than highlight that you have clicked on them, the hard drive light flickers for a few moments then nothing.
Also the left hand screen is completely blank unless I move the mouse cursor through it. If I just leave the computer sitting there eventually the screens go dark and the monitor lights start flashing like it is supposed to but if I wiggle the mouse the screens come back on and the mouse is there but there is no login prompt to let me log back in. Pardon my French but this OS is a piece of <bleep> and sucks just like I was told.
I installed Ubuntu Ultimate, everything is fine but the desktop color is ugly, I changed theme but some background is still ugly, its default colors are all dark blue.

View 13 Replies View RelatedI have a Hewlett-Packard HP Pavilion dv6000. I had no issues before the upgrade, but after, my wireless driver refuses to turn on the wireless at all. I've seen in most of the posts, people can see the wireless networks but not access them. I can't even get my little orange wireless (off) light to turn blue (on). The "additional drivers" option in "administration" was a bust and I've tried reinstalling the kernel from my original disk iso.

I'm trying to produce some screenshots of the screen in which there's a window playing a video in avi format. The problem is whenever I take a shot, the video window appears 'solid blue' in the output image. Is there any way or program with which I can capture the current frame of the video
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am unable to boot my laptop in the usual way. The fedora emblem in the centre of the screen appears and starts to turn from white to dark blue in the usual way. When it is almost complete it stops.
In order to make the machine boot i hit escape and a message says leaving interactive startup mode. At this point the machine continues to start up.
When i do manage to get it to boot i get the following message repeated many times:
I should also add... The laptop will not close down, once i click switch off the screen turns blue and displays the fedora emblem in the centre. At the top right text says "Shutting Down" but at this point the system hangs.
In Fedora-14, how do I set the start-up screen to solid black-splash instead of the light-blue?

The light for the wifi toggle button constantly flashes between blue and orange (normally meaning the wifi card is on or off). Does anybody know how I can fix this?
I found drivers for the laptop, both the basic and the webcam. The problem is that image is very dark. On my other OS i don't have this issue. PS: My Laptop is = Asus f5rl

Then the terminal turned into a light blue background that says "Package Configuration" with a grey text box titled "Configuring sun-java-jre" and then has the java license agreement.I pressed enter assuming that would accept the agreement but it did not. How do I accept the license agreement so the installation can continue...?

I've had similar issues with other themes and Firefox's URL bar before.
I upgraded my lappy to FC10 and I boot to console mode. The blue sun image comes up there, I can get rid of it by hitting escape a couple of times but I want to disable it completely. It's messing up my desire to boot with the framebuffer.

I did a which db01env and it says it is not found even though /u02/bin/oracle is included in the PATH environment variable. I believe this is because db01env is not executable and the which command only checks for executables, is that a correct assumption/guess?

I am trying to setup a firewall using Centos 5.5. The machine has 2 NICs, one connecting to the ISP/Modem and the other connected to a DIR-655 wireless router. The nic is connecting to the internet port on the router.
I do not want DHCP on the Firewall machine but on the wireless router.
[ISP/Modem]<--->[machine eth0]<--->[machine eht1]<--->[DIR-655 internet port]
IP from ISP Dynamic 192.168.1.1 192.168.1.2
IP's on the DIR-655 LAN will be 124.168.0.0/24 network lets say.
I have setup routes on the eth0 192.168.0.0/24 and 124.168.0.0/24
and added 124.168.0.0/24 to eth1.
I can ping eth0 and eth1 but cannot ping 192.168.1.2.
this setup is not actually connected to the internet so I disabled iptables to try testing the ping and still no good.
I found a webcam lying around, i installed cheese, and it works.... but looks awful. Roommate had it set up on windows it pictures looked much better. Its just a small HP webcam (prob 1.3 MP), but pics should be better than they are. Max resolution is 352x288, pics are very dark, and barely has color.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI must have inadvertently changed a color setting in Ubuntu. Suddenly, the color in all video that I play is distinctly blue (human skin is shades of blue and green). This happens to multiple videos in both VLC and Movie Player. It does not happen when I play the same videos on VLC in Windows. Pictures and all other graphics appear completely normal. I am still quite new to Ubuntu and I've never encountered anything like this before. I have no idea where to start
View 3 Replies View RelatedToday while watching a video on my PC I noticed some white sparkles or spots appearing at the dark/blackish areas of the video.
The first thing that came to my mind was that the video may be corrupted so I tried another one. But the same thing happened with it too.
Then I changed the video driver of Smplayer from vdpau to xv but the same thing.
Then I tried playing those videos with vlc but those white things appeared there as well.
Here is an example of the problem. I have circled the areas with green.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen trying to playback DVDs in VLC media player, I have to switch the video output driver to get any playback.If I leave it on "Default" (which I think is defaulting to "XVideo Extension Video Output"), I get a solid green or blue screen (which I also get with "Xvideo Extension Video Output")If I switch it to "OpenGL Video Output", I get proper DVD playback but it is kind of pixelated and ugly.If I switch it to "X11 Video Output", I get DVD playback that is very crisp and sharp, the image quality is great.unfortunately, the colors are completely messed up and the blue is completely saturated.I've played with the color settings (especially the Hue setting), but I can't get the colors to look right.

When playing dvd's, vob files and wmv files, the image comes with high contrast colors ,very intense red/green/blue. very dark too. I have vlc 1.1.4 installed, using ubuntu 10.10, libdvdcss2 installed. for the rest of the video formats it seems to work fine. any ideas on what should I start debugging?

View 5 Replies View RelatedAfter installing all the codecs etc for restricted formats as well as the ATI video card drivers all videos appear very blue. I cannot seem to find anything on here or on the net that would suggest a work around.
This only seems to be the case in VLC, others seem to be OK.
My speakers are making continuous slight buzz sounds. I don't know why this is happening but when i am making my sound to mute all, the sound goes off. When I hear properly, it seems to be the sound of the hard-drive spinning sound, I couldn't under from where it is coming, its happening from past 4-5 days.
