Ubuntu Multimedia :: Remove Unwanted Downloads From Nicotine / Nicotine Crashed?

Using Nicotine+ I accidentally downloaded about 11000 files from an user who's evidently too busy to properly organize his archive, and got all his stuff stored in only one big folder.
Nicotine obviously crashed, and I'm not able to open it anymore. When I launch the program, it immediately freezes, and I can do nothing but force its quit. I tried to remove and reinstall the program, but the problem persists. So I was wondering if there's a way to remove the downloads from the list outside Nicotine, editing some files.

I've recently installed Nicotine+ (v.1.2.14 edit: v.1.2.15 doesn't work either) and cannot connect to either the old server (port 2240) or the new server (port 2242). Nicotine seems to get stuck with the message, "connected to server server.slsknet.org:2240, logging in..."
I've tried museekd and the related clients as well (Murmur and Museeq+) and neither of those seem to be able to connect as well. Neither does any version of soulseek I've tried to run in wine (157NS13c, 157NS13e, 156c), though I allow that that could be a different problem entirely.
I don't believe it's a problem with my ports because I can connect to soulseek on my windows machine with no extra setup, and the ports I use pass the port status test within nicotine+ itself.

I' trying to uninstall nicotine+ 1.2.14 with no success. I first noticed there was something wrong when everytime I install a package there was an error with nicotine+.I've tried to uninstall it many times but the setup is interrupted.Is there a way to uninstall this manually? I was using Jaunty 9.04 and recently upgrade to Karmic 9.10I'm using a Compaq Mini 311c 1020SA Netbook.

I'm running Ubuntu 9.10 on an HP desktop. I listen to a lot of music and sometimes I can't always find what I want, so I use Nicotine+ (a Soulseek client) to find more obscure stuff. I also use it because it lets me see what bit-rate the files are.Today I entered in the search bar: "the tired sounds of stars of the lid". I would get search results, but I would also get this nasty little message in the logbelow:"pynicotine.slskmessages.FileSearchResult unpack requires a string argument of length 4"After many of these messages show up in my log, Nicotine+ immediately closes.I have absolutely no idea what's happening here.

Frostwire and Nicotine + they both have outdated RPM's for 10.x that dose not support 11.3. They have newer .deb files. What would I have to do to install a .deb file. Navigate to the file using CD (change dir) and then? Model: Toshiba L505-ES3045 (Intel i3, 4gb Memory, OpenSuse 11.3/Windows 7, Intel HD Graphics)

i got opensuse 11.2 (gnome) and created a hidden volume with truecrypt on it. i would like to install nicotine on the hidden volume now,an only run nicotine while it is mounted. i only know how to install stuff with yast, i have no idea how to handle the terminal. i tried but its more like stumbling around. yast always puts the program into the standard menu where i dont want it to be. and by the way,how to disable the autostandby on my monitor? i tried already, but it didnt work)

There are these shortcuts in the GTK3 file chooser: [URL] ....
With the exception of "desktop" which I included in the red box by mistake, I don't want those shorcuts to be there. I've even deleted most of those folders from my home directory because I have no use for them, but the shortcuts remain even after the folders are gone.
How to remove/disable these shortcuts? And while I'm at it, I notice that it's not using my selected icon theme for those icons. Any way to make it use my choice of icon theme?

I am currently waiting about 10min already for Fedora to finish downloading whatever-it-is-it-downloads after issuing a simple 'Query'. This is bearable when my BB-connection is performing. Unfortunately, like right now, it isn't - between 10-50kB/s - and the wait is excruciating!
So, why does Fedora seem to download the complete files database at least once every 24hrs if there's an update/query issued, and not just the 'differences'? And how do I prevent it from doing so? Ubuntu arguably has access to many more files but never pulls this stuff. Fedora would appear to be completely unusable without a broadband connection! And in the time it has taken me to type this, Fedora continues to download its update at a rate of 10-30kB/s...

Ive managed to get myself in a bit of a hole through fears of destroying my WinXP on a new dual boot installation. I�ve been using Ubuntu (10.04 lts) alone on an old machine which died, so I thought I�d just move the hdd to my main machine & dual boot it with XP.
I booted from the 10.04 lts CD to set this up, I let it do as it suggested & assumed it would see the existing Ubuntu installation & modify it to dual boot with Win XP. Which it did except I now have two instances of 10.04 on the second hdd as it added a second partition for the new. Leaving the already installed 10.04 alone. I saw no options other than the advanced partitioning which I did not look at.
How please can I correct this & go back to having just one instance of 10.04 on the Ubuntu disk to dual boot to � I am sure there must be an easy way. I have nothing on the Ubuntu disk I need to preserve. I know nothing about Linux command line.

I've tried installing the BBC iplayer desktop, and am currently working my way through the maze of adobe air installer etc.
I wondered if it is possible to view the downloaded programs in a different viewer. I've got both Movie Player and VLC media player installed, but they will both only play for 1/2 second, then the program closes.
Is it possible, or must I persevere with BBC desktop iplayer ?

Just built myself an HTPC from scratch and installed Ubuntu 10.10 on it (using XBMC for now). I'm familiar with Linux and have been dabbling with it for many years but in the end my main computer runs OS X.Trying to modify a script I found elsewhere that will auatomagically rename and move downloaded TV shows into a preexisting file hierarchal system. I have an automator function on my Mac that was put together for PLEX but it will obviously not run in Ubuntu.Here's what I've got so far. Remind you I'm not much of a programmer:

This is more times I have encountered, with my browsers - Epiphany, Iceweasel,. GNU/Linux Debian SID. Though it is not consistent - on and off. I don't know how to recreate the environment. But though it says, it is downloading but when I go to the folder/directory, it's not there....this is frustrating as sometimes my download takes a while to find out that after it download, nothing is there. litterally nothing.Maybe it's in a temp folder but I don't know where to look for it -- (Epiphany).

My Banshee Media Player just crashed, the window to force quit didn't appear, so I opened a terminal and typed "ps aux | grep banshee" to close it using the kill command. I got this output

When i log into to a non root(user) mode, i am always greeted by a small terminal window before the desktop starts up. Also, after desktop starts a new window opens which displays the contents of my windows desktop.
I am unable to stop this from happening. I am running Ubuntu 10.10(32 bit) along with Windows 7(64 bit) on different partitions.

I've setup pam_usb to allow me to log in with just my usb drive. This works fine, save for one issue. Lucid was working okay for a few weeks. I believe this issue came up anew in the past few days after a recent system update. The (desktop) system when idle for x amount of time (likely > 1 hour) just shuts down while I am off doing something else. That is bad when downloading a large file that has to be started from scratch again (826 Mb of an 875 Mb file).
I have had to revert back to Hardy (kept in a separate partition) in order to get these wanted downloads. But I do a lot of downloading of film files, so this will be an ongoing issue until I can somehow correct it. I went through the screen-saver options/power management settings, found nothing unusual there, though I am not real certain of all the terminology there.

Evolution is presenting many incoming email messages as double-spaced when they weren't written that way. The unwanted double-spacing is also retained in replies, which show the original messages as having repeated carriage returns.How can this be prevented so that Evolution renders the messages as they were written?

I'm new to Ubuntu so bear with me. I installed 9.10 from a CD and it looks fine and works OK wired. However, my wireless keeps picking up a connection at home via my Linksys router that is not mine and I can't get around it, blacklist it or delete it. No matter what I do it keeps showing back up as an AutoConnection. It is the same type of router as mine but the security is different (I use WPA-Personal and the offender is WEP). How can I permanently blockdisableetc the extra connection? I can't get on my home network until the bad autoconnection is gone. More info: I use an IBM R40 into which I installed a Toshiba mini-PC wireless card. I know it works as I have used it to connect to other wireless networks other than my own. I prefer to leave my router configured as it is due to other users at home and the configs I use for them. I read about WICD if that is a possibility, but actually connecting wirelessly is not the issue.
