But if I try sending a photo from mobile to laptop, it says connection failed every time. Both laptop and mobile are able to recognize each other and I can pair with the laptop successfully.

Is there anyway to change the speed of it or do I have to keep with GPRS at the moment?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI just want to tell everyone how good the Garmin/Asus A10 mobile phone is as an internet modem.I am in Australia and Mobile internet is an expensive thing to have. cheapest is dodo but i had a few problems trying out a friends usb modem.Anyway i was in the market for a Gps phone and discover this one. it is Android phone and pretty cheap so far it is very good gps, camera, mp3, and phone is excellent.BUT here is the clincher. when you plug it into the computer, the phone screen lights up and gives you 3 options.

Only one thing with Rhythmbox and my HTC mobile phone running Win mobile 6.1 is annoying: The mobile device is never recognised as a music player nor as a usb device so I can't load music via Rhythmbox. Ubuntu recognises it as umts-modem which I like and would like to maintain. But is there any way to load music on it at the same time? I've already tried different settings on the devices usb-to-pc settings menu, but this only switches on and off the modem functionality but doesn't make ubuntu recognise the device as usb or music player.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have two Desktops. Both running Fedora 9 and connected to each other with a crossover cable. I have a GPRS connection via a USB bluetooth Dongle. I can connect thru rfcomm on Kppp. Assigned static ip's 192.168.10.1/2 and can ping from one computer to the other. So far so good but now I want to share the internet connection between the two computers and run into a maze of gateways and DNS and iptables and am spinning around with no clues. Some of the things I do not understand are
1. What gateway does one assign when your computer directly connect to the internet through a GPRS and not through a NIC or router??
2. When I try to load the shared NFS folder, why does it say "could not load the location: internal error"?
3. Is there somewhere I could get a step-by step instruction??

I want to configure a Gprs dial up connection through my Nokia N91 to surf internet in openSUSE. I am using openSUSE 11.2 installed as a guest OS in ORACLE VIRTUALBOX (virtual pc) in windows host. I connected my mobile to openSUSE using a data cable and the phone modem is detected. I configured Wvdial.conf file and used Wvdial to connect to the internet. After performing many changes I finally managed to get a successful connection, when still I cannot surf any webpage in the browser.
The only error that I get during wvdial connection is about Namespace (DNS) failed. I am using a AIRTEL (India) gprs internet connection.

It has a vga port on it (in addition to an hdmi) and i would like to see if it is possible to connect it to the s-video or the rca ports on my big CRT television set. View 3 Replies View RelatedOff and on for some time now I've been using a Toshiba x205-s9359 laptop with (11.4/KDE4.6) during the day as a general purpose laptop using the onboard LCD and in the evenings to run XBMC to play movies on a TV using an HDMI cable (no cable TV on our little island & Satellite TV is poor in the rainy season).
The video card is an NVidia GeForce 8700M GT with NVidia's proprietary driver v. 275.09.07 (installed the "hard way").

Now the Audio/Video both go to the TV via HDMI if it's connected prior to boot, if not the laptop works normally.
If you try this with XBMC don't forget to go to set the XBMC settings to "HDMI" as needed.
I have two dual-booted Windows/Ubuntu machines--one desktop and one laptop--and both have SSH servers installed. At home, I use port-forwarding to connect to these servers externally.
I am interested however, in being able to connect to my laptop's ssh server no matter where it is. I am interested in this partly due to anti-theft precautions and partly just curiosity. I know there is anti theft software that lets you remotely modify your computer--from ANY IP address--and I want to know if you can do this with SSH. Imagine someone stole my laptop and connected to the internet in a random location. Assuming i somehow know this ip address, is there any way I could SSH to it? (I doubt the router would forward port 22 or whatever to this computer...)

My service provider has not provided us with a username and a password. It works fine without these on the mobile and a laptop with windows. I hope I am not the only one (so it will be fixed), but since I haven't found any others having the same problem yet, I am not so confident.I started using mobile broadband, via a HUAWEI E1762 HSPA USB stick since Jaunty. I've had the same problem in jaunty as I do now in Karmic. Although in Karmic, i've had additional problems (that problem i've found listed as a known bug).The problem is that when I get my mobile broadband to connect, it is sometimes, somehow, not fully connected. Symptoms are as follows:
1. panel icon shows connected and good strength (good)
2. skype connects, and I can chat and voip (good)
3. ping does not work (bad)
