Oct 23, 2010I am trying to connect my q75 micromax mobile with my computer as modem using wvdial. But I could not connect as modem. I insalled wvdial, gnome-ppp and mode switch through synaptic package manager.
This is the message I got from terminal window. After this, there is no connection. I closed the terminal window using ctrl+C command. My mobile is dual sim phone. I want to connect through one ISP provider for GPRS. How to set this in wvdial configuration file.

Now I installed or updated to 9.10 version and still cant get wifi started. I cant even turn it on or find networks etc. Im confused bad.
Also when updating I have lost bluetooth. How do I get both of these working..

Feb 5, 2011Im using a Samsung R420/R470 laptop with Broadcom bluetooth and a Prolink PMO624B mouse.My mouse works when I add it as a new device, but if I off the mouse and on it again, the mouse does not auto connect. I have to press and hold the connection button under the mouse and reconnect to the mouse.The mouse says that it is linux compatible, so I guess its a problem with my bluetooth drivers.

Mar 5, 2010I have a nifty new headset (a JawBone icon�the noise cancellation is incredible) and I've successfully connected it to my Karmic laptop (64 bit, for the off chance it makes a difference). The trouble is, I only occasionally want to connect it to my laptop; I mostly use it with my mobile 'phone.
The two devices fight over my new toy a lot, and invariably the laptop wins, contrary to what I want. It seems a pain to have to rediscover the headset every time I want to use VIOP or whatever, so is there a way to add a device to Karmic's Bluetooth list, but not have it connect whenever it sees it?

I have Blueman Device Manager that enabled SPP (Serial Port) and it says :

Nov 2, 2010The bluetooth manager does not detect a bluetooth dongle .trying to use ndiswrapper to fix.I installed device manager and the results are shown below.i downloaded the windows driver suite. It has 4 .exe self extracting driver archives and a setupconfig.ini. The .ini file is below.I was able to extract one of the 32bit archives on a windows machine and it had about 8 .inf files that are titled weird and would not install properly using ndiswrapper probably because im using the 64-bit architecture. there are 2 64bit .exe's in the driver download, but how can i extract them in ubuntu and do i really need to install all 8 .inf files. also do i actually need to make a .inf file? if so how?

Nov 20, 2010I am trying to get pppd/chat working with an internal Wavecom modem, but PPP terminates with message "LCP terminated by peer". But, same pppd/chat configuration is working on my own Linux OS with Huawei 3G modem. I tried several options to get it working, but no luck. The problem is happening during the PPP negotiation with the Modem:

But this only mean that there was a failure during PPP setup between Linux and the Modem. I tested the modem with manual AT commands via minicom to further investigate to problem, but could not even activate the PDP context:

Aug 8, 2010I have a Samsung phone (S3310) and I'm trying use it as a modem to access the net on 10.04. I set up a Mobile broadband connection (under network connections) and I'm pretty sure the settings are correct because it works on a Nokia phone with the same service provider.
When I plug in my Data Cable and set it to Samsung PC Studio mode, my phone isn't detected as a modem. I just tried wvdialconf and it says "No modem detected". I'm guessing that maybe I'm missing some drivers here. what I can do get the phone detected as a modem.

Apr 25, 2009I have two Desktops. Both running Fedora 9 and connected to each other with a crossover cable. I have a GPRS connection via a USB bluetooth Dongle. I can connect thru rfcomm on Kppp. Assigned static ip's 192.168.10.1/2 and can ping from one computer to the other. So far so good but now I want to share the internet connection between the two computers and run into a maze of gateways and DNS and iptables and am spinning around with no clues. Some of the things I do not understand are
1. What gateway does one assign when your computer directly connect to the internet through a GPRS and not through a NIC or router??
2. When I try to load the shared NFS folder, why does it say "could not load the location: internal error"?
3. Is there somewhere I could get a step-by step instruction??

Aug 9, 2009i want to ask a question. sometimes i use a gprs modem to connect to the net. the gprs modem uses the usb port. i've connected this pc to another machine through crossover cable. the problem is that when there are two active connections, firefox can't load anything. also how can i share the gprs modem with my other pc that is connected via crossover?
PS. in my active network connections it shows:
eth0- the NIC
and auto eth1 - the gprs modem
i have also tried to change the firefox preferences but to no avail.
Both my computers run on FC11.

Now I can connect Internet using this command "wvdial MYNET" in terminal.Now I want to share my internet using Lan card & Netgear Router. If i connect my PC with Router using wire & change option ON BOOT find this device in ifup then it'll show in ifconfig command.
My Router IP : 192.168.0.1 & It gives my PC an IP automatically : 192.168.0.2
I can ping my router.. even I can browse Router Admin page in browser. No problem there.But now If i want to connect my net using wvdial command... net connected... but no data passing!!! If i disable Lan card in ifup then Edge/Gprs net connection again OK!

Dec 26, 2009I have a little bit of a prediciment with my Mobile Broadband dongle, even though I know I'm in a 3G area (Dongle Supports 3G connection) my internet still loads at the normal GPRS speeds max of 5kb/s. Is there anyway to change the speed of it or do I have to keep with GPRS at the moment?

Oct 14, 2010I have a Rocketfish bluetooth keyboard and mouse combo and am running Ubuntu 10.04. The mouse was easy to set up. I just went to the bluetooth icon and clicked add new device and it connected. The same wasn't true for the keyboard. It gives me the code to type so I typed it and pressed enter and... nothing. So I found a little tutorial and I had to install bluez and type in the terminal, "sudo hidd --search" then enter my password (which I needed to grab my other keyboard to do) and it connected. If I don't use it for a while or reboot, the keyboard will not connect. I have to do the hidd search again which means I need to keep my extra keyboard handy. I had it set up before where it would connect on a reboot, but I got a new hard drive and reinstalled Ubuntu, now I can't remember how I set it up. Could I have set up bluez wrong?

Sep 10, 2010I'm running 9.10 Karmic and using Blueman 1.2 with the latest bluez stack. I have a pair of Sony DR-BT100CX bluetooth headphones. I've got them paired and working with my system. When I turn them on I can click on the blueman icon and then select the DR-BT100CX device and then choose to connect the Audio Sink. As soon as I do this my Pulseaudio is redirected and all system output is driven through the headphones. This is great!
My only issue is that I have to select the device (I don't have to re-pair it) when I turn it on. On my Windows system when I turn on the headphones the bluetooth detects them and connects and then audio routes through the headphones. I don't have to click on anything.
Does anybody know how to remove the need to click on the device and add the sync. When I turn my bluetooth mouse on the system picks it up and starts using it, so I know this is possible. I just can't find a simple way to make this happen with the headphones.

thus ubuntu booted from the live cd..and i was TRYING to get familiar with ubuntu (linux..)
my problem was that i couldnt connect to the internet from ubuntu.. but its a piece of cake when im using my windows 7. (duh.. )
