Ubuntu Multimedia :: Rhythmbox - How To Connect A Win Mobile Device

I'm using Ubuntu since some month and lovin it. Only one thing with Rhythmbox and my HTC mobile phone running Win mobile 6.1 is annoying: The mobile device is never recognised as a music player nor as a usb device so I can't load music via Rhythmbox. Ubuntu recognises it as umts-modem which I like and would like to maintain. But is there any way to load music on it at the same time? I've already tried different settings on the devices usb-to-pc settings menu, but this only switches on and off the modem functionality but doesn't make ubuntu recognise the device as usb or music player.

I've got an XP pro SP3 Vm in Virtualbox with Vodafone Mobile Connect installed. The USB dongle is detected by virtual box and I've tried passing it through with and without a filter enabled for it. Both times it was listed with the USB keyboard and mouse, all were greyed out. In Windows Ddevice Manager there's a entry for a USB Mobile Internet controller but the Vodafone Mobile Connect software isn't picking up the device. I'm using Ubuntu 10.04 and teh latest Virtualbox downloaded from the website with the PUEL extensions pack so I can have USB.

In ubuntu 9.10, I connect the mobile device and a icon appears in desktop, but it doesn't start and doesn't connect. I went to "network connections" -> mobile broadband -> add -> select contry, bla bla bla ->insert PIN->apply

I have a 1TB external HDD which I use to store my music library of roughly 40 gigs. Therefore I would normally import music directly from it to my Rhythmbox library while keeping everything stored on the removable drive. In recent versions of Rhythmbox this is no longer needed as the application integrates my external HDD into the side pane and lists the music automatically. This is great although when closing Rhythmbox and reopening it, the drive has to be scanned all over again. This is a huge pain when it has to scan through 40+ gigs of music.
Therefore I would like this feature disabled and removed from my side pane. It is not needed and causes quite a large annoyance. Either I want it removed or the ability to keep the index of music from the drive in Rhyrhmbox at all times. Achieving this would be fantastic and would switch me back to Rhythmbox. recently I have been using Exaile which I love but rhythmbox not working bugs me.

we were watching Clint Eastwood in Pink Cadillac on DVD. Earlier, I had been checking out the streaming internet radio on my roommates Mint laptop using Rhythmbox, and found it to be pretty cool. Usually, if I stream any music, it's just from the CBC (like the U.S.'s NPR), so I just stream it directly from them, but all the stations on rhythmbox (there's a whack of them) got me interested. At the start of Pink Cadillac, I proposed myself a challenge: Could I manage to get rhythmbox (a GNOME application) to work on my Slack64 -current box, before the movie ended? There's probably (maybe?) a similar app that installs and works more natively on Slack, but that's not the point; I wanted to try installing rhythmbox in < 2 hrs. Well, I got it installed finally, *just* at the end of the movie credits, but it won't play! And sometimes it segfaults. So, I wonder if anyone has any tips about what I might be missing or whatever.
Here's what I typically get when I first start it up (though it starts & runs OK):

Seems even on systems with some sort of 'natural' support for installing this thing, a lot of people are getting the same or very similar errors, but I haven't found a solution (obviously - I wouldn't be posting otherwise ) but people, myself included, have discovered that there doesn't seem to be a 100% accurate list of *required* dependencies for rhythmbox; it needs stuff that it doesn't tell you it needs.
EDIT: Disclaimer (just to cut the 'dependency-hell' arguments off at the pass, so to speak): This is just a fun experiment for me. I don't suggest Slackware newbies start trying to install <xyz Gnome application> into their Slackware boxes unless you want to spend HOURS fixing stuff like this, and you want to have fun doing it, and have it maybe bork your box up. And if you *do* decide to try it anyways, don't blame Slackware for giving you dependency hell. Gnome doesn't come with Slackware (here's the ChangeLog). I like Slackware exactly the way it is - it comes with more than enough apps to satisfy most people, all nicely working out of the box, so installing stuff like this is not really necessary - but I'm choosing to do this one anyway, and am not deterred by this "mess" of stuff.If this dependency stuff isn't your 'cup of tea', an 'automatically-dependency-resolving' distro might be better for you; I prefer to mess my machine up on my own, rather than let my package manager do it for me.

Whenever I plug my Zune in, Rhythmbox recognizes all the songs on it but when I doubleclick on a song to play it, the song doesn't play and Rhythmbox quits. Any suggestions on how to fix it? I'm running a Dell XPS 410 with 4GB RAM and a 1.75 GHz processor.Also, I imported a CD and it plays fine.

I'm trying to get an older machine access to the internet. I have a zte tu25 i got from comcast. My machine is a dimension 2400 pentium4 2.8 ghz, with 1gig ram, ect... if you need anything specific let me know. Just installed 9.1 from cd. when i plug my usb device in i get nothing. I've downloaded UbuDSL and Ndiswrapper based on what i got from other posts but i cant get either to work. Does anyone know if this device will work with ubuntu 9.1?

I have an internet from my mobile company, it isn't ethernet or a usb thats connected to a phone or anything. its basicaly a device that has my mobile card/chip inside and it connects to the internet, here's a picture of the device to give more information.

Basicaly on windows xp, or 7, I just plug this into any USB then it automatically installs a software, then program will popup that has "Connect" buttom, I click on that and i'm online, but in linux/ubuntu that auto installation is not coming.

I've encountered a very strange bug in Rhythmbox 0.12.8 on my Ubuntu 10.04 install. For some reason, anytime I have Rhythmbox running, all 3 LEDs on my Nostromo n52 gaming device blink, slightly faster than 1 blink per second (or a little over 60 Hz).The blinking does interfere with use of the n52. While the blinking occurs, only about half of my n52 keypresses get through.I guess Rhythmbox is sending signals via USB somehow. Anyone else noticed this bug?

I have searched many times to find out why I can't connect to last.fm via Rhythmbox. I have been to the last.fm forum and read many posts on the topic.I have an account and listen on both browsers and have used the last.fm software in the software center in the past.I tried Rythmbox > Edit > Plugins Last.fm > Configure , and entered user name and password. Nothing happens and no error messages .I don't mind using the browser , but it would be nice to be able to use this plugin. It hasn't worked on 10.04 or 10.10.

Just loaded Ubuntu 9.10 on a Dell 5100, (XP finally got the bsod) I have verizon mobile broadband, all was very good until I realized I cannot connect wirelessly. The usb modem was not recognized, there is no indication of any wireless connection. There is no icon and nothing happens when the usb modem is plugged in. I have been working on this for hrs & hrs. I'm using Ubuntu 9.10 and mobile Samsung SGH 610. The bluetooth is on in both and I can browse the mobile phones' directories from the laptop. But if I try sending a photo from mobile to laptop, it says connection failed every time. Both laptop and mobile are able to recognize each other and I can pair with the laptop successfully.

Since my recent re-conversion into Ubuntu, I noticed Network-Manager now has mobile broadband support out of the box. Splendid!
I've been using my Huawei (Vodafone) modem since around two weeks, and so far it's been great, except for a little detail: sometimes, them modem simply won't work. I plug it in, "cd" drive (where the Vodafone Mobile Connect files are) shows up, but no "Vodafone" on Network-Manager.
I believe this has something to do with settings the modem may leave behind after each use, but I'm quite newb, so.

well, i tried installing Drivers for my ATI VGA and then uninstaled them (in order to install the edgers drivers). soon after the reboot i found out my key board n mouse is not recognized in GUI.
i found a little work around here

ever since maverick came out and I updated I can't connect to internet via my mobile phone. I used to connect via bluetooh establish a dun connection and then I could connect from network manager. Everything goes ok with the bluetooth the connection is made and then NetworkManager doesn't see anything...what can I do?

Im able to use nm-applet just fine to setup broadband card. Its a Sprint Sierra 598u. Im running Fedora 10 KDE version. Anyone know how to get it working? i tried the setup process but all it tells me is set up GPS or CDMA so i go CDMA for mine, but then it has some default name, and no providers, as the UBUNTU version did at least...i setup best i can but then after closing configs, i go to nm-applet icon in bottom-right and it doesn't show the mobile broadband connection, also any wireless connections don't work for some reason, but DO show up. just wont connect (which i got every so often when using ubuntu on the machine, was usually a switch off or restart away from fine
