I use tata docomo as my carrier. I have activated GPRS and many people say that it works perfectly on a laptop with Windows. But I don't use windows. My service provider has not provided us with a username and a password. It works fine without these on the mobile and a laptop with windows. But when I use it on ubuntu 9.10 with wvdial, it exits saying required username and password. How do I overcome this problem.

I just want to tell everyone how good the Garmin/Asus A10 mobile phone is as an internet modem.I am in Australia and Mobile internet is an expensive thing to have. cheapest is dodo but i had a few problems trying out a friends usb modem.Anyway i was in the market for a Gps phone and discover this one. it is Android phone and pretty cheap so far it is very good gps, camera, mp3, and phone is excellent.BUT here is the clincher. when you plug it into the computer, the phone screen lights up and gives you 3 options.

I want to know how can I share my pc's Internet connection with my mobile phone (Nokia N70). I've done this with my windows machine with the help of gnubox and mRouter. I tried to delete the settings and rewrite them without success.
I have A Novatel Ovation U720 CDMA/EDVO USB modem.
I can connect with wnXP and kubuntu, but can't connect with fedora anymore.
I wish to make the definitive move from kubuntu to fedora... but I should wait.
I can use nmcli to bring down and back up again my wireless connections but it doesn't seem to work with my "Mobile Broadband" connections. It works to bring down my mobile internet with :

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have opensuse 11.1 Gnome on Lenovo S10e. I'm wanting to establish a mobile internet connection. I have tried so far...*UMTSMON but when I click on it nothing happens. I have reinstalled the program several times to no avail. *WINE to run the Optus program, however the program doesn't find the HUAWEI USB stick & *Via a Bluetooth connection (use mobile phone as a modem) didn't work either Anyhow, I have tried these and some other ways to get mobile to no avail.
Also, have gone to network connections-mobile broadband-add-configure it- but what am I forgetting to do? Need a path I can take to get mobile internet working. (I even have a direct SIM card slot in this laptop

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhat I want to do is to share the internet connected to a computer with a telephone, over another telephone which is permanently connected to the pc.The thing is, that some guys found a way of making this on windows, in fact, I already set it up on xp and works like a charm, it involves configuring in a certain way the telephone, and to use 2 programs. One is CCProxy, which redirects the internet connection to the telephone, and another one, which updates the IP adress of the telephone connection to dyndns, so that I can put that adress on my second telephone as proxy, and this way, surf on the net through my home internet on the telephone anywhere. Tricky right?
Now, the thing is I don't like at all booting windows only for sharing internet with my telephone. So I want to do it in linux. I use Ubuntu and Puppy linux home.I tried setting up the connection to the modem with wvdial, and... I got connected! But hey, when I connect to the telephone, I lost my internet connection (main, cable based, the pc connection) :-S. I mean, somehow, the "active" connection for the browsers and all the internet programs is now the connection I have made with my telephone, which is plugged to the computer.Now my objective here is that NO CHANGE of active connections get done when I start the connection to the phone, and then, get a program like CCProxy, and a dyndns updater for sharing the internet connection on the pc, to the connection made on the telephone-modem wired to the computer.
When connecting to the internet in Ubuntu 10.04 with an external USB dialup modem, using a terminal and sudo wvdial command, is there a command or some way that will show the modem connection speed?
I checked similar threads, but they don't appear to involve finding dialup modem speeds.
I am trying to connect to Internet using Wavecome modem with Airtel GPRS connection. I am able to successfully connect and browse the Internet using wvdial. But if I use pppd, I am getting the error message as "LCP Terminated by peer".

nothing happens after this.. I checked the resolve.conf and it is empty. i put openDNS server addresses but still did not work.
I installed the intel soft modem in the debian lenny, and system can detect the modem, wvdial can dial the phone number but cannot connect to the internet with this error:

The phone number, user and password all are correct and I can connect to the internet in the windows as I post this post in the windows.

I hope I am not the only one (so it will be fixed), but since I haven't found any others having the same problem yet, I am not so confident.I started using mobile broadband, via a HUAWEI E1762 HSPA USB stick since Jaunty. I've had the same problem in jaunty as I do now in Karmic. Although in Karmic, i've had additional problems (that problem i've found listed as a known bug).The problem is that when I get my mobile broadband to connect, it is sometimes, somehow, not fully connected. Symptoms are as follows:
1. panel icon shows connected and good strength (good)
2. skype connects, and I can chat and voip (good)
3. ping does not work (bad)

i recently installed ubuntu 10.04 in my laptop. everything is working fine except for my mobile broadband connection. i use a huawei ec1260 USB 3g modem to connect to the net. the OS detects the modem fine and the network manger applet prompts me to set up the connection as well i.e entering the username, password, number to be dialled etc. however when i actually try to dial the connection the applet icon flashes for a long while and a notification pops up saying connection disconnected. has anyone come across same kind of problem and solutions, if any.
Earlier i used the same modem in in karmic i was able to connect to net and even now i am able to connect using the modem in windows 7 as well

The problem which i face is that when i connected my mobile broadband device, ubuntu detects it and i have succesfully made the connection. But the network Manager is showing "disable" Mobile Broadband connection. I tried to put a check on Enable Mobile Broadband but can't check it. So i can't access Internet in ubuntu. I think some offline package installation should be there to resolve the problem, or some console commands. I tried to use the (wvdial) which i use at Backtrack. but i think ubuntu did not have.
