Ubuntu Multimedia :: Rhythmbox - When Doubleclick On A Song To Play, It Doesn't Play And Rhythmbox Quits?
Jan 31, 2011Whenever I plug my Zune in, Rhythmbox recognizes all the songs on it but when I doubleclick on a song to play it, the song doesn't play and Rhythmbox quits. Any suggestions on how to fix it? I'm running a Dell XPS 410 with 4GB RAM and a 1.75 GHz processor.Also, I imported a CD and it plays fine.

May 31, 2011I'm on Ubuntu 10.04, Amarok version 2.3.0, Using KDE 4.4.2 Whenever I start Amarok and try to play any song, amarok crashes, smetimes a few seconds of the music can be heard even if the Amarok window is no longer there. This is my yakuake code from starting Amarok to the crash, I don't really know where to start looking for an answer.

Mar 6, 2010currently running mint 8, and have installed both spotify and steam via winedoors. both installed no problem and "work" ok when i open them. my problem is, in steam, it connects, updates, shows my games etc, but when i go to open it it tells me it is lauching my game but nothing happens, no game launch. with spotify, i connect, can see all my playlist etc, buyt when i play a song, no sound! also, im having issues with a program called tuxguitar, which is a midi based guitar tool. where everything is playing through but also no sound.

Sep 24, 2010I'm looking for some pointers on a method to "transfer" the song-playing from my laptop to my PC, both running ubuntu. The use case is: I'm home listening to some song on the laptop. Then I realize how crappy the speakers are. Here's what I do *now*:
1. Stop playback on the laptop
2. Get up, go to the PC, open the music player
3. Find the same song
4. Try to find the same point in the song
5. Stop playback on the laptop
6. Start playback on the PC (the PC has good speakers)
Of course now I'm dreaming of having a "button" I push that does all this all by itself. Can anyone give me some pointers?

Oct 13, 2010On 10.04 64-bit, I've been noticing this weird error where totem comes to a halt after ~3/4 of playback in a 30-45 minute video, then it starts to play back again after about 10 seconds but it's a bit choppier. What could be causing this or how I can track down the issue? I'm running a nVidia GTX 275 with nividia-current drivers (195.36.24) if that helps diagnose anything.

Feb 17, 2010I'm cleaning up my music library and deleting duplicates and during that process I accidentally deleted the wrong song. Is there some way to undo this process? Banshee gave me no warning, and the trash is empty. I'm assuming there's a command I can use to recover the file, but as I'm a complete noob, I need some assistance.

Nov 10, 2010I am looking for a utility that will allow me to add required metadata to my songs after importing from CD or whatever. I do not want something that will find the information online. I want to have total control over that including the ability to do global changes on songs as well as one by one changes.
Right now I am trying out Kid3-qt and Ex Falso but don't quite know if I am using them properly.
I also tried Sound Juicer but I am not sure if it is really tagging properly when importing audio CD's.
Any other recommendations, and/or videos on how to use these utilities?

Nov 22, 2010I used to open Rhythmbox and click on the playlist. Then I typed a song's name and the chosen song would appear highlighted on the playlist.
However, since I upgraded to Maverick when I repeat that same procedure Rhythmbox will search for an artist containing whatever I typed instead of a song's title containing it.
I want the old feature back. I don't know if I'm being clear...

Jan 2, 2011ok on my new laptop, banshee deletes songs other then the ones I told it to. I highlite a song or 2 I want to remove from a playlist, rightclick select remove from playlist and some seemingly randome other song is removed and the one I selected is left there.
what could cause this, am I the only one affected and is there a solution, for the moment I am using rythembox to play music.
I would prefer to use banshee as it plays nicer with my mp3 player then any other program I have tried.

Apr 19, 2011I had Ubuntu 10 do this same thing for me. I'm using Natty now, and it worked fine until a few days ago, then out of nowhere it does this. I'm listening to a song and it plays all the way through, but when its done it doesnt play the next song. I can select a new song but when I do, it freezes. i'm using an HPG71 if that helps.

Aug 7, 2011After a fresh boot the first few songs I play with Banshee or Rhythmbox (only used for testing if Banshee was the issue) the songs start to be played badly distored. Like the sound is only being played in very short bursts with gaps between them.
If I restart Banshee the music will usually resuming playing fine for a couple of songs and then the issue repeats. If system load is high the number of songs before the issue appears decreases (as low as 0).
I've attached the output of the alsa-info.sh as I see 90+% of audio issue threads ask for that file in the first reply

But there is one anoying problem - when i want to listen to song it opens VLC, but when i open another song it opens another new VLC window. Jul 10, 2011I'm looking to find-out the beats per minute (BPM) for each of the songs in my music collection to put together various playlists and thought it would be as simple as adding that column of information to Rhythmbox or Clementine, but that fields shows-up as blank. Am I doing something wrong or do I need a scanner to add that meta information first? If so, do you fine folks know of a good one out there for a large collection?
EDIT: So, I installed Banshee because I've read it has a BPM scanner; however, it runs insanely slowly. It took from when I last posted this to now to scan my music collection and only has about two dozens songs' BPM computed. Is Banshee supposed to be that slow? Seems useless.

For example, let's say I have a video of me shooting targets. There would be an icon, and the filename underneath would say: "Range trip 2009.flv - 8:23"
