Since I have done some software updates after moving to ubuntu 11.04 some images are not shown correctly in mozilla firefox. Their colors are blue-green like some effects are applied. it is something like night vision or as in the movie "predator". How can I fix this error?
View 3 Repliesa few months ago, I installed Ubuntu Studio 10.4 x64 edition on my computer, and I was able to invert the colors in Firefox by pressing "Windows-Key + M".Since I updated to the latest Ubuntu Studio release, 11.x, via the upgrade function, this inverting of colors does not work any more. How can I do it now ? PS: I'm using Firefox 4.0.1 right now - maybe I was using Firefox 3.6 (I don't recall it exactly) under Ubuntu 10.4 and hence it's got something to do with the browser rather than the OS ?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have installed LAMP server in ubuntu 10.04 using sudo tasksel command @ my home and with all the port forwarding and stuff its working fine and i can access it via internet and images load fine, but when i installed LAMP using same exact same command @ my friends place and proper network configs, the php pages load but the images don't load. (Images which are very small in size like less then 5 kb is loading though, like small icons, smileys...)Tried clearing cache, different browsers, different image formats.

I don't have any problems with the Monitor or the display of websites, it's only videos that aren't displayed correctly. Could that be due to the graphic card? I thought about updating the drivers but since I did that when I installed Ubuntu and had the problem from the beginning I wonder what it could be.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded my girlfriend laptop to 9.10 and now, for some odd reason, when she plays DVDs on her laptop (the most recent attempt was the latest Harry Potter movie) the movie would play back fine but the colors for everything were way off. I've re-added the medibuntu software sources to her system and applied all available updates but it didn't help.
This problem did not occur on my own computer when attempting to play the exact same DVD.
This only happens if I'm watching a video, but it happens in both VLC and movie player. The video's colors will be all messed up. I'm not sure if it's like sepia tone or negative tone but it's consistent. If it matters I'm using an NVidia card with updated drivers.

When I want to play an official DVD, Mplayer and VLC start and close down immediately..
When I want to play a movie from my HDD I get this (see attachment) with Mplayer and with VLC..Totem just doesn't want to play it..
but whats really weird is when I make a screenshot using VLC even though the colours are weird the screen shot comes out normal
I've just upgraded to Kubuntu 10.10 recently, and everything's working well, except that the screen seems to display less colors than it used to. It's very noticeable when looking at smooth gradients, since there are no smooth gradients anymore.
I'm using a laptop with a Radeon HD 5650 video card. The drivers seem to be working well, since I can run a 3D game like Nexuiz without any problems. The lack of colors isn't even very noticeable when playing games, but I can see it clearly in KDE... for example, the window background gradient isn't really a gradient now, just a few different shades of gray next to each other.I've looked around in KDE display settings and ATI settings, but there's absolutely nothing about the number of displayed colors there.
I just upgraded to Ubuntu 10.10 x64, and the colors in my videos are distorted. Blue seems to be the primary tint over everything. This problem occurs regardless of video format (avi, mkv, flv, etc) and regardless of video player I use (banshee, totem, vlc, etc). However, no other colors in my operating system are distorted; it's only for these movies. I also have an NVidia video card, which I installed the latest driver for through the restricted drivers pop up.

I tyred to to go threw the player and see if I changed the settings some how.I even tried other players. I had been watching ..... videos earlier, it was a little choppy video but colours were fine, then I think loaded the flash players and after that the colour went to negative.
View 2 Replies View RelatedAfter upgrading to Natty/Unitiy I was having problems with very slow and choppy window motion. I tried reinstalling fglrx, and now some of the colors in firefox are coming out inverted (e.g. yellow -> purple) or perhaps just scrambled in some other way (see attached screenshot). There are no other issues I've seen other than some colors in firefox. Most colors look okay.
I downloaded chromium and there are no problems with colors there. I've also upgraded to the latest fglrx drivers from the ATI website and nothing changed. I also uninstalled and reinstalled firefox and still the colors are coming out strangely. Some info. I have an HP Pavilion tx2500ca, with ATI Technologies Inc RS780M/RS780MN [Radeon HD 3200 Graphics].
I have a weird colors problem while trying to play movies in gnome movie player or vlc, the colors change totally like pink becoming green and yellow becomes pink. Any way to overcome it?
View 1 Replies View RelatedFor the past month or so I have been having some issues with screen crashing and displaying funky colors. Basically it happens at completely random times, doing completely random things. The screen goes to a pink color then freezes the the only way I can gain control again is if I restart the machine or restart gdm via ssh. This is really puzzling me. Perhaps there are some logs I can look at? A little bit about my system:

So, I upgraded to 11.04. Everything seems to running okay, but when I go to play a video file, the colors are all screwed up. It looks like they're almost negative in the way that they are displayed.

View 1 Replies View RelatedThere's this low monotone electronic buzz coming out of my speakers. But only if the greater part of my screen is using lighter colors! Meaning, if for instance I have the terminal (black) full-screen there is no buzz. If I have it sized over the half of my screen there's a medium buzz. And if I am on the Google Search home page with the browser full screen (most of the screen white) there's a loud buzz. :SAnd it's only if I run the sound through my amplifier. It's not audible if I just use the laptopspeakers. Really, I have no idea even in what direction to start looking.

I tried to open the site with firefox but I cannot see the image on that page, I see the cursor changing shape and clicking with right button in the properties I see they are gif images, furthermore clicking on the (not displayed) images should open a link to the film but instead a blank page opens with error.
I'm running Ubuntu 10.10 with an NVIDIA GeForce 6100 video adapter and my monitor seems to flicker whenever the the computer is processing. My system is up to date and I did install the recommended NVIDIA driver. The monitor isn't going blank or anything like that, it just seems like every once in a while different images will pop up for less than a second. Any ideas as to what the problem might be? View 9 Replies View RelatedI installed ubuntu onto a desktop computer about a month ago. Everything was working well straight away, I had it outputted onto my TV (32 inch Hi Def Sharpe Aquos). The Graphics card is an NVidia Ge Force FX 5600. On installation and after a restart the computer detected the TV and actually gave the name of the TV in the settings automatically, in the system --> Administration Menu there is a programme that sets the resolution and settings for the NVidia card. This all sorted itself automatically and displayed in 1360 x 768 which was perfect on my TV. For some reason when I turned it on this morning it will only display in 640 x 480 or 320 x 240. xrandr only gives minimum of 320 x 240 and maximum as 640 x 480. How to rectify this?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've just bought a new monitor - Viewsonic VA2213w and am trying to set it up with Lucid. The resolution required is 1920x1080 @ 60Hz. I have an NVidia GTS250 with the proprietary driver v195.36.24 installed. I can set the right resolution in the nvidia-settings app, but it will not survive a restart. X always reverts to 1024x768. I have manually edited xorg.conf now to try to force the mode. The GDM login screen displays at the correct resolution, but on logging in X changes the resolution. Xorg.0.log shows the resolution being correctly set to 1920x1080 initially, then right at the end for some reason it is reset to 1024x768.

My resolution ended up being, in the sound preferences, to change the Connector under Output from "Analog Output/Amplifier" to "Analog Mono Output/Amplifier" (No Amplifier works too).
I didn't find this advice anywhere. I was going to give up, and was poking around, and saw the mono options. Since onboard speakers are mono, I gave these choices a try. So, hopefully, this helps someone else. I appreciate this sticky; maybe there should be some information about how to find the appropriate sound settings in the guide ... somewhere in the beginning, around where you should check that your volume is up and your mute is off
This is a quote from sound solutions thread. i had this problem too with ICH6 but now that i have sound i have a new issue. While a normal sound range is 0-100% my sound range is about 0-10% meaning that about if i put my volume on 3% it it as loud as about 30% should be normally.
I am running Linux from a DVD, not installed. I am not good with installing software, but since the DVD cannot be corrupted, I am content to operate this way. Lately, I have been having problems that previously did not occur. When I try to click on the checkbox to get rid of emails, it doesn't register in most cases, or when it does, I am clicking multiple times so it registers twice, meaning it is unchecked again. Even more frustrating is some issues that are affecting my ability to update my business. I am trying to modify spreadsheets (text not calculations).
Whenever I try to click & drag to select something to change, it keeps jumping around to select only some of what I want, something else or some combination of the 2. When I try to copy and paste several fields from 1 column to another, everything from the several fields in the source column ends up together in the last field in the target column. I am also trying to download some images from a website. There is a single column of links to the images. I have to click on the link to get to the image in order to copy it, then back out to continue looking for more links to do the same.
My computer keeps jumping back 2 steps, then forward 2 steps, and sometimes I lose my place in that list. I could deal with it if it were a small number of links, but this is a list of probably close to 20,000 links. Again, i am operating off of a live DVD so this should not be corruptible, but this has just started happening, and has been an issue the last several sessions.
